The location is excellent

Not all areas of the hotel were open , my early mid week stay meant that many of the restaurants in Tofino are closed , very frustrating

The staff was amazing and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The room was very clean and had a cute dog bed for our little dog.

The only thing I would have liked if they had more breakfast options at the little café in the hotel.

Kind reception and shower space

As a two star hotel, it is reasonable. But if the rate applied to the room is a higher one, corresponding to a standard three to four stars and the guest expects that because of the rate the quality of services could follow suit, then there is risk of a serious mistake, as it remains a two star hotel.

We liked the funky atmosphere in the coffee shop lounge. So colourful and fun! The shower in the room was amazing. I liked everything about it. The soaps in the shower were lovely. I would have liked to be able to purchase some to take home, actually.

We would have like one chair in the room that was a bit more comfortable for sitting on to read. For my husband, having a coffee maker in the room is a deal breaker. Even if there had been morning coffee free to guests in the morning it would have been fine. Having to pay for the coffee felt kind of like a money grab. Some things we all have just come to expect in a hotel room.

Extremely friendly staff and clean rooms. Centrally located so it was easy to walk to most of Tofino.

While the location was good, it was very loud. It seemed people left the bars and walked down the street to the wharf. Both nights we were repeatedly woken by loud people on the street. The bed was comfortable enough, but the way the bed frame is constructed we each hit our shins on it. I finally put a bag at each corner so we didn't get injured returning to the bed at night.

If you are looking for BASIC accommodation, this works for you. The room is very small, does not have elevator or a fridge. Not to mention not a single table or safe or air condition. We left the fan running all the time to circulate the air.

Location is perfect, central. Can walk to most places. The cafe and restaurant in the hotel were amazing!

Did not replenish towels. We had to keep calling to ask for towels and once even went to go get them ourselves. I’m not sure if this is just how the hotel works as a means of being environmentally friendly maybe? They did not clean the room at all during the stay either, sheets were never changed and garbage was never emptied. This was my second time staying at the MAQ and both experiences were like this.

Room 214 was spacious and perfect for our little family of 4. The kids slept on the queen hide-a-bed, we slept on the King bed. The room features were beautiful, exposed pipes, wooden flooring, lots of windows. The weather was great, so we explored the outdoors, but if not we could've happily spent all day at The Maq.

The late-night sound from the downstairs club, particularly the bass, was much louder than we thought. A simple fix for this would be to put a hi-pass filter, like 80 hz, on the output to the speakers to cut the lowest of low bass sounds, which are the ones that travel through walls. I guarantee the DJ and clubgoers won't know the difference but your hotel guests will be so much happier without the late-night thumping!

Nicely renovated and redecorated hotel. Friendly staff. Very clean. More geared to younger guests.

Heritage building so no elevator, lots of stairs from the gravel parking lot which was often full. Not ideal for seniors.

Absolutely everything. Could not fault it. The staff were amazing. The vibe, the music the food location just everything.

the amenities which we were excited for were closed during both nights of our stay for private event. would have been nice to know before booking. it was also very noisy in the room, the sound coming from the street and the hotels own beer garden late. also could have used black out curtains.

The room was not clean. There was an excessive amount of hair all over the place and mostly in the bathroom. Almost like someone got a haircut there. We let the front desk staff and they said they would see someone to clean but never did. The rooms are very basic so I’d at least expect them to be clean for the price they charge
