The owners were friendly.
Nothing in particular.

I liked the location. It is inside of a very quiet, safe enclave in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. The value you get for your money is amazing.
There is not much I can say I disliked about my experience.
3.8
Good place to spend a few nights hearing interesting stories from the longer stay guests. Too cold to swim but the pool looked well maintained.
3.8
People are friendly
Older home but comfortable

Big house very basic furniture in the room
Students rent there for longer than a night and therefore take over kitchen and other house common areas. Unable to cook by the time they’re done using kitchen. Someone in the house had the heater full blast and therefore I had to open both windows during winter time to stop sweating and be able to sleep. Street parking was ok, management didn’t show us the special lock for the house therefore I struggled to get in and a tenant there showed me around instead of owners.

The lady who attends the restaurant is a lovely person, very attentive and homely.
All its very fine

Very nice staff. They’re involved and make sure everyone is comfortable.
Squeeky shaky beds.
3.8
clean, well maintained, late check in/self check in
beware if you book Deluxe Room at this place it means you are booking a bed in a dormitory. Don’t know why they promote it as a whole room.

Great value and with free off-street parking, which is such a plus in LA
Location isn't quite accessible to downtown unless you have a car. Also, I've stayed in many hostels before, but this one felt a bit off. Not as many amenities and/or outlets for socialzaation.
3.8
Price. The hosts. The accomodations.
There were bugs to deal with but it was probably the fault of one of the guests.

Clean, modern housefree parking, safe location, many amenities (grocery, restaurant) within 5 min drive. We got a good deal on booking so it was very affordable by LA standards
Weird vibe, hostel inhibited by random dudes(these are not fellow travelers, they live there), they are not friendly.. Language is not a problem, we have traveled the entire world and we have made friends with people who don't speak the same language very easily. It was something else. These dudes were very very sketchy.
They occupy the entire common area(entire couch & dining table) so very difficult to hang out in common area, no place to sit or watch TV.
Bed is cheap metal makes noises - mattress is very cheap, very uncomfortable. No locker/safe to keep your belongings. Entire house was creaky and noisy at night as the walls are thin
.
Only 1 thermostat for entire house - random dudes mentioned above set the heating to 86F(30C) - so hot! It was burning inside our room. We went and deceased the temp to 72F, to be comfortable (ideally sleep temp should be even lower). After some time, dudes again increased temperature to 90F(32C). It extremely hot and very difficult to sleep.

beautiful, clean house. in a bedroom shared with 2 people you share half of a standard closet which is great to store your luggage and hang some clothes.
there was only 1 bathroom to share amongst all the people staying

The house is very new with a good space outside around the pool and a new kitchen which was good enough to cook breakfast. Its a new hostel and i'm sure once everything has been sorted out it will be a good place to stay.
1 - We were a little surprised to have to remove our shoes on entry.
2 - The host seemed to hang around and although it was nice to have a chat sometimes she was there a little too often, and also knocked on our door around midnight when we were in bed to tell us there was a problem with her payment system and she needed cash before we left... A text message would have been fine.
3 - One of the other users had put the dryer on late at night which was just outside our room, which then encouraged the owner to out up some rules, one of which was no drinking anywhere in the house, which for me as a paying customer was a little strange, if I want to have a beer, I don't see why I shouldn't be able too..
4- The rooms didn't have locks and there was no where safe to put your valuables.
5- I personally didn't really like the vibe in this hostel, but I think with time this could change.
6- There are cameras inside the hostel, maybe thats normal, but again, strange vibe.
7- The beds were cheap and uncomfortable - we had the private double room, 2 small beds for myself and my partner. which even together didn't allow you to move much, you kind of sank into the middle of the bed and were stuck.
8 - It was much further than i thought to most places in LA

The Cleanliness and Spaciousness
Amenities were insufficient
Location isn't bad but it's a bit far from the hustle of the city approach
But the neighborhood was very quiet and calm

Cleanliness of the place, spacious place.. it was immaculate and spotless! They had Large bathrooms. They let us check in really late which we appreciate so thank you.
Oksana and Camila are lovely people and I had great convos with Oksana. She also offered food that she made for the rest of her friends/family that were there.
The home is beautiful overall!
Free parking on site and on street as well which was a plus!
These guys have just started this hostel and I don't want to be negative as I know growing a business takes time. So instead of negative comments, I'd like to give some constructive feedback.
Remember hostels are created by cultures, people and vibes, thats my overall message as a person who has worked and lived in hostels for the last 3 years.. So I would suggest the following:
1. Reasonable pricing: You can call this place a hostel and charge the prices you charge in comparison to your competitors, if only you provide the basic hostel etiquette and amenities for your occupants.
2. Please provide lockable lockers for your guests. This is so our valuables are safe, we carried around our laptops as one of the other guests seemed very crook.
3. Have a system and a reception! A proper desk space with a computer and a proper booking system would create a professional environment and you would be valued as a business. Instead of someone taking a random photo of our IDs on their phone. He also came and asked THE GUESTS which beds were free the next day. This is knowledge that you should already have.
4. Communal space should be accessible freely at anytime. I've seen comments about this being a family hostel. And I see that's what you are trying to create, but it was a very uncomfortable experience in general. The common spaces were occupied by friends of the property owner majority of the time who didn't speak English and didn't try to make the guests feel welcome or start conversations with them. We all know basic english even if its small conversation. Ive traveled the world and felt more welcomed in a small ethiopian village without a word of english than i did here. We sat in the room on the floor as we there was no where to sit and relax as no one interacted with us.
5 . No sleeping in communal areas. people slept on the sofas overnight the two nights we were there. It was hard getting up early to prepare food or even coffee.

Amazing place and has very cute owners

The hosts were nice, the property was organized and the bed was comfortable.
There are rules that were not communicated to me when I booked therefore made me uncomfortable when I was scolded about something I never knew was an issue. Like not eating in the room, which I understood but I would feel more comfortable eating alone than with everyone and I do clean up after myself. And the no shoes in the house rule, which I also understand but had I known that when I booked I would have been prepared with socks because the floor did leave dirt on my feet. The other guest there made complaints about me and instead of coming to me with their issue, they exaggerating the truth which also made me feel uncomfortable as they were not the same race as me and seemed as if they wanted to make me feel unwelcomed. And while they had a problem with me, I never once addressed them for having the back door wide open at night time that kept causing me to wake up because I was freezing cold and also had flies flying around my face. As I was only a visitor of California, I did not make it my priority to go to sleep early so when I would come back at 12am, lights would be out in the rooms and kitchen and it seems like I would have nowhere to where to eat then if there is no eating in the room and lights had to be out in the kitchen after a certain time.
