Very welcoming and friendly staff. The receptionist gave us a brief introduction to Matera after checking in. Location is very nice, with stunning view of the sassi. Breakfast is a must, with a large selection.

Amazing boutique hotel in a genuine Sassi cave, modern renovation makes it very comfortable. The ability to assist with booking car parking (even during the busy festa day) and then arrange a transfer which drops you off 20 metres away was an amazing convenience. The proprietors really go above and beyond to ensure you’re given exemplary service. We stayed in a deluxe room which had two beds for our kids and was amazingly spacious and convenient.

I don't often wax lyrical about the very many stays I have had in hotels and b and bs around the world but Conche Luxury Retreat, in the historic centre of Matera, is absolutely worthy of the highest praise. For a start, even before your arrival, the attentive host Carla contacts you to find out how you are getting to Matera and then works with you to make sure you know exactly how to find this absolute gem of a hotel nestling right in the centre of this Unesco World Heritage Site. On arrival you are taken to a beautifully and tastefully appointed former cave house, now hotel room, and greeted with aperitifs and snacks. And the experience just gets better. Breakfast each morning is an absolute feast -setting you up for the day ahead. Matera itself is simply jaw-droppingly stunning - literally like no other place on earth. I cannot recommend a visit to the city enough and if so, staying at the exceptional Conche Luxury Retreat to make the experience complete.

It’s so beautiful. The design is very chic and unique. It highlights the natural beauty of the cave and also makes it so comfortable and contemporary. The breakfast is amazing. Definitely one of the best hotels I’ve visited.

I am providing 5 stars because 6/7 stars is not available. Absolutely wonderful!! Room was well appointed, modern with very comfortable bed. The breakfast was the most delicious and plentiful we ever had in all our travels to Italy. Victor was a wonderful host, taking time to provide us with a suggested walking tour. Fantastic stay!!

Our stay here was like staying at a boutique hotel. It was so unique and felt completely private. Great in-room amenities and great bed and bedding. The location is great, but as we did you will probably need a taxi from the train station. If you can arrive at Matera Sud, it would be more convenient. Victor from the hotel arranged a taxi for us upon arrival which worked out great. This place offers great customer service and a fabulous breakfast. Can’t recommend it enough.
