Really enjoyed our stay here. Jeanelle was a wonderful host. Gave us plenty of privacy but was readily available if we needed anything. And the view from our room was phenomenal! We spent hours just reading, relaxing and enjoying the view. Great location, just minutes from Capitola. We look forward to staying here again.

So first let me start off by addressing those who complained about this place… yes it’s someone’s home and yes you can hear sounds but if you we’re staying home you would hear sounds as well… the view is amazing and Jeanell is an awesome host, always ready to help you out like lighting the fire pit… and when sitting outside and enjoying the views she’s not watching you, you really don’t know if she’s home. We were greeted with a welcome sign and a very cute gift that was left on the bed…. This is our second time here and I will make it a yearly event… if your looking for a relaxing time and no BS this is the place… Thanks for an amazing weekend Jeanell

Despite the fact that the Seacliff Beach is forever changed with the loss of the pier, the views from the patio just can't be beat. From Monterey to 41st Avenue... sweeping and gorgeous.

I planned this trip for my wife’s birthday. Jeanell was very accommodating. I asked if we could checkout an hour later and she agreed. There was a severe storm warning the weekend of our trip. When we arrived Jeanell greeted us and offer us the use of the hot tub for making trip.

The amazing view and plush bed, the large bath and colorful decor, our time here was peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling.

We stopped for a few days over my birthday wanting something with an ocean view. We loved the property, loved the town and the hostess was awesome. Little touches throughout the unit really attract your attention. The details were just awesome. We’ll be back for sure!!

This listing is for a bedroom in a house. It is not private at all. The hosts living quarters look down onto the "private" patio with wall to wall windows. There are two seperate doors that lead to other rooms in the hosts house. One of these doors is in the bathroom and is a glass door covered with a piece of fabric. You can hear everything that is going on above you and around you. No doors to the bathroom, no window coverings to the large wall to wall windows in the bathroom. NO PRIVACY! Please review the one and two start reviews. They are completely accurate! We had planned to stay one night and left 10 minutes after we arrived. I informed the host that we were leaving and requested a refund due to the misleading listing. She was extremely rude and denied all statements I was making. My husband and I had driven 4 hrs to stay at this rental and we decided that we would rather drive home than stay one night in that fish bowl, soggy bed, unsanitary rental. I have been staying in VRBO for years now and I have never had an experience like this. The host should not be in the position of providing hospitality because she is not hospitable.

Supper nice location, awesome sunsets, nice fire pit(s) great acces to beach and surrounding beach towns. For me, the SUPER SOFT, bed was a bit uncomfortable. None the less, I'd stay again. Cheers!

Gorgeous view of Monterey Bay, easy to access activities. Host is very thoughtful in preparations.

All was great. not much of a kitchen, but not a problem for us. You can cook outside on a gas BBQ, has a mini fridge, microwave, hot plate, etc. Store is close by and plenty of take out opportunities. beautiful view of the bay/beach. pleasant owner. would recommend.

My girlfriend and I had an extraordinary stay here at Happy House. The views are epic and even more incredible in real life than the pictures do justice. It was very comfortable, everything was functioning well and well cared for, clean and upkept. The thoughtful and generous owner left a sweet sign for us and quite a few gifts. This place is truly a hidden gem and I would definitely love to stay here again

Everything is very thought out and intentional about this place. It's beautiful. Just a few blocks from the beach and to hear the ocean while you sleep is truly special.

We were ready for quirky, and ok with quirky. But this was bizarre. 5 star ratings are fake! Beware! Left this 5 day stay after only one night. The worst bed I have ever slept on. We each sunk into a deep hole in the mattress. The outside is unusable. If I could upload pictures of how this really looks I would. Cluttered, not dirty per se, but very musty! Decorative rocks in the bottom of each sink that you spit into were unpleasant at best. Kitchen appliances if you wish to use them have to be brought outside to plug them in. To take a shower you have to go through a 10 minutes process to get hot water. Owner lives on property and you can hear the owner moving around upstairs. This is a dingy basement studio, at best. Lights burned out, unstable WiFi….on and on. You’ve been warned!

We had a great stay. The view is gorgeous and the accommodations comfortable. It’s quirky, but charming.

We recently stayed at this rental for my husbands 40th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 😃 The landscaping of the property is absolutely gorgeous with lush greenery everywhere and the view is TO DIE FOR!! The entire front of the rental is windows so you have gorgeous views of the ocean from the bed, the jetted tub and the shower! Don’t worry… it’s completely private and no risk of anybody being able to see you in your nakedness! 😉 Once you go out and the exquisite patio you can see the entire Monterey Bay! It. Is. Spectacular!! Some may find the decor quirky but we found it whimsical and utterly charming!! 🥰 Similar to other reviewers, the only cons were the lack of spaces to put your items (there are no closets, dressers, etc.), limited availability of outlets (we had to unplug some of the nightlights so we could use our chargers), and the lack of a full size refrigerator/freezer. There is a mini fridge (which was stocked with eggs and homemade(?) seeded bread 😀) but not much room for anything else and no freezer. We only stayed one night so it wasn’t really an issue but it could be if you were planning a longer visit. There is no sink in the kitchen so things must be rinsed in the bathroom sinks, which is doable but I felt a little guilty pouring leftover wine over the pretty stones and sea glass that decorate the bottom of the basin. But the space was cozy, the jetted tub lovely (if a little small for two adults 😂 made fir done great laughs though!), the bed was super comfy, the temperature perfect and we enjoyed hearing the waves crashing all night, which was soothing and lovely. On top of it being my husbands 40th birthday it was also our first night away from our newborn and the property owner made our stay extra special by having roses, lit candles and music playing when we arrived. 😊 She had also left a birthday gift bag for my hubby and even a goodie bag for our new baby! So very thoughtful and sweet! Overall we had a wonderful stay! We would recommend to a single person or adult couple, and we look forward to staying here again in the future. 😁👍🏻👍🏻

So Geez where do I begin. The view of the ocean is amazing. Far walk to the beach. This place has a toilet which has no door and is not private which was soo odd. It’s this place is so outdated complete with a skipping CD player and also a collection of cassette tapes. I wish I had pics for you. Run away, we left a day early. You’ve been warned. I just hate getting BS’d!! You will see what I mean if you decide to bypass my honest and 100% accurate review. No fridge, no ice, not even water. It’s much worse that that. The sinks are lined with old colored stones. This place is truly bizzare!

A very unique property with an exceptional, unobstructed view of the Monterey Bay. Comfortable and cozy, even on a somewhat rainy week. Everything was well thought out and provided, but if there is a need, it is conveniently located to many nearby amenities. We will be returning to enjoy this location in the future!

I took my husband on a quick surprise birthday getaway. The sunset was so beautiful and enjoyed sitting by the fire pit listening to the ocean below!

My husband and I stayed here for our 5 year wedding anniversary and it was totally the getaway we needed! The ocean views from this patio are to die for... and can be seen from anywhere inside the studio, too! There are so many ocean facing windows but you still feel you have your privacy because no one outside can see in at all. Of course you can also close the drapes as needed... and oh those black out drapes were heavenly so this tired mom & dad could get some much needed rest. Then in the morning we could enjoy our coffee while hearing the waves crash and ocean air surround us. The shower with an ocean view was pretty sweet, the soaker jetted tub a dream... we loved the outside fire table in the evening, too. And the nearby town of Capitola was so charming we spent a lot of time there. Jeanell was super easy to work with, fast responder and accommodated all of our needs. A few things I could criticize which we didn't have a problem overlooking: the front yard you walk through to get to the studio smells like dog pee and there are too many nick nacks inside and outside for my taste. It was kinda hard to find a place to put stuff down. Plenty of chairs, though. At least inside surfaces were clean and not dusty as far as we could see on all the decorations and ornamental objects :) In the end, I would definitely recommend this place if you are into quirky decor with incredible ocean views.
