Located in a tranquil spot on the lagoon away from the hustle and bustle of the resort strip, this lovely 4-unit vacation rental is still within walking distance of the beach, all the food and drinks in town, and the nature preserve. There are only 4 units on site, so it's quite private and quiet and the fence makes it all feel secure (not that Holbox feels unsafe in any way). Good communication with the owner and staff, despite our minimal Spanish. Amenities are relatively minimal but you have what you need for a a home-away-from-home feeling. There was a bit of construction noise during the day due to it being a developing area. However, I will take a little sawing over screaming kids and endless ATV taxis any day. Overall Casa Alux isn't all the right choice for someone who wants a full-service resort feel, but if you prefer quiet, less crowds and a kitchen (!!!), it's a delightful option at a good price.

Very nice, big and airy room, with comfy bed, fridge, microwave, dishes, and housekeeping. The view from the deck (hammocks) is great over the marsh, with starry skies and nice breeze at night. Willy is also a great host; very friendly and accomodating. The location is very quiet, yet also very close to the beach, restaurants, and corner store. We would love to come back!

The cleanliness, the quality of bedding and towels were always noticed. The place is located in front of a small lagoon and has amazing views, just one block from the beach, with only two suites makes it very intimate and private. My husband and I slept very comfortably and it was exactly the romantic place we expected. The internet signal pretty good as well. We will definitely return!

The suite was very comfortable, extremely clean and in a beautiful location. Even though it is not directly at the beach, it has a beautiful terrace with view to the lagoon. It is very peaceful, private and quiet, but you can still comfortably walk to the beach and many restaurants. The owners are extremely nice and always available.
