Perfect walkable location. Lovely public areas and nice rooms.

Location is very good

The check-in process is always difficult, arrived at noon wasn’t able to get into our room till AFTER 4 o’clock!

The gorgeous Alfond Inn is located close to the historic and and charming Park Avenue. The hotel is dog friendly and features lovely grounds for strolling, dining, cocktails, or walking dogs. There are exquisite and unique art installations throughout the hotel. The atrium is positively gorgeous - featuring a grand piano and prismatic art globes that cast brilliant colors throughout. There is a very good restaurant and bar within the hotel and room service is also an option. Meeting and confers rooms are also available. The valet staff is remarkable; the service and professionalism is top notch. The entire hotel staff is gracious and efficient. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase in the lobby. There is also an ATM if needed.

While the hotel is dog friendly, I do wish there were dog waste stations somewhere on the grounds. There aren’t any outdoor trash cans for disposal and I don’t want to bring the dog waste bag inside for disposal. When walking downtown this isn’t an issue, but for late night or early morning quick outings with a pet, it is a conundrum.

the room furnishings were dated looking, the carpet was dirty (spotty), decor was dated, room service hours not convenient, room service could not be ordered in advance

The overall experience would be quite good except for the fact that the room alarm clock woke us up at 6 am. How can a modern hotel still have this kind of alarm clock that needs to be reset?

some housekeeping and maintenance issues that need to be addressed. Maintenance: Loud ac in the hallway, rust on the bathroom light fixtures and wastepaper basket. Housekeeping: the bed skirt was bad wrong, noticeably not on correctly, pillows were awful, all broken and old. Easy details to fix, but a simple inspection of the room would catch these problems..

I loved the art. the rooms were clean and comfortable and the location was great.

restaurant closed early

Location was great. The lobby and grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The staff was very accommodating. I liked the shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom and the fact that they weren't small containers creating more waste in our landfills...

Our room was ok. There really wasn't anything special about it. The bathroom was way outdated and blah... The bed was super comfortable with nice sheets and pillows... Too much money for an ok room. Big disappointment after the rest of the hotel being so stunning...

The room, location and the lobby is beautiful.

The room service was late or not done, the restaurant service was not good enough for such a place. The air conditioning in the restaurant did not work.

Location was great and safe to walk late at night.

The air conditioning was out in the restaurant and bar area both days which impacted the lobby area and all parts of the hotel—and we had to just accept it. Our room was also not as cool as it should be no matter what the thermostat said, so there was a musty smell. The price for two nights’ room rate, food cost in a hot restaurant, extremely expensive drinks in the overheated bar, noisy from giant fans blowing hot air around, with the daily cost of parking added, was way too expensive for a very average and somewhat uncomfortable experience. This building is obviously old and in need of repairs to justify the prices, which would then be fair for such a nice hotel in a beautiful location.
