The apartment was totally as advertised - beautifully appointed with the bedroom and bathroom inside the caves. Very cool. Location was perfect with a large veranda overlooking the Sasso. Definitely a great stay!

Of course, given the layout of Matera, we had some difficulty finding the check-in area. The door to get to the check-in is to the right of an outdoor restaurant. Once we figured that out, everything went well. Be prepared for some steps, but that is the whole experience!

Fantastic location, incredible sunset views from the terrace.

Bathroom is downstairs which is an issue if you need to visit during the night. To be fair I was aware of this before booking from other reviews but not ideal. However, trade off is the amazing locations and views. Breakfast needs improvement - poor quality orange juice and very little fruit.

It was amazing, looking out over the old town and with its own terrace to enjoy the view. The apartment was very spacious and well furnished.

Nothing to unlike

Excellent location close to everything. Good communication from owner and helpful with any issues or queries. Lovely rooms and quiet despite close to centre.

Breakfast: The girl who 'served' breakfast. We found her quite rude - it was not a language problem as she spoke and understood English well but she did not greet us, almost rolled her eyes when we asked for cappuccino rather than regular coffee and when there was a power cut the first morning whilst having breakfast, she did not offer any explanation or let us know she was dealing with it- we had to ask (as were awaiting toast). She clearly did not want to be there and her attitude made this very clear. I would suggest a course in hospitality as her attitude let the experience down. The breakfast itself was quite limited - just basic cereal, cheese, bread, yoghurts and very sweet pastries - the waitress also limited our milk allowance! Given the price of the accommodation, I expected better.
