Good hôtel to pass buy... No Air conditionning

Everything was very good.

We had a "Bates Motel" experience prior to staying at this hotel, so perhaps that has made our review more positive that it should be, but the staff was super helpful and nice. The room was spacious and the shower had good water pressure. Neighborhood left a little to be desired, but we had a good experience at this hotel.

The property is really aged and in need of updates. There are no fans or air conditioning- only a portable fan in the closet. Granted, Monterey is rarely hot but the room was really stuffy and windows were locked to only open a couple of inches. In the middle of the night, there was a lot of banging around in the parking lot - sounded like a homeless person was lifting and dropping the lids of the trash dumpsters and then staff went out to chase them off. Absent that situation, overlooking the parking lot, you hear a lot of noise coming in and out at night. The property is very small so rooms either overlook the road or the parking area. The only saving grace is the staff is very sweet and attentive.

The property was kept very well, my kids loved the fish pond in the front lobby. Check in and out was super easy, with helpful staff anytime I was at the front desk. The touchless pancake maker for breakfast was a hit with the kiddos. The room was clean, everything seemed well kept. The breakfast was nice. The pool is small but kiddos didn’t mind, they hopped from the pool into the hot tub back and forth and had a blast. I will definitely stay here again.

The staff here were the nicest ever. Sadly, the place has been renovated (which is an odd thing to say). It is sad because the pictures show a movable desk that can be put over by the bay windows for lots of light. The new furniture doesn't much lend itself to that and the pictures at the time we booked were misleading because they are out of date

Drain in shower clogged. No one said where we can take my dog to go potty until next day. Gave password for WiFi kept saying no internet. Front desk said to call a number for this issue and still no as we could connect to TV for Chrome cast. Continental breakfast was not the best. For what I paid could have been better.

Great spot. Clean, reasonably priced, super courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Rachael, front desk attendant, was super helpful and knowledgeable, she went above and beyond, showing us a room ahead of booking, and making us feel welcome.

The staff was very friendly and we had the suit which had outside doors that opened up across the parking lot to the pool which was nice, the weather was a bit too warm for no AC, and there is a lot of street traffic and airport noise which made it uncomfortable to sleep. The bathrooms in the suit were both in the living room area of the suit which was a bit inconvenient. Over all it was not the worst place we have stayed but in all honesty we would not stay there again

Overall, the trip was OK. However, I have two things that made the rating just OK. The first, and major one, is soundproofing of the room. Our neighbors woke up at 5 am, and we could hear every word said! Then the alarm in their room went off at 6 am after they left. It was going off non-stop until I called the front deck. It was immediately taken care of, though. Also, this hotel is in the flight zone for planes going to/from the airport, but so is the Hampton Inn, where I also stayed. I have no complaints about the noise there but the cost is also higher. The second one is the breakfast. In the lobby, there is a board with what will be for breakfast the next day. For example, there were bacon and sausage listed for Friday. Guess what - no bacon, no sausages; they had Jimmy Dean pre-made sandwiches with egg, cheese and a patty of some meat instead in the warmer. It's not a big deal; it's food, regardless. Plus, they had bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, boiled eggs and some cereal. On the other hand, there are a couple of excellent places to eat nearby, for all budgets from small (Denny's) to quite expensive (Monterey Cookhouse)
