We enjoyed an excellent 9 night stay at this villa. We had a lovely welcome from David who showed us around the villa and recommended a local festival in Lagoa which was well worth the visit!
We particularly liked the spacious rooms, excellent facilities, much needed air conditioning and welcome pack of food items.
The resort was lovely - clean, warm pools, friendly staff, nice and quiet with plenty of sunbeds.
The town of Carvoeiro was near enough for us to walk to, with lots of restaurants and evening entertainment.
Can't wait to return one day!

We had a wonderful time in Stefanie’s house. It was very a quaint, traditional style house with great air con (we needed it!) 2 comfortable bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, and fab big comfy sofa in the living area. Outdoor space was adequate too. A very generous welcome pack was much appreciated as we arrived late and it was a lovely touch. A couple of minutes walk to a reasonably priced convenience store and a little further to the swimming pool and snack bar. We used Uber / Bolt a lot while we were there as it was a very steep walk back up from the town, but the fares were only €4/5 per journey. We would definitely recommend this accommodation for families and we would be happy to return.

we had a lovely stay at Iona house. It is well equipped. Here and there needs some renovating, like kitchen and bathroom, but still everything works fine. It is well situated in park paraiso, near swimmingpools and restaurants.

The property was clean, tidy and had everything for a rental. Needs refurbishing throughout. But out of town so no good for older people who wish to walk to the village and around the area.

Lovely cosy house in a quiet location. The property was very clean and had everything we needed, we felt very much at home. David was there to meet us and was very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much bother. The house is close to all amenities which is a bonus. We’ll definitely come again. José & Sonia

Fijn vakantiehuisje

We really enjoyed thé house very convenaient and cosy. Thé house is in quick area close to every nice spotted beach . We enjoyed also the fact that the kids could go alone to the commune pool 5 min walk, the restaurant, the bar, the mini golf and the mini supermarket. We were 10 to 15 min away from nice spotted beaches, crowdy during the day but so great at the end of the day with sunset. We highly recommend this house and quinta do paraiso. Just a pity that the van of the neighbour was park in front of the balcony. We have parked once our car instead but as soon as we moved, they parked the van there again...so id to mention that the view of the balcony is right on the parking of 4 cars or vans...

Winter break
Property very tired.(Refurbished???)
Had obviously not been lived in for some time and was very cold and damp. We had to have a big fire going every night. As it was winter we were in most nights but TV had no UK channels. David kindly arranged for us to get them but of course we had to pay for that. The first night we were there when I pulled back the bed cover I found a hole in the bottom sheet. One of the bath towels was very frayed. On the plus side David was very helpful with any small issues we had and immediately got them sorted out. The welcome pack was very generous and we were grateful for it as we arrived late at night

Nice property in a great location close to restaurants. Owners lovely and the welcome pack of milk, bread eggs etc was a nice touch especially if arriving late after the shop has closed. Supermarket on site very reasonable and can highly reccomend the Italian restaurant on site

A peaceful stay, with everything we needed
We arrived quite late but David had communicated with us since we landed and was there to meet us and show us around. The welcome basket was very much appreciated, since we were too late and too tired to try to find dinner.
The villa is in a quiet cul-de-sac and had everything we needed, including Wi-Fi, TV, inside and outside dining areas and a kitchen with all appliances. The washer in the utility room was a real plus. It's a lovely, clean and well presented property and as a party of 3 we had more than enough space.
It's a two minute walk down the road to the main reception and access to the communal pools and bar. The bar hosts daily activities and we particularly enjoyed the quizzes where we received prizes in way of a free drink at the bar, or a garlic bread which we enjoyed in the affiliated Restaurant adjacent to Reception. There's a well stocked shop near Reception and Lidl is about a 30 minute drive, but well worth it if you plan to cook in the Villa.
The pool was fine and big, but please note there is no full time life guard or supervision and it is over 2 metres in the deep end. Just away from the main pool are two tennis courts which were available, though no one was using them. Had we stayed longer we'd have loved to have a few games.
It's around a 15-20 minute walk into town and the busy square. We'd recommend Onze, where the seafood skewers and pasta were delicious. It's mid priced but worth it and we'd certainly go back there.
A car is useful if you want to go further afield and though the beaches were a little busy, they are cosy and it was nice to get into the sea. Alvor is 30 minutes away by car and we enjoyed Prawn and Tuna salads at Sereia restaurant on the front - excellent value at €8.50.
We would thoroughly recommend Mato Serrão and are looking forward to going back again.
Best wishes and thanks to David and Stefanie.

Lovely little house in quiet residential complex. Excellent location.
We have had a lovely 10 days at Casa Iona. The house is lovely, comfy beds and everything you need. The location was ideal for us as it is on a quiet complex with access to a couple of nice pools and restaurants. The walk into Carvoeiro takes 15-20 mins but is a pleasant walk. Carvoeiro is v busy at this time of the year so we were happy to go and eat then leave the hustle and bustle. There are some amazing scenic beaches in the area but all v busy due to the time of year. We still got sunbeds or a place to set up camp but it is v busy. Our teenagers loved cliff jumping at Praia de Carvalho but again very busy and the sea is FREEZING!
Regarding the house we would just recommend some new garden furniture as the table is too wobbly to eat at and the chairs are uncomfortable. I think you need a new toilet seat too.
All round a great place to stay and we all had a fab holiday x nice safe location and suits families with little children and older teenagers alike.

Beautiful sunny spot
I thought the apartment was in a lovely quiet position with lovely sunny outside space. But it is looking a bit tired (hence 4 stars and not 5) and I was very disappointed with the TV. I rented in the winter for over 6 weeks and did not want to go out every night. The television had very few UK channels, was extremely old with a constant buzzing noise and a line permanently across it. I would’ve considered this apartment for next winter but not with such a poor tv.
On the plus side the heating was very efficient (another must in the winter). The washing machine was a bonus and it was warm enough to dry everything on the balcony. Quinta dos Paraiso is a lovely resort. The pools were super and with one heated I even managed a swim. It’s 15 minutes walk from the beautiful centre of Carvoeiro.

Quiet, private and a very good location. Access to all goods and services.
Really enjoyed our stay, apartment well equipped from the complementary food to get us started, with full laundry facilities and a fully functioning fireplace. David was a tremendous help and was always there to lend a hand. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend. Nicely furnished and you had a feeling of safety and security. We’re able to easily take many day trips and experience the western Algarve.

We had a lovely 10 night stay in Casa Iona.David met us on arrival and showed us round. The house is well equipped and has a dish washer, washing machine and dryer which helps when you have a 1 year old.The terrace was great for sunbathing. The communal pools were good, plenty of sun loungers. The mini market on site sells plenty of holiday basics - alcohol, crisps, fruit etc but for a big shop the Intermarche supermarket was €20 return in a taxi.15 minute walk into Carvoeiro, uphill on way back but we managed it fine with a pushchair.Overall a lovely stay.

The perfect villa for a lovely holiday
We had a lovely relaxing stay at Casa Iona which was the ideal place for a week away. The villa itself is lovely and open and the whitewashed walls really help with the traditional feel. The actual site has excellent facilities, we especially made use of the pool area. The staff are also very useful and speak good English, they are particularly good with recommendations and can easily help suggest which boat or kayak tour is best.
Only a 10-15 minute walk away from the villa are a number of pristine beaches, the highlight of them all of course being the main beach in Carvoeiro. There are some excellent restaurants nearby too serving great food at a superb price. We decided to hire a car which proved to be hugely useful. It helped us with transport from the airport, around a 1 hour 15 minute drive, it also helped us with getting around and exploring into Portimao and beyond. There were a number of good restaurants here and a beautiful beach, rock and pebble free, just consisting of white sand.
We would also recommend a trip to see the caves as they really are quite a sight and are one of the things that the Algarve is apparently most famous for. We chose to see them by kayak which was a lot of fun, although it does rely quite heavily on the sea conditions and how much wind there is on the day.
The villa is itself is well equipped also for just having a day in relaxing and cooking yourself, the fridge usefully also has a couple of things stocked which are very useful for breakfast on the first morning and possibly some leftovers for lunch too!
All in all a fantastic holiday made possible by this villa at such a good price. Forget package holidays, this is the way to go!
We look forward to returning!

5 Star Casa Iona !!
We arrived in mid-late August, hoping to avoid the busy summer holidays but still capture the sun - we weren't dissappointed.
The taxi from Faro Airport is only an hours drive (comfortable enough in a air conditioned cab), and split between the four of us, was a reasonable price too.
The welcome from the manager when we arrived was warming and very useful - they had also provided the essentials for us in the fridge!
The Villa itself has everything you need, whether you're looking to eat in three meals a day or just the occasional meal-time.
Everything you need is provided and the Quinta do Paraiso complex has a little supermarket where you can get food for your meals without the need to travel more than 2 minutes down the complex if desired.
The complex itself has two well priced restaurants with really good food, and a pool bar where you can grab a light bite to eat for lunch while relaxing by the pools in the sun.
There's activities day and night if that takes your fancy with a fun entertainment team, great for kids and adults alike.
If you didn't want to leave Quinta do Paraiso you wouldn't need to, but I'd definitely recommend talking to short walk down to Carvoeiro town and visiting the beach and many restaurants/shops down there too. If you're feeling adventurous there are some stunning little coves not far from the town beach and they are well worth exploring. (take a camera, you'll get some postcard worthy photos for sure!)
It was a brilliant holiday, and I wished I could have taken another week too visit the many popular places further out from Quinta do Paraiso.
5 out 5 Stars, I'll look forward to going back at some point!

cant praise Casa Iona highly enough
staying here was a truly lovely experience, from the warm welcome and excellent service provided by the managers, to the great location and first class facilities within the villa and complex.
Set in a quiet location, the villa is only a short walk or drive to the gorgeous little beach with its coves and rock formations to explore, sandy beach to enjoy and bustling little quayside with the daily market, restaurants and quiet bars. if you are looking for value for money and dont want a benidorm package experience then this is a genuine find, we loved our stay at Casa Iona and didnt want to come home!!
tips:
1. hire a car - whilst the beach is walkable, it is a steep walk back and there are also some great locations to explore around (the bone chapel at Alcantarilha was a fun, if a little bizarre, visit!!)
2, explore the cliffs and caves to the east of the beach, it costs nothing and we were there pretty much all day, the views and the rocks and caves are breathtaking.
3, eat sardines on the seafront. about 6 euros each and as the sun is setting on the sea you will enjoy one of lifes great meals.
thats about it, a fantastic place to visit and far better value for money than many holidays of a similar price.

“Staying at this villa was an absolute treat”
This villa actually feels more like a well-loved family home than a holiday rental with a lovely calm and happy ambience. It is comfortable, clean and well equipped with lots of little touches that make you feel at home. Like the ‘essentials’ in the fridge when you arrive and dish-washing tablets and washing powder being provided. But it is also the thoughtful touches like finding books and magazines provided for guests. Ideal as we spent so much time reading and relaxing on this holiday we finished ours!
Outside is a very sunny balcony with a table and chairs, great for some quiet time reading or for eating and drinking. Just a couple of minutes walk away is a spacious pool area where we spent a time lazing on a sun lounger and having the occasional swim in the pool. There is a bar there that serves drinks and food that was also very nice.
The villa is in a great position for exploring the Algarve. Just a short drive in the car and you are in Lagos and Portimao where just strolling around the avenues and marinas is a good way to spend some time. But not to be missed are the beaches on the West Coast, particularly Cordoama Beach which has to be one of the most stunning beaches in the world. Truly beautiful and just a handful of people there when we went in early September, but still very warm. You can take a picnic, but we had a lovely lunch at the cafe there overlooking the beach which was delicious... another bonus.
Before we went we were a bit worried that eating out in the evening would be expensive in Portugal. But we found some really great places locally to eat and drink that were very reasonably priced. One place in particular just a few minutes walk from the Villa served a starter, main course and seemingly unlimited wine and soft drinks for 9 Euros a head!! With a friendly atmosphere and such delicious food we loved it and ate there about four nights of holiday! There is a book in the villa where previous guests have written their recommendations, I suggest anybody else staying there just does what we did and follow their suggestions.
We were a couple staying there but it would work equally well for a family with young children (I think lots of families stay there was there were children’s games for guests to use). We thoroughly recommend this villa, we loved every minute and cannot wait to go back!

What a Fantastic Holiday!
What a fantastic find this place was! After a busy year we just wanted to go to the sun and relax for a week and the house provided the ideal location for this to happen.
Situated in a lovely quiet enclave, the house was well maintained and spotlessly cleaned. Everything worked and we had no issues, however it was still reassuringly pleasant to get a couple of visits from the facility managers to see how we were doing and to have a chat. It was good to know that there was someone there for you if you needed them.
Breakfast on the sun drenched front terrace was a joy each morning as we were blessed with a superbly sunny week. The slow paced atmosphere soaking away the domestic hustle and bustle and restoring our inner peace.
Having a car made the beautiful, rugged west coast sandy beaches accessible to us, being only another hour and a half’s drive away. It is twenty years since I last visited the Algarve and the new motorway makes such a vast difference to travel times. It now gives you the choice to get somewhere quickly, or to meander through villages and towns enjoying the Portuguese experience. We just went to the coast a couple of times during our week in order to add a little variety to our relaxation.
If you enjoy walking then the stunning coast is just a 20 minute walk away. Its hidden coves and beaches are a real delight to discover on a gentle ramble which can be made into a circular walk ending up in a local hostelry for refreshments!
Finally the Casa de Pasto must be mentioned as a great place to eat. It is only a five minute walk away and serves two or three dishes a night, it is always comfortably busy and gives brilliant value for money. The folks running the place are really friendly and they are very family friendly.
We will certainly be returning!

Nice
We spent great two weeks in Casa Iona which is located in nice area. Carvoeiro is a nice and quiet village with small restaurants and great food. Rented car gave us possibility to visit lots of beaches and interesting places like Zoomarine or Slide & Splash.
Thanks a lot for nice time.

Casa Iona/ Holiday
Charl and Suzanne from Berkshire: This was the best family-holiday we've ever been on and outstanding value for money too! A combination of spot-on architecture and decor makes the visitor feel relaxed immediately upon stepping through the door. Everything has been thought of for you and your family to start enjoying yourselves instantly upon arrival. The cleaning service leaves you free to enjoy more time with the children. The facilities are excellent and mostly free.

Fun in the Sun
My partner and I visited Casa Iona in September 2008. We are in our 30's and were looking for a comfortable place to get away to with easy access to beaches, restaurants and local villages. The property is beautifully appointed and has every amenity that you could require (washing machine, dishwasher, TV with Freeview). Inside the property is tastefully decorated, well maintained and very comfortable. There is a sunny veranda where we had breakfast and dinner (with locally brought fresh fish). The town itself is walkable and has some wonderful restaurants and shops which sell local produce. The locals were very friendly and always willing to sit and chat with you and tell you about the area and all the good things to see and do. We hired a car and visited different beaches, the variety of which was asounding, from small coves to large stretches with calm waters, to larger stretches with surfers. The complex has its own shop and provides daily entertainment if interested, we were invited to play volleyball. It is one of those places where there is plenty to do if you want it or you can easily find your own space and chill out. We loved it and will definately be back.

Casa Iona - 5 Stars
My wife and I celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary at Casa Iona. It was fantastic and the villa a wonderfully secluded and peaceful place to relax and celebrate. The villa is superbly presented, prettily positioned and within an easy and interesting walk from Carvoeiro. We enjoyed breakfasts on the patio, lounging by the pool and sampled many of the local restaurants. The weather was excellent for our stay, so much so that we were glad of the air-conditioning that the villa enjoys. Whether for a family or just a couple, this is a great place to holiday with lots of interesting places and stunning beaches close by and we highly recommend it. We'll definitely visit Casa Iona again. Paul

our hols in the algarve
We had a great holiday in the algarve in July'07. i travelled with my husband, son (16yrs) and daughter(11yrs). We were all very surprised at the quality of the accomadation, it was beautiful. The villa was very spacious, clean and fully equipped. The country club itself was also very clean and pretty. The entertainment on site was poor but we found the village had lots on in the evening. I would certainly recommend this villa and would like to go back again sometime in the future
