The house itself is beautiful, very private and serene. Dinner was good.

We feel that there is a lack of preparation. The pool was cold and not clean. Drink wise they had nothing to offer but warm beer. There were no toiletries, no coffeemaker, no milk for the coffee and some bacon with breakfast was not possible. the butler feels very stressed and doesn’t listen very well. we think at this pricepoint you should do better. There is so much potential.

Beautifully restored house. Amazing staff and great food. It would have been lovely to be served scones with the afternoon tea. Perhaps the chef could learn how to make it? Overall perfect! Beautifully kept garden!

Wish they could cut the hedge in front of the lawn 1 meter though for the benefit of the most breathtaking view.

The property is absolutely beautiful. It’s been so tastefully renovated to provide a really comfortable home from home which is full of character. The staff take so much pride in the property and in the care of their guests. Kannan the butler loooked after us so well, so discreetly - nothing was too much trouble. The Sri Lankan food was tasty and plentiful and our bedroom was spotlessly clean, with lovely bed linen on comfortable and cosy beds. The garden is beautifully kept - a feast for the senses. There are plenty of different places to sit and chill; the verandah, the lounge and also a games room upstairs. We introduced our friends to an Indian sub continent board game, carrom, as a board and counters were provided and we had hours of fun challenging each other to games. We went out to Ella on our full day there, being driven by our driver and returning by train. Bandarawela station is just at the bottom of the hill so convenient for those without there own transportation. We also walked down to the town and had a drink at the famous, old, colonial Bandarawela Hotel and walked back up the hill accompanied by friendly local dogs, dodging the traffic. All in all, a delightful place to stay and one we would thoroughly recommend.

Nothing but the walk up the hill from the station is quite steep and relatively long so may not be suitable for everyone. However, Tuk Tuks are readily available.
