Location & price

The hotel is undergoing work from 6 months of illegal immigrant stay and is a mess, our room looks to have been a meeting room converted, the bed sheets where ripped, the room smelt of smoke, there was no headboard, lights above the bed or even a towel rail for the wet towel, even the bathroom door wasn’t painted so raw wood with a lock that just fell out, the blinds wouldn’t close as to wide for the window and the list goes on! This hotel shouldn’t be open until the work is finished but clearly it’s been ruined by the 6 months they let it out to the illegal immigrants! If it wasn’t late when I arrived and had a 4 year old I would have gone to another hotel! We actually went across the road to another hotel for breakfast when I was asked if I was having breakfast and what would I be eating? I presume each sausage would be counted out for the guests! Not my cup of tea

The room was very spacious with a large bed. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met. The service I received was exemplary. Everything in my room was very clean.

Not a dislike but more of a suggestion, the rooms could do with a bin for rubbish. The only bin available was a small one fixed in the bathroom.

The location was good room was clean and tidy

Didn’t find out until I had booked and paid that there were no facilities available at the hotel. On arriving the room was very cold and we decided to go out somewhere for a drink and food. The room did eventually heat up in the night.

Hotel has housed asylum seekers for last two years. I thought it was still closed and effectively it was closed with only a couple of rooms being available. Asylum seekers finished in Jan 24. No facilities open. Room only

We knew this hotel was just re opening so only rooms facilities which is all we needed as visiting family. We had our wedding reception here 30 years ago & been to many events over the years when it was the 'Swallow' really hope it can be restored to its former glory ! Staff on reception were friendly & helpful. Close to A1 & fast food outlets if needed .

The receptionist was helpful and apologised for the situatio, so not her fault. The fault lis entirely Booking.com and Urban Hotel for taking our booking knowing that there are no facilities for food or drink and not warming customers.

We have never experienced a booked hotel to not have any facilities. We arrived late at night after driving for three hours and expecting a nice meal and drink. We had coffee and two biscuits till next day and too late to book somewhere else or get food by the time we sent email to Booking.com. TripAdvisor and Booking.com are still taking bookings with no warnings!!

Location near A1 was ideal, very warm welcome by the reception team who were very professional and attentive. Hotel was warm and the room very spacious. Bathroom has been modernised and is very nice. Hotel is having maintenance work done and will be great when it is complete, this had no detrimental effect on my stay at all.
