I was fine with everything. But non-Japanese should be aware: this is a traditional Japanese Inn, with futons instead of western beds, wonderful onsens (both inside and out) instead of a private bath.shower, etc.

Very modern and new building. The staff is very friendly and accommodated an early check-in (handover of the keys) without hesitation because we would be gone for the whole day to watch the fireworks in Nagaoka.

The staff is wonderfully friendly. They speak very little English, but I never found that an issue. The breakfast is an incredible traditional Japanese breakfast. Both onsens are beautiful, and each has both an indoor and an outdoor hot tub. Blue is men, red women, and watch out: the reverse them day to day.

Please understand this is a traditional Japanese inn. There are no Western-style beds, only futon pads on a tatami mat. That's neither bad nor good, but some of you may find this surprising. Also, there's no shower or tub attached to your room, only two marvelous onsens on the top floor. There are private sinks and toilets, rest assured.
