We travel a lot and stay in VRBOs quite a bit. This is by far the most amazing host ever. He was so generous. We absolutely loved the place. One of the best stocked homes we stayed in. It had everything. We, our grandchildren, and their parents, all enjoyed the game room, but we are outdoors people and had the best time on the dock. We saw deer, hawks, ducks, and best of all, a family of 5 otters from the dock. Our grandchildren loved fishing from the dock where they caught and released bream. We took the kayaks out and paddled up stream. It is truly an amazingly beautiful peaceful river. Winn-Dixie and other stores are less than a 5 minute drive away. There is nothing left undone here! The House, the river, the wildlife, but mostly the host made this a great time for us and our family.

Everyone thought this property was special with the location, game room, bar, deck, shed of supplies, boats and more. Not to mention the crystal clear cool water and seeing the otters everyday! Great time.

Love this location ! Really couldn’t get much better. Had something for everyone . And so nice to have kayaks and canoes right in the back yard. There was enough space for our group of 8. Great neighborhood to start your day with a run. grocery and restaurants are all super close . Would recommend anyone to stay , and we definitely would love to come back! Thanks Hal for all the extras it was so nice of you ! And thanks to Ellen as well for even contacting me that we left something that she would return back.

We enjoyed this riverfront property very much. The amenities were first rate, only wish they had a larger tv. Gorgeous riverfront views and easy access to the beautiful Rainbow River. Will return if they'll have us!

If you are looking for a perfect family location this is the place to rent! You won’t want to leave the property - except for floating downriver in your tube for a bit to eat and a delicious cocktail at Swampys. Hal and Sandy are amazing and generous hosts who will make sure you have everything you could possibly need or want, they even asked ahead what the kids and we like to drink and snack so it would be waiting for us! Ellen the housekeeper sent us a welcoming text and made sure to Let us know she was available if anything was amiss- nothing was! It’s a perfect gem, from the otters to the juke box! The house was lovingly decorated for Christmas and a surprise gift was waiting for us! Hal wants to make your stay your best vacation ever (his own words) and he does succeed! We are a group of outdoorsy women in our 60's and 70's who take an annual trip together. We enjoyed being on the river and also spent 2 days biking the nearby Withlacoochee State Trail. The house was perfect for us and we especially enjoyed the bar with it lovely view of the river. The dock was great to enjoy morning coffee and evening Happy Hours. We would definitely return to this house.

Hal is the ultimate host and Ellen is amazing! We stayed at Chimera for the weekend with our college children and their friends and had a great time. Every comfort was thought of from the fun kayaks to the chilled wine at check in. We will definitely be back!

We loved everything about our stay! We tubed 1.5 hours down from the other property and also 2 hours down to Swampys to eat from our property! We loved the game room and all the added actives such as kayaks, snorkels, you name it! Thanks Hal!

From the moment we booked, Hal reached out and started communications with us. By the time our travel dates arrived, I felt I was going to be staying at a friends house. This is our 3rd house we have rented right in the Rainbow River. (Same group of us have traveled the last 3 years for long weekends) and we all agree Chimera is our favorite by far! Located right on the river, easy access into the river (each river house has different ways to get in the River) and ample room for adults to move around the house. Oh, the bonus, not a single one of our guests could hear things going on in the house when they tried to sleep. The house is stocked really well, the whole leave what you don’t use (if you’d like) comes in handy with condiments, cereal, coffee, tea, etc. The house is clean, the jukebox was super cool, but there was also a radio for us to have “background” noise. We are already talking about our 2022 trip and hope Hal will approve our stay once we pick our dates. Being able to launch into the river from Hal’s other property further up river is priceless. Priceless because you don’t have to pay $ at the state/county park, but also because we made friends with the other guests and have a feeling we will be doing more with them in the future.

Wow, where do I start? First of all the property manager, Hal was amazing and so helpful in the weeks and days leading up to our trip. He is so thorough and takes pride in giving guests the best experience no matter what. Ellen, the housekeeper kept in touch with us the day of and made the check in so easy. She is delightful!! The house has everything you need and more and it is all in good condition and ready to go. The house is right on the river just about in between KP Hole and Swampys, which is perfect. We dropped in once at their other property ( Meriki) and floated to our dock and got out. We also dropped in from our dock three times and floated down to Swampys where you exit the river. We also used the kayaks and the canoe numerous times. Plenty of deck space and enough room for everyone inside too. I definitely recommend this place and I am looking forward to booking it again. Dont wait too long, reserve your dates if you see them. You wont be disappointed!!!

The house was perfect! The kids and adults loved the game room, we had a-lot of fun at the bar area and living rooms but the view and the river are amazing! We really enjoyed Kayaking and floating down the river. Having Meraki house to get into the river and getting out at Chimera was so easy and just the right amount of time, about an hour and a half on the river. The beds were comfortable and there were so many extras at the house I don’t have room to list them all, but the refrigerator being stocked with our favorite beverages was above and beyond the norm and very much appreciated! Ellen, thank you for all your help. Hal and Sandy, thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us. I would definitely stay at Chimera again and I look forward to it.

My family and I spent 9 beautiful days here at the best location, on the most beautiful river in Florida. Tubing, Kayaking, swimming, and boating. We had local families in the area and entertained some of them for a cookout on the enormous, beautiful deck overlooking the river a couple of times. Everything you could ever think of was provided, including kayaks, canoes, horseshoes, cornhole broads, and a gas grill. The Gameroom with junk box was very entertaining when rain forced us inside for a few hours. The dock was our main attraction, from watching tubers float up and down the river to otters feeding and playing in the evenings; the wildlife was amazing to watch. I could go on and on, but to sum it all up, it was one of the most enjoyable family vacation retreats we have ever experienced. Owners Hal and Sandy and their assistant, Ellen, were very helpful and easy to work with. Chimera really is the best location on the most beautiful river in Florida.

Our family had such a wonderful stay at Chimera. The view of the River is gorgeous! The home is very spacious and was equipped with everything you could possibly need while in the home as well as toys to play with in and on the River! We loved sitting out back on the deck or on the dock looking out on the River as we enjoyed our morning coffee. All the grandkids loved playing in the yard and playing in the River!! Thank you Hal and Sandy for opening up your beautiful home to our family and thank you for all the very thoughtful extra’s that made our stay so extra special. We will be back!!

My friends and I had a blast for 5 days and 4 nights at Chimera. I actually had different groups of friends rotate in over that time and the house accommodated everyone and their needs perfectly. Hal and Sandy were very gracious hosts and made sure we had everything necessary for the trip. Being able to dock my boat there allowed us unfettered access to the entire river 24 hours a day. What a fantastic experience!! For most of us, this was our first Rainbow River trip and it could not have been better. Anyone who stays at Chimera is bound to feel the same.

From the charming town of Dunnellon to Chimera ideally placed on the Rainbow River with placid views of the state park forest, our home away for the week was a dream come true. Situated on a quiet cul-de-sac, Chimera is a comfortable and welcoming home with room for everyone and a game room enjoyed by all. From age 5 to 72 we played and swam in the crystal clear river water. Accessing the river upstream at Meraki was brilliant and super easy. We kayaked, tubed, fished, floated and enjoyed watching people floating and boating down the river. We saw 2 common snapping turtles pass under the dock, one of which was huge! The water birds, ducks and otters were a delight. The house and storage shed were completely and perfectly stocked making our stay so easy. The Blue Gator and Front Porch welcomed our group of 11 with ease and served up delicious meals with superb service. I could go on and on….. Our stay at Chimera was all I hoped it would be.

From great communication from the owners and management company To a fully stocked and ready home, this vacation rental was a no hassle stay. Would love to come back.

Absolutely can't beat the location or the convenience of floating from the other property directly to your back door!

This was our first time on Rainbow River and couldn't have been happier with our home choice. The hosts were extremely accommodating and the house was cozy for the 8 members of our party. We how to be back again soon.

This could not be a better place. The river is absolutely beautiful and the home is fully stocked with everything you could possibly want for an enjoyable stay. The layout is exceptional with one master ensuite upstairs and a similar ensuite downstairs with a third bathroom. Great game room for rainy days. Sitting on the dock at night looking at the stars puts you in another world. Nothing but enjoyment
