I loved the location- so close to the beach, and the neighborhood was so friendly. We really enjoyed the time we spent here.

The place was really nice - TV with netflix and also well working AC. Tamarin is a lovely spot for surfers. We were also able to rent a scooter and got some local tipps from Charone, the owner of the place. She lives above the flat and is really helpful. She also got a Surf-Shop and offers Surf lessons. Tamarin has a nice public beach is the the top spot to swim with dolphins. Charone can also give you a contact here. She is very helpful and also cleaned the flat two times in 14 days (offered to do it three times but we didnt need it). In general: The national forest is near and easy to access from Tamarin (but you need a scooter or car anyways) - we highly recommend to do the trail of Tamarind Falls - 7 really beautiful waterfalls (you don't need a guide). Also the south of Mauritius were really lovely to explore (Le Morne surfer beach - really nice food truck there). Tamarin restaurant cosa nostra (amazing pizza). La Vanille crocodile park in the south-east. Rhumerie Charamel and exploring the national park. 7 coloured earth park and charamel waterfall.

At the beginning we were kind of shocked of the neighbourhood to be honest. It seemed like the poor part of Tamarin and we didn't feel safe. The neighbours were sometimes noisy as well - I didn't care that much but my boyfriend had problems sleeping well. But anyways after spending some days we realized that the locals were very friendly and helpful. At the end we enjoyed our stay and were lucky to get to know Mauritius from a different perspective. In general: Nevertheless I wouldn't advice to wear your most expensive jewelery on the street or beach. Don't leave your money at the beach when you go swimming. Be careful when driving the scooter. The streets are not in the best condition and often wet. Be prepared for cloudy weather while traveling in winter (even if they tell you this is the driest season) - we only had 2 days without clouds and 2 days raining the whole day. Most days it rained a litte - mostly in the highlands/ national forest. The coral reefs were ok but nothing special (as most of the time dead mostly and not many fishes). Luckily no shark problems in Mauritius though. The beaches are also ok but not comparable to Maledives for example (in our opinion). Palm trees are only in front of luxury hotels and not on public beaches. There are a lot of stray dogs on the street (mostly not aggressive to humans but its really sad to watch because all of them have flees and other diseases) Anyways: be prepared that it is maybe not the dream island you expected - but it is worth a visit and an adventure.

Really nice, modern apartment with cozy terrace and king sized bed. Local shop is near. Owner is really kind and helpful. Free parking just in front of the house. + direct contact to surf and kite lessons

Neighborhood is a bit noisy, and there is no direct path to the beach.
