4 of us stayed at the cottage, each with our own room and bathroom. What a great setup. We felt very safe and comfortable. Short walking distance to restaurants, groceries, and the beach. Once you enter the gate to the home, it is like you are in your own private garden oasis with great outdoor sitting areas and a pool. One bedroom had an outdoor shower that we used frequently. The kitchen had everything we needed including filtered water and a coffee maker. The Wi-Fi always worked and battery powered lights were provided for load shedding, which turned out to not be as big a deal as we thought it might be. The manager, Privledge, stopped by each day to clean and make sure we had everything we needed. What a great, kind person. This was our first time to South Africa and we had an absolute 5 star stay! We would recommend to anyone visiting Cape Town/Camps Bay.

Perfect position and place to stay

This is a perfect location and provides everything we needed for our Cape Town stay. Shell Cottage is a little gem and we recommend it 5* Privilege was helpful and looked after us 1st class.

Great communications with host, great care taken to make us all comfortable and welcome. Privilege took good care of us and always with a smile. We had a very comfortable stay in the middle of camps bay within easy reach of other attractions, beach, restaurants and supermarkets.

I did not find Vrbo a reliable app to use. The payment platform failed for both of my transactions and did not send me payment reminders. Property host was fine but curt.

Shell Cottage is very well situated, only 2 minutes walk from the Beach and restaurants. The house is cozy and has a lot of charm! It is not very big but has anything you need! However, there is no shower in one of the bathrooms, only a bathtub with no shower head, the shower is outside (too cold) and the door is very hard to open. Our overall feeling was great, however, I feel like the house shall be renovated slightly to improve a few things (, shower in the bathroom, sofas on the verandah, timber flooring in dining makes a lot of noise, the two bedroom doors (leading to the dining) could be improved to reduce noise). Otherwise, I do recommend it!! Worth the price!

Standing on the patio, looking up at Lion's Head on a perfect, late winter afternoon, with sunbirds darting to and from the feeder, we knew we'd made the right choice with Shell Cottage. The house was welcoming and spotless, thanks to Priviledge, the lovely housekeeper. Over the next few days we couldn't have asked for a better location from which to explore the coastline, winelands, and Cape Town's attractions. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

Everything was perfect- Property manager, amazing house keeper, beautiful garden, 2 blocks to the ocean. We’d love to come back soon!

So pleased to have spent 2 weeks here on holiday. The location is incredible ---so close to beach and main street in Camps Bay. The house is spacious with plenty of room for several people. We traveled with our children (3.5/1.5) and they loved the home, the pool and the ability to walk to the beach or playgrounds near by. The weekday cleaning by Priv kept the house tidy and comfortable throughout our trip. With ample bathrooms and showers this would easily fit more adults and children with room to spare. So pleased to have spent the time here and would absolutely recommend. Alia the owner was so helpful with a couple questions we had and communication and check-in was a breeze. My wife and I love Cape Town and this home made our journey so easy and pleasurable. Thank you!

A perfectly located comfortable and cosy place to stay especially over a very wet weekend! Despite the unseasonal weather we had a lot of fun and laughs around the log fire and walking on stunning Camps Bay beach. Excellent base from which to explore the many beautiful beaches and sites. And of course Cape Town.

Our group of 6 were perfectly accommodated in Shell Cottage, a private bathroom for each of 3 couples, a nice kitchen to prepare breakfast and the PERFECT location to enjoy the restaurants of Camps Bay with the beach a few steps from the house. I would return in a heartbeat! Thanks to Alia and Priveldge, the caretaker for providing all the needs for a perfect stay.

The house is just like it is pictured. We were very comfortable in this daring cottage, which was cozy on chilly winter days.

The location of this cottage is hard to beat, with a short cut making it 2 minutes to the waterfront and beach. Camps Bay Seafront is teaming with great restaurants and coffee shops, a great place for a cocktail to watch the sunset. There is a Pick n Pay for groceries and soon to be a Woolworths Foods, you never have to leave Camps Bay (other than to buy alcohol). The cottage is historic and has been added to over time making it the 4 bedroom place it is today. The draw back is that the shape is unusual and the kitchen very small when you have a party of 7 in there. The plus is that there is plenty of privacy for a large group and having two sitting areas (one inside and one outside) also adds to the relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend this cottage as being a great place to stay, but would add that the pictures appear better than the place is in person. The garden has been allowed to go somewhat wild and its beauty would greatly improve from some serious clearing out of undergrowth and pruning. The furniture is also a little more tired in real life than in the pictures, but very comfortable. We also found that the outdoor shower was not really something that one wanted to use for a morning shower! The host is very responsive and certainly made us feel very welcome, her staff is well trained and the cottage very clean when we arrived.

Absolutely will be returning to Shell Cottage! Perfect location only 3 minutes walk to the beach, with a beautiful private garden with large pool, lots of lovely sitting areas and superbly equipped. Super contact with host Alia, daily cleaning service from the lovely Privelege and Cape Town hints from Carole really round off this wonderful find!

There is absolutely nothing we could suggest to make it any better...it's beautifully designed, smoothly run with excellent staff, superb communication throughout and so generously stocked that you know that the owners truly care about their guests. We had a great experience with our rental in Cape Town. Alison was extremely accommodating with our very late check in process. We most enjoyed the location with the brief walk to the stunning Camp's Bay beach.

The house was very comfortable for seven adults and had so much character. Great location close to Table Mountain, Signal Hill and Chapman’s Peak. Alia gave us lots of useful information for our stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. We loved having a housekeeper come in everyday and clean up after us! We loved that we were literally 10 minutes from downtown Cape town, yet we were close to all the amenities and just a short walk to the beach. We felt very safe, the house fit our family perfectly. Allison was a delight to work with throughout. We were there during the winter, and being from Arizona, were a bit cold. Allison had extra heaters brought in to make sure we were comfortable. We were a bit concerned about the water situation in Cape town. She addressed our concerns, and had lots and lots of bottled water stored and ready for us should we want it. There was private parking. We were met at the home by Allison when we first arrived, and there was someone there as well when we left. This was a great experience, I highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a fabulous trip to South Africa!

A block from the water's edge, Shell Cottage is a retreat well back from the street. We had great privacy in a small piece of paradise with gardens and a pool surrounding us. Alia, our landlady was enormously accommodating: our flight out of Cape Town was at midnight. She had no rentals arranged for the next day and she let us leave our suitcases at Shell Cottage until the evening and use Shell Cottage to freshen up after an additional day of exploring Cape Town. I offered to pay her for this and she declined. As with everyone that we met in South Africa, she was wonderfully gracious. I gave Shell Cottage 5 stars: it deserves 6.

My family and I stayed at the Shell Cottage for our recent holiday in Cape Town and we could not have had a better time! The house is beautiful and turned out to be incredibly comfortable for our group of 7 adults. Each room is private and well appointed with beautiful bathrooms, comfortable beds, and private or semi-private courtyards. The house is just as pictured. We enjoyed the mountain views from the front yard. I cannot imagine a better location to stay in Cape Town! Tons of nice restaurants and awesome beaches are within walking distance from the house. All the major sights are a short drive away. The Shell Cottage is really quiet and private, even though it is so close to the main business strip. Ali is an awesome host and Priviledge (the house keeper) was lovely! Thank you for having us! We will certainly be back!

We had a wonderful time! This is a beautiful home and we very much enjoyed our stay. We kept a pretty hectic agenda to fit in all of our activities during the day, so it was great to come back to such a nice place to relax. It is a great location - centrally located for day trips around the area and within easy walking distance to restaurants / the beach. I only regret that we did not plan enough time to spend just enjoying the home more. I hope for a return visit in the future! I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.
