Awesome place and staff was wonderful

We were on vacation in December last year and everything was perfect. Now we have been there for a week, we traveled from New York and another family of friends from Chile. The experience this time was very bad and these are the points that made us most uncomfortable: 1. They gave us a dirty room, the fridge was empty and when my wife asked them about the room and the fridge they told her she had to wait until the next day. 2. My friend from Chile asked for chicken grile and that please be breast and the waiter told her that that decision was up to the Chef. 3.We go to the restaurant for dinner and the waiter, an elderly man, comes reluctantly to serve us and does not give us all the options on the menu, as if he wanted us to not eat anything and leave. 4. I go to deliver the towels and the person in charge tells me that if I didn't deliver them on time, then I would be parked as if I had stolen them. 5. A waitress who was there at the time argued with me saying that we Latinos pay attention to things that don't matter and that the rules of the hotel must be enforced. My conclusion: Is it really a 5 star hotel, or are they lying to us, this service and these things never happen in a real 5 star hotel where we have been in the USA and other countries. Never an employee such as a waitress should argue with any guest. Never in any 5 star hotel do they go after guests for a towel. The rooms should never be dirty and the refrigerator or mini bar should never be empty.

The staff were all friendly, nice, helpful and polite. Jose Castillo was superb and there was an older person at the restaurant tall and slim that went out of his way to please us for our breakfast. The building we stayed in was ok, however our bedroom needed to be cleaned. I walked once without my shoes and my feet were all black underneath. You can feel the dirt. The bathroom shower was dirty as well. I had to go buy sandals to be able to take a shower. One unique thing they did was that my friend was celebrating her birthday and when we came to the room they had a birthday cake for her. That was very sweet and special. I rate them with an overall 7 points, because the room we stayed in did not seemed to go with the rest of the beautiful buildings. I humbly suggest that rooms be inspected and/or the bathroom need some remodeling.

The property is pretty centrally located. Tons of food options within walking distance. In the evening, the pick up for chiva buses is directly across the street. The rooms ac did not work properly but they accommodated and offered to switch us to a different room. We declined and requested fans and it solved the problem. The food and drinks were delicious! Breakfast was very good! We saw tons of animals roaming the property. My son held a sloth that kept coming to visit the pool area. Everyone of the staff members are seen working hard all day and are extremely polite and helpful. If I return to Cartagena again with my family if 4, I would return to Hotel Caribe. The pools were perfect for the kids!

The hotel is beautiful. I loved the rainforest vibe. I have it 4 stars because several outlets did not work in our room and compared to other rooms our group reserved, ours did not have a rug and was outdated.
