Everything about this house was awesome. The furnishings, the decor, the location was just breathtaking. The sunsets from the pier was amazing. We had an egg hunt for the kids in the front and family game night twice in the evenings. We had plenty of room for our group of 10 to spread out and enjoy themselves. The jetted tub was an absolute favorite of the kids , they swam every night. The host Melinda was in contact throughout the stay making sure everything was great for us. For sure if you are looking for a home that looks like it was out of a better homes and gardens magazine with all the comfortable and amenities of a 5 star Hotel this is it. Fabulous property and views to die for. Every aspect of our stay was perfect from start to end. Melinda, the owner of the property was great and responsive to questions and made us feel at home in her beautiful home. This is not your typical rental property. Everything is top of the line. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the beach but close to everything. we will be back

Gorgeous spacious home with lovely views of the sound in a private neighborhood. Enjoyed the pool and the comforts of the residence. Loved being able to bring our dogs! Bathroom set up was a bit tricky at times between all of the bedrooms and wish the beach was a bit closer, but over all we greatly enjoyed the property. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to be able to contact her with questions. Thank you!

The house was very clean and well appointed - big kitchen that was perfect for family meal prep and evening hang-time! The owner was easy to communicate with and very quick to respond. There are many windows that have a great view of the sound. We had several days midweek where there were storms and rain - we cozied up on the couches and watched some pretty intense storms. We had an amazing week!

This property is beautiful, and the owner was great. We took our paddleboards, and had great trips out each day. We were able to take our dogs, and the fenced yard was perfect!

This property was a perfect spot for our weeklong getaway Aug 3-10, 2019. We spent the week cooking, fishing, and hanging at the pool. The location was perfect! If you like to be on the water, then this place is what you want. Kayaking/paddle boarding convenience can't be beat. We brought both of our dogs with us, which usually doesn't happen because most houses aren't pet friendly. They enjoyed lying by the pool and running in the fenced in yard. Checkin/out process was super easy, and Melinda was a great host and communicator! This is a great home if you are looking for a medium sized place. We had 9 staying and everybody felt like they had their own space. We will definitely be planning a return trip in the future!

The house itself is gorgeous, the owner is easily reached for any questions . Very clean . The paintings and decor are just elegant . The dock at the back is very relaxing . I sat there very morning while drinking coffee I wish I could take the dock and ocean home with me. The pool is great for family . We stayed with two other families and the house had everything we needed. The location is perfect right in the center of everything we wanted to visit . Beach is mere five minutes away! A great experience hands down . Will definitely come back !

Our extended family stayed the end of July/first of part of August. The pictures shown are accurate of the home. The pool and views of the sound are very nice. The kitchen is big and spacious. The beds are comfortable. We needed all 4 bedrooms so one of our sons & his wife had to endure the noise from the garage in the upstairs bedroom. The TV in that bedroom wasn’t hooked up but our son got it working. There were dirty washcloths left in two bathrooms and the smell of the water was awful. We had to keep bottled water in there to brush our teeth. The ceiling fan did not work in the middle bedroom. We either froze or the air was stuffy. This is a big house, but directions could have been clearer on how to regulate the air so the bedrooms were cooler and you didn’t have to freeze in the living area. Flood lights were burned out and we tried to replace them so the back yard could be lit up at night but they didn’t work. We agree with another reviewer that some general maintenance and sprucing up would help this rental. Over the years we have rented several homes through VRBO and have never had to bring packages in for the owner multiple times and notify them. The owner did stop by to reimburse us for filling up the propane tank and let us know ahead of time she was coming. Finally, we splurged to have this vacation since both our sons & their families were stateside at the same time. It has been almost 60 days and our security deposit has not been returned. We left the owner’s home clean and due to her waiting “30 days to return a deposit” she seems to have gotten us mixed up with someone else. She stated we spilt something on her couch and didn’t pay the pet deposit. I told her we never ate/drank in the den and then provided the owner a copy of my letter/check showing we paid the pet deposit. It is frustrating to pay all that money months ahead of time to secure the rental and then have this happen with our security deposit when we know we left the home in good shape. We will not rent this home again.

Our family had a great experience - first time staying sound side. Check in was easy a simple text and code. The view is amazing in the mornings and evenings. We had 2 young children in our group, and while the house was furnished nicer than what a typical beach house would be, everyone felt at home. The kitchen is gourmet. We cooked a lot. We really loved that such a nice home allowed us to bring our dog. Melinda was helpful and responsive anytime questions came up. She stopped by to do a car switch after texting to let us know, but we were on the beach so never met. My niece said it was the nicest beach house ever, but too many chandeliers for her. ☺ I appreciated looking at all the decor. We would absolutely recommend this home! Thanks for opening your home to us.

My family vacationed at this home June 2018. The home is beautiful. The pool is fantastic and the views of the sound are breathtaking. It truly was a wonderful place to stay. We had a couple of issues that week with the water and with the air conditioning but as soon as we called the owner she was on top of it. It’s in a great location very close to Manteo but also very secluded and private.

The house, location, pool, private dock - all are absolutely perfect. Couple of small things not worth to mention. BUT, this is my first OBX vacation that the owner actually contacted (text, call) us multiple times during our stay and wanted to meet us. Well, which may not be a bad thing, but DEFINITELY NOT something we wanted during our family vacation. I understand that the owner is actually living in this house, but still, that made all of us very uncomfortable during our stay. We want zero disruption during our stay for the thousands we spent on the rent. This has to be guaranteed for a vacation house like this. And I am still giving 4 star, being very generous : ), because the kids had tons of fun.

Beautiful location and decorated beautifully. Needs some TLC. The bedroom over the garage was not useable due to noise from the water pump. One of my guests almost fell over uneven flagstones in the front entrance. The view is spectacular and the pool is lovely. The owner needs to take the home out of service for a week or two to make repairs and not during the $4000 guest stay! The owner did respond quickly to issues we had during our stay.

Our stay at this lush and wonderfully appointed Manteo house was equal parts relaxing and frustrating. First, the good: The house is gorgeous. Modern, comfortable, with great views and professional quality appliances. It's a home, not just a summer cabin, and we were quite comfortable during our two-week stay. The location — right on Roanoke Sound, minutes from the US64 bridge and just outside of Manteo — was absolutely perfect. Very quiet in late November. The sunset views were stunning. The water was perfect. Very relaxing. The bad: The owner arrived at the house twice during our stay, having provided little or no notice. The first time, after sending texts, but receiving no response (my phone was off — vacation), she arrived unannounced. The second time she sent texts starting at 7am and then arrived at 9am with a workman. Not at our request. And not to fix anything broken, but to assess one of the home's gas fireplaces for remodeling, for her own use after we'd gone. We later learned the home is one of the owners actual residences, and that she has second-guessed renting to us so late in the season. On our day of departure, the owner arrived at exactly departure time and hovered as we packed our things into the car and left. Aside from the house itself, no amenities were provided. We were told to bring or rent our own sheets, but not told for what size beds. The pool was not clean. (Would we have used it in November? Maybe not, but it was almost 70 degrees for several days during our stay.) Long story short: We were not made to feel like guests. Instead, we felt as if we'd intruded on someone else's home. I have never felt so unwelcome in a rental home. And for the THOUSANDS of dollars we spent to rent this home, I am appalled at how we were treated.

We enjoyed this beautiful home, and the location was perfect. Although near all attractions we were far enough away to enjoy the quiet beauty of the Roanoke Sound. We watched dolphins frolic right outside , and caught lots of fish right from the dock! The house was impeccably clean, furnished very stylishly and a joy to cook in the completely outfitted kitchen. We cannot wait to go back!

I can't express how impressed we were with this house. We had a family of 5 and our two dogs. We had more than enough room. The front yard is fully gated so we did not have to worry about the dogs getting out. The house is very clean and the views from the pier are breathtaking. We discovered a running/biking trail at the end of the next street up and made great use out of it. We can't wait to book our next stay. Thanks so much Melinda!

We stayed for a week and had a relaxing time, I would highly recommend staying here. Most everything is 5-15 minutes away. A beautiful clean place to stay, the pool was awesome, and the dock was relaxing. We will definitely re-book on our next trip to the Outer Banks.

The home is beautifully decorated. It has everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is well equipped. The multiple living areas allow a large family to have their own space. The children's rooms are away from the master so sound doesn't travel to disturb your sleep. The pool in the center of the courtyard is surrounded by windows so you can always be in site. We had a few storms at night while there and you could barely hear them when inside. Don't miss out on this rental! We will book again next year. The view of the sound is breathtaking. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the dock and while in the home the sound views were spectacular. We crabbed and fished off the dock. I brought my mini schnauzer and yorkie. The backyard/dock is puppy friendly. We allowed the dogs off the leash the entire week with no worries. I think this the the best vacation my pups have ever experienced. Great vacation. Beautiful house, property and location. Incredible sunsets over the sound. Everything in the house was in great working order. I would recommend this to a family especially with the pool. Also, brought our dog who loved the dock!

One of the best vacations rentals I have ever rented in Outer Banks. The owner is great to work with. I always go once a year and stay beach front in June with my family members. This time we went to Outer Banks to attend a wedding and decided to go for something different. There were 8 adults and 1 child (7 yrs). You will love this home, I hope to make this "now" my vacation get away. The home is so relaxing, comfortable, and luxurious. Some of my family members tried out some crabbing and did catch some crabs in the crab cage, but with a short time frame, we did a release. Fishing is great, right on your private dock. Our trip was just too short! Highly recommend renting this house.. However, might not be such a great house for families with children under 5, as there are a lot of breakables in this home. My granddaughter is 7 and she knew that she could look but don't touch.
