This is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Hosts are friendly, helped plan some day trips and even enjoyed some tequila with the guys. The palapa is perfect for watching fish, yoga and drinking wine in the pouring rain. The pool is a clean and crisp refresher. The gardens! If you love to wander and look at fauna, I think there’s over 10 varieties of orchids here. So many other plants as well! The grounds are also very alive in lizards! This house was a great place to be. Short walk, or cart ride to town and great swimming beaches. Highly recommend this place.

One of the most beautiful and exquisitely manicured properties in which we have ever stayed. The pics don’t do the gardens/pool/dock justice. You have to see it yourself. The sunsets from the roof and the sunrises from the dock are incredible. We got a golf cart, Capt Jax was great) but you are within walking distance to great restaurants. Make sure you try Wendy’s for breakfast and drinks and dinner at “The Other Side”. They come get you in a boat. Ring the bell! Luisa, Rolando, and Eddie (spelling?? Sorry) are the absolutely the best. They were there for whatever we needed. The tour of the town and recommendations were so helpful. Thanks to all.

Loved our stay at this beautiful Villa down in Placencia village. We made good use of the private pool, dock and roof deck. The sunrises and sunsets were fabulous. It was a huge bonus to be able to view the Thurs. night football game on the large satellite TV - 1st game of the 2023 season!!! The Bluetooth speakers were a nice touch by the pool - thank you! We will be back and Lousia was great and informative - nice find!

Words fail me when I try to describe the beauty of this property. Previous reviews from other travelers state that the pictures do not do the property justice. I think this is an accurate statement. The pictures, although Beautiful, do not capture the true essence of the property. This property is exquisite. It’s very private and the host as well as the property manager Louisa was incredible. I will definitely be staying here again. The town of Placencia is a beautiful community. I fell in love with the culture and the food Thank you to Gail and Paul for sharing your beautiful home!!!! Just a sidenote, I highly recommend bringing bug repellent while traveling to Belize. The bugs are very prevalent.

You drive down a dirt road come to a tall fence and open the door and wow. All the beautiful trees, pool and house. Would recommend this place to anyone

The interior space of the property is more than fine, but the real attraction to this property is the outside space. The swimming pool is large and deep (7 feet) and absolutely gorgeous. The grounds around it are beautifully manicured with palms, orchids, and other flowering bushes. The palapa deck provides a lovely view of the sea and a cool breeze. We took a couple of excursions around Placencia, but spent most of our time floating around in the pool. Wouldn't change a thing!

This place is absolutely amazing. The outside area is huge and a tropical paradise. Worth every penny.

There is no way for photos to do this place justice. It is truly a beautiful property, located in a village that is full of character and history. On site, the pool and the gardens are amazing. We were there for 10 days, and I feel like I saw something new every day. You can wander and look at the flowers, watch the birds, and take in all of the smells and sounds. The pool is lovely and there are lots of places to relax...each with its own view and feel. Inside, the rooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. Lots of room to move around, lots of closet and drawer space. Everything was super clean. We felt well taken care of during the stay. We had a lot of questions, and Luisa always was kind and helpful as we navigated our adventures, even as one of us was unexpectedly on crutches for the entire vacation. This trip was a graduation present for our 18 year old son, and it was a memorable and special trip for him and us. We truly hope we can make it back someday!

Property is beautiful. We stayed 7 nights and enjoyed cooking at the property, lounging in and around the pool and on the private deck. We walked into town to enjoy dinner every evening. Locals are friendly. There are lots of options for dinner in town. We enjoyed several tours with snorkling, fishing and the Jungle Monkey tour. It was super hot but cold AC in the house and while the power did go out in town, the homes generator worked to perfection. A great vacation!

The Starfish Villa is the ultimate in relaxation. So quiet and by far the most beautiful place we have stayed at yet! On the gorgeous Caribbean Sea, literally in the mist of it on the private villa dock…our stress melted away as we sat under the palapa located at the end of the dock ! The gentle breeze lulling us to sleep…Heaven on earth!!! The yard is an oasis, a flower garden and plant lovers dream come true. Impeccable, impressive, and beautiful. You have private luxurious grounds to walk through and marvel at in your own back yard! We mostly walked everywhere and took a taxi twice when we were pinched for time to get to another amazing dinner at a local restaurant (could hardly pull away from the palapa!). We talked with locals, the most wonderful friendly people that you will ever meet. And none more so than Luisa and Eder the caretakers of Starfish Villa. They both were so kind, helpful, and professional, telling us of all the great places to see, the restaurants to try, even taking us to shop for essentials before going to the Villa. And then there is Gail and Paul. The best! Wow, so informative, helpful, and meticulously caring for our every need. Even when something we didn’t think twice about occurred, they went out of their way to accommodate. You are a class act Gail and Paul! Our last night we sat under the palapa…a full moon reflecting off the Caribbean Sea, the warm breeze gently blew under the palapa...thanks for everything Gail and Paul!

We loved the grounds, the pool, and the house. Almost everything was perfect. Two things to improve however. This house needs access to the ocean. It would be such a treat to get into the ocean directly from the shore. The other item is the air conditioner in the main bedroom never worked. There is a separate control, but it did nothing that we could figure out, and even the maintenance people for the house could not figure it out. Other than those two things, we highly recommend this property. Location is great, pool is amazing, Louisa is a wonderful resource for everything and is always there to help. Stay here people!!

Starfish Villa is hands down one of the most magical places I have ever stayed. It is beautiful. The grounds are impeccable, the unit is beautiful, very clean (I’m picky), well stocked and very comfortable. The pool, which is just for your use, is huge, cleaned daily and pristine. I noticed pools are fairly rare in Placencia, and after a morning of activities, coming back to that pool was great. The owners, Paul and Gail, were extremely helpful with suggesting things for us to do, and went out of their way to book tours and excursions for us, saving us the hassle. I cannot state enough how unique and amazing this rental is. The gardens are incredible, there’s a well appointed outdoor kitchen and a lovely dock right over the water. We stayed 8 nights, which was not long enough. The pictures do not begin to show how fantastic this place is. I love Starfish Villa.

Starfish Villa was just perfect! The grounds and home are beautiful and well-maintained with thoughtful touches that were much appreciated. Gail & Paul are excellent hosts--friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Watch for dolphins and rays from the palapa, enjoy sunset on the roof, or listen to some music while lounging by the pool, all in a premiere location! We can't wait to go back to Placencia and to stay at Starfish Villa again!

Starfish Villa is the perfect location for a tropical getaway. The house and grounds are gorgeous, family friendly and ideally situated within walking distance to the charming village of Placencia. The hosts, Gail and Paul, go above and beyond to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They have in-depth knowledge of the area and made great recommendations for excursions. We brought our two sons, ages 9 and 15, and they loved the pool and palapa dock. The kitchen had everything for cooking and there was an outdoor kitchen by the pool that we also used. There were so many good choices for local eateries that we didn't cook as much as we expected. We loved the privacy of the house as well. The pool and gardens are enclosed from the street so that even though you are close to the village, it is private and peaceful. We stayed for almost two weeks and strongly recommend booking a nice long stay. You will fall in love with Starfish Villa and Placencia.

This property is better than advertised. The owners and their caretakers are friendly, responsive and they all will go out of their way to help make your trip amazing. Our two boys spent countless hours in the pool while we were able to relax on the palapa and watch the wildlife. We had a fantastic time and hope to make it back sometime soon.

Paul and Gail were so gracious working with us over 2.5 years to reschedule our original 2020 pandemic booking. The wait was well worth it! The property was even more breathtaking than the pictures we had looked at for years. We spent many hours in the private pool, stargazing at night and studying the amazing scenery in the daylight. Morning coffee on the palapa dock overlooking the harbor and watching the sunset from the rooftop deck were also experiences that fed our souls. With the wonderful village right up the road and the amenities outside, it would have been hard to be inside. But the decor and locally curated art in the perfectly appointed space made indoor time fabulous too. Pristine and also very comfortable. Gail and Paul were so accommodating and made sure our stay was the best it could be. We have already passed along the property information to people who were intrigued by our photos, and could not recommend Starfish Villa more! Perfect location and perfect property! We will be back!

It was a second visit so obviously a favorite. Gail and Paul's place is like paradise - beautiful dock looking out over the sea - watched every amazing sunrise as pelicans and egrets flew by. Gorgeous gardens with orchids, fruit trees and a variety of delightful tropical blooms. Sunsets from the rooftop nest are just as incredible as the sunrises. Stunning pool and outdoor space with grills, large table. Very comfortable. Inside is spacious, sunny and airy with everything well-kept and clean. Kitchen is well-equipped and large. Bathrooms are large, a bit whimsical and aesthetically pleasing. Out door shower in the master bath is awesome. I have yet to meet Paul but Gail was there and was a great host - scheduling excursions (she knows all the best folks), massages and helping us with anything that we needed. The staff -Luisa and Rolly - helped us with a variety of things including doing our laundry (for a small cost). I am extremely grateful to be able to have spend time again at Gail and Paul's place. Cannot recommend highly enough. Nancy

Gorgeous property. Great place to stay if you're actually spending time at the house to take advantage of the pool, bbq, view, etc. (as opposed to being gone on day trips, diving trips, etc) Probably due for a visit from the exterminator.

Our stay was heavenly. The pictures are accurate and better in person. It is an oasis in the town of Placencia Belize. Close enough to walk into town for supplies and dinner at the restaurants. We cooked breakfast in the house and went out for dinner every day. Plenty of choices and good eating.

We loved everything about the starfish villa! Pool, house, garden were everything we wanted and more! Highly recommend this property and traveling to placencia!

My wife, goods friends and myself decided to go to Belize for vacation and celebrate my 60 birthday. We looked for some time at several listings trying to find a place that would accommodate all of our wish list items. Gail and Paul's house was all that and more. The house and grounds are better than the pictures show, the Saltwater pool with waterfall was amazing!!! The list goes on such as the indoor kitchen only to be matched by the outdoor bar and BBQ area, the dock with the Palapa, the rooftop deck with viewing looking east and west the beautiful grounds with the native flora. If all that wasn't enough the help we received with the with caretakers was amazing also. They were able to help us book some excursions that only enhanced our vacation. Thank you, Louisa, for all your assistance. When I come back to Placencia, I will be staying at Starfish Villa. Tony

This is a gorgeous property. It like a small piece of paradise! The house was beautiful and the gardens and pool was like something out of a home and garden magazine. The property manager was very helpful with any questions and helped to book our monkey river excursion with Percy! Percy was so fun and knowledgeable. We loved everything about our visit.

This place is spectacular! I cannot recommend it enough. It is even more beautiful and perfect than pictures show! If you are thinking about staying do it!!

We had a great stay at the Starfish Villa! Originally we had concerns about booking a place where the owner and staff lived on the property, that was not an issue at all! We were not able to meet Paul and Gail as they spend 6 months of the year in Canada. So they were not on the property. Louisa and Rolando were however we rarely knew they were there. The only time we saw them was if we had questions or Rolando was cleaning the pool and garden area. They are both super helpful and very knowledgeable of the area. Everything was immaculate; from cleanliness to decor this house is stunning. I highly recommend booking your next Belize trip at the Starfish Villa!

We had a great time. Just loved the house and courtyard. Spent mornings on dock with cup of coffee and just enjoyed the relaxing view. I am definitely returning for another stay. Maybe longer next time.

Placencia is a wonderful Belize destination! If you are wondering where to go in Belize, I would say it is the perfect choice! Paul and Gail’s house could not be in a better location. We walked to town in 5 minutes, but it was also completely private, safe and quiet. The salt water pool drew me to choose their place and it did not disappoint! It was so clean and refreshing! The pool was definitely better than the beach for swimming. Paul and Gail and super helpful for arranging outtings. They were also a lifesaver in helping us get to the pharmacy when needed. Do not miss the opportunity to go on the tour with Percy to Monkey River. Of all the things we did in Belize, it was definitely the highlight. That guy should be famous :) thank you all!

Wonderful location, walking distance for everything in the village! The gardens at the house make it such a special get-away feel. The hosts were absolutely wonderful in every way!

My wife and I booked Paul and Gail’s house for our anniversary and it was amazing! The landscaping, the private dock, the rooftop lookout, and the beautiful pool were just a few of the things that make this place so special! Could not have asked for better hosts either, Paul and Gail were so helpful with anything we needed and helped make our stay a memorable one! We highly recommend staying here!
