The street-level building above the apartment is not too impressive but the stairwell takes you down into a delightful courtyard, with lovely flowers and plenty of shade from the hot sun. There is a small table and chairs you can take outside to enjoy the area, which you may need to do as there is no wifi at the property and phone reception can be weak indoors. There's also a rack for drying clothes, towels etc and a washing machine inside. The flat is a bit dark but it is a lovely old-fashioned holiday apartment with lounge/kitchen/dining area in one room, a bathroom and a spacious bedroom with big wardrobe. I was a bit wary of the two single beds in there but the one I used was surprisingly comfortable. There is an internal door so you can cut off the noise of the fridge-freezer humming if it stops you sleeping. The kitchen was well equipped with cutlery, dishes, cups, pots, pans etc but no kettle - just a small coffee pot. Francesca left me a welcome present of a big bottle of water and sweet bread for breakfast, which was appreciated. The apartment is close to the port and town beaches so it was a good base to explore Cala Gonone and the surrounding areas - it's well worth doing a mini cruise or hiring a zodiac boat so you can access the best beaches, which are otherwise hard to get to.

Two things - the apartment is not at the listed address, which is actually a big campsite. Francesca told me to go there via the app (neither of us spoke each other's language) and then I didn't hear from her for a while so l had to ask the people at the camping ground reception if they knew of the place - they didn't but kindly called her for me and she came to meet me (the apartment was a little way up the road on a small side street). Secondly, two of the four nights there was loud live music keeping me awake until after 3am. I left on the Saturday and was glad not to be there the whole weekend! The only way to stop the noise was to shut the bedroom's only window, but it was hot and airless in there already, so I had to open the internal door and was then kept awake by the noise of the fridge. It might not bother most people but I'm a light sleeper and was exhausted with a 7.30am wake-up time in order to check out...

The garden. The price is ok. It was clean.

Very little light and very humid. It was very warm at night and no ventilator. The exterior of the house is unfinished. You can hear the neighbours very clearly
