construction zone, little parking

So dirty, bed sheets all stains and ripped. It is so ridiculous I booked the hotel with different reality than it shows in the listed photos online.

Nothing just so disappointed.

In theory, it could be nice but it’s not at it’s current state.

Construction was happening right in front of us. Beds were also kind of uncomfortable. Coffee maker was in the same space as the toilet.

Manager Antonio listened to my concerns and promised to comp me one night, rather than charge me for an unacceptable room. He apologized for all the construction and moved us to a better room!

It is a CONSTRUCTION SITE! This hotel is being completely redone and should NOT be renting rooms - construction noise and early workers. Better to just close it for several months and complete the renovation!

NO extra charges for pets, nor parking!... That is definitely a PLUS. Breakfast was included, which also added to the value.

I was not made aware that there was construction happening & that the pool is no longer available. 1 of only 2 Ice machines was broken. Price was inflated due to the Holiday (Thanksgiving) wknd. Room decor & furniture could use some updating.

The free breakfast was fine.

The toilet paper roll was near empty when we arrived, no clock, no wifi connection with my laptop, 2 ward robe hangers in closet, outdated furniture, slow hot water in shower stall, ...

Everything was as expected. Clean, good rooms. even though not close to the beach, very close to the main drag (State Street) and easily walkable to many excellent restaurants and shipping venues.

The parking situation was not the greatest, but I think this was due to some construction ongoing.

Location

There was construction on the property which was NOT made known to me at the time of booking. This greatly impacted our enjoyment as we were surrounded by dust and workmen

We liked the location

Our room was dark, a ceiling lightbulb was burned out and we asked to have it replaced, but it never was. The brightest light was in the shower. The blow dryer and Keurig were broken and we asked for them to be replaced too, but they were not. The pull out sofa sheets were dirty, and was so uncomfortable that my daughter stayed somewhere else the second night.

construction made it difficult to use the facilities and park etc. Breakfast was just average.

I booked the room for relatives but did not stay there myself They were very happy

I paid $1200 for 3 nights (rather than have my mobility-impaired brother stay with me), so he could have a wheelchair-accessible shower and bed. And he didn’t get either! Despite the fact that the listing here features an image of a no-barrier shower, his room had a tub with a side that was about 18” high and a seat that was too low for wheelchair transfer. The bed was way too high for him to get into unassisted. Passages into the bathroom/on the side of the bed were too narrow for easy access. (He’s 5’9” and has standard sized wheelchair). Luckily he was traveling with his wife, he can stand unassisted briefly, and they also brought a walker. So she ended up moving furniture, kind of hoisting him in and out of bed, and assisting him in the shower. In an ADA compliant room for someone with mobility issues, he can accomplish all these things independently — and that was the sole purpose of paying a premium to get him such a room. There were a bunch of other little things that were “off” — dirty Keurig (that was barely functional once cleaned), broken ice machine on their floor, ash tray and trash cans encroaching on exit space for handicap parking, no plan for rescue from their second floor room in the event of an elevator outage or an emergency. Staff was fine — the big problems here were poor design and misleading marketing, neither of which they were responsible for. The hotel seems to be in the process of renovation now, so I strongly urge LaQuinta to hire an accessible design professional to make this room functional and ADA compliant. In the meanwhile, I’d strongly discourage any wheelchair-dependent traveler from choosing this hotel.
