I loved the sound of the waves and the view of the ocean from ymy room. The staff was kind, helpful, friendly and the service was excellent. The accommodation is basic. The people who live outside of the Rising Phoenix compound are very poor but friendly!

I booked a week stay at this hotel. When I got there, my room was not ready. I was upgraded to a room with a bathroom and had to pay extra. I should not have had to pay for an upgrade considering the room I booked was not ready. The room was not clean and I had to request the room be cleaned. The room door was broken also. I was told it would be fixed that day, and two days passed and it was not fixed. The staff was kind. They were willing to help get things in place, but they should have been done in advance. The neighborhood is not the best either. My cab driver was concerned about leaving me there, but inside of the resort, it was pleasant. Taking a cab from the front was fine and getting dropped off there was fine also. There was music and a bar. The vibe was nice. Being able to overlook the ocean was nice, but the room really wasn't nice to stay in. I ended up not staying there at all. The cost was super affordable, but what you pay for is what you get. When I came back to get my things, I noticed a big wet stain on the bed as the roof leaked when it rained the night before. I was in room #3. I liked the location and the staff. Very laid back and safe atmosphere
