We loved our stay from start to finish! Bob and Melissa have very communication throughout our stay - message a couple days before check-in with instructions, quick response time when we had a question about the TV and informative message prior to check-out. Right when we walked-in we were welcomed to a cool house and everything was very clean. Amenities such as pool toys, lawn games and beach gear made our stay even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this home and will definitely stay here again if we come back to the area.

Wow what a great week I had at the Island house. The condo was absolutely spotless and just as described. Bob and Melissa have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They are also very easy to get in touch with for any questions you may have. Location to the beach is great and having a golf cart is a big plus. These owners have went above and beyond with providing beach gear, chairs, umbrellas etc. It was also an added bonus being able to bring my fur baby which enjoyed the front deck as much as I did early in the mornings. I will definitely be booking this place again next year. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We were very happy with our stay at the Island House. The convenience of having somewhere to stay in a quiet residential neighborhood just a block from the beach was wonderful. The condo is extremely clean, nicely decorated, and feels just like home. The added bonus for us was the ability to bring our golden retriever along for the week. We will definitely return!

Hats off to Bob & Melissa for thinking of everything you could possibly need for your stay. All you need is your clothes and food. The home was spotless, comfortable, convenient to everything and only 2 blocks to the beach. The home also has a swimming pool. All beach items were included -chairs, umbrellas, blankets and bicycles which was a bonus. We will definitely be returning!

This was our first time to Surf side, SC and not our last. We drove from NY with our 8 and 10 year old kids and ofcourse our puppy. The property was very comfortable, clean, convenient and felt like home. The owners have thought of everything including beach gear! The property owner got back to us within minutes when we text him with a question about the golf cart. Also, renting the golf cart is a must! It made our vacation even more fun and enjoyable! We will be back.

We were so hesitant about not being in an ocean front condo in Myrtle Beach which we are used to, but we knew we couldn’t leave our dog at home. We came across this and it seemed perfect . Well I have to say I was very surprised that we loved the area so much! Laid back and quiet ! Couldn’t have been a better vacation for us. We will definitely be back and want the same rental for sure ! Thanks for making everything so easy from check in to access to everything. Surfside is our new vacation spot!

Island House - A was clean and felt like home. My family enjoyed our stay in Surfside and the convenience of the beach to the unit. The amenities the unit offered were perfect for a relaxing vacation. We can't wait to return to Island House.

Family of 4- 2 small boys/We really enjoyed our vacation. The condo was nice and stocked with all we needed, but we would have preferred more privacy. Looking back we kind of feel sick about our trip. The owner made us feel like we didn’t respect his property over an umbrella that wasn’t worth bringing in from the beach. It is really heart breaking because we would’ve loved to revisit in that same unit over fall break and the same time next year. At the time of our stay, the property owner was in the unit beside us. At times, it felt like we were being watched. The unit is as advertised and shares a car port with the other 4 units. One night, we were rinsing off beach gear and the owner was definitely watching us as we were sorting what we had brought from home and what was from the condo. It made me feel like he thought we were going to steal something. He was walking all around the carport and looking in our designated shed…Not a feeling you want to get when you’ve paid $200+ a night. The beach gear left a lot to be desired. It didn’t really match the condo. The chairs were hard to fold and rusty. The umbrella and tool used to screw the umbrella in weren’t fit to be used. The tool was made from wood and had duct tape all around it and the part you use to drill into the ground was really rusty. The one day we did take it to the beach, it almost fell on one of my sons. The umbrella was broken from the minute we unfolded it. The pole looked like it had been broken in half and was glued and possibly taped together with white tape. The prongs that held the umbrella up we’re all broken on one side. It was quite windy that day and it kept flapping making it almost fold in half. It actually flew out of the ground at one point. I secured it, but my wife was afraid it was going to hit someone. By this point, she was frustrated and scorched from spending the day under the flimsy umbrella. Instead of lugging it, the crummy chairs, and the heavy wooden tool for the umbrella- I trashed it. Apparently, the owner was watching us even at the beach or saw it later and took it out of the trash. He charged us $40 for damaging his umbrella. On the phone he told us that he put it back in the shed after we left for the next guest. So why did he charge us $40 for damaging an umbrella and then saying over the phone nothing was wrong with it. We meant to let him know that it was broken, but we didn’t think it was a huge deal since it was in such bad shape.

Nice area. Clean. Updated. The owner thought of about everything providing games to play on the beach and at the condo. Beds were comfortable and it was nice being able to take the dogs. This was the cleanest pet friendly place i have stayed at. That was a huge plus for me. It was easy to get a hold of the owner if needed. Also, he provided a golf cart at an extra cost. The pool was on the small side but it seemed most were in the area. There wasn't any patio furniture around the pool but there was nice outdoor furniture on the front porch. There was fans provided which helped keep you cool. Overall i would recommend staying there and i plan on going back.

This was our first time using VRBO and we could not have had a better experience. The owners were amazing and thoughtful with everything! Everything that we could have wanted or needed to make our trip fantastic was right at our fingertips. We definitely will be looking to come back again next year!

The townhouse was very nice & stocked to the hilt with everything you need to cook, serve, & enjoy. The pool was great. It was clean & the water temp perfect. The location was perfect, a block from the beach. We rented the golf cart which was great. We buzzed around to the beach, supermarket, & restaurants. There are beach chairs & a buggy to carry things to the beach they also have 2 bikes for your use. We really enjoyed our stay. It was perfect.

Excellent home and perfectly located. Weve stayed in surfside a dozen times and this was the best vacation ever. This house has it all and the owners are fantastic. Thanks for having us and we want to come back!!!

This was our second time staying at this property and we will continue to return. The location is perfect with very easy access to the beach and we love the semi-private pool. We also appreciate the cleanliness of the unit, despite being dog friendly! Bob and Melissa pay attention to the little details that will make you feel at home!

Beautiful place, super location, prompt responses from host. I would recommend Island House to friends and family.

I had spoke to the owner about a late check out because we were arriving later on. He said it was fine just to make sure not to shut the door until we left because of the code, we were met at 10 am sharp with two people that were the “cleaning crew” and when I went out to tell them we were getting everything together and trying to make sure things were cleaned when we left that we had only been there since 11 pm the night before. The man said “it’s not their job to clean” but I got charged a cleaning fee from the beginning. The really frustrating part was going back upstairs to finish getting things together and listening to them trash talk us because of our tattoos with the neighbor. Guess the prior conversation I had with the owner didn’t matter because I have tattoos. What I can say is the place is nice, the people I dealt with, not sure exactly who they were, most likely the owners were rude and pushy, and unprofessional. We left everything the way we found it, we have yet to get our deposit back so it seems they might be the type to look for any reason to keep the deposit. Fair warning
