Quiet, quaint, tranquil.
Private onsen which has both indoor and outdoor bath available 👍
Beautiful traditional inn.
Shower can only be taken at the onsen, not in the room. Go with small overnight bag or luggage, cos there are some flight of stairs to take to get to the room.

the facilities are incredible. the 3 onsen and the rooms
The staff and the property didn’t have a ouch information for foreigners. We were not informed about certain rules about the use of facilities and the dress code

The onsen was great. Best steak I’ve had.
Smokey in there which really bothered my allergies but it was fine.

Loved our onsen escape! Such a gorgeous location - like being transported to another world. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast and dinners were such a unique and special Japanese experience. The onsens were relaxing and all had beautiful outlooks.
The facilities are getting dated - there could be a little renovation to say the onsen buildings but the onsens themselves are clean and beautiful.

Spacious and cozy place. Onsen was perfect, all in public and private zone.
Too hard to find the place. No english sign at all. Narrow and slippery road to the hotel.

The ryokan had a rustic air and was beautiful to walk around. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and we were assigned English speaking staff during our stay. We were offered mochi and tea when we arrived and there were snacks in our room. Yukatas, pyjamas, snow shoes, socks and slippers were provided. The 2 public river side baths were beautiful, and the genders for them are switches during the evening. Aside from the usual male and female baths, there were also 3 private bath rooms, each with an indoor and outdoor bath across from the ryokan. Dinner was a grand affair with a multicourse meal. It was a very relaxing experience and we felt well taken care of.
The futon were filled with something hard and are different from normal futon. It was a bit difficult to get used to, but we still slept well. The food were well made but the flavours may not be to everyone's liking. The baths also were generally cooler than I had expected or wanted. It was also difficult to access by public transport with only a 2 hourly bus through the area.
