The location is out in the country which is what we were looking for. The house is large enough for us to all have our own space but also be able to congregate with space.

We were all so pleased with this property. Upon arrival the home was sparkling clean and smelled amazing too. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the big kitchen & living room. The den was an extra surprise along with the pool table in the garage. It was perfect!

We have absolutely no complaints. The property was very clean and comfortable and the host was very hospitable and ensured all of our needs were met upon arrival. I highly recommend this property and we will definitely be returning eventually.

Fantastic property, beautiful house, great views at night to just sit and look at the stars or to watch the country side. Has a great walking path around the property the owner was great easy to work with. It had everything that was needed for a family reunion, to me it was the perfect house to see how peaceful and beautiful kansas can be.

Amazing house, beautiful surroundings
We stayed here overnight for a stop between Missouri and Colorado. What a find! The house was amazing. Huge, exceptionally clean, and the surroundings were so peaceful.
It was perfect for our overnight stay but would be a really relaxing place for a longer stay, the perfect place to get away. I can imagine how pretty it would be with the changing seasons.
The owner was very responsive and the house lacked no comfort. The internet was blazing fast too, which you might not expect to find!
We plan to be back on our return drive. This place really is a gem!

Blissful Solitude
I've stayed at South 40 Lodge several times and it's always an excellent experience! Property is only a short drive (15 mins) from anything you may need but located in the most gorgeous isolated spot where the only sound is nature. House is spacious, well equipped and super clean. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience an awesome view, sunsets and night sky.

What a wonderful place
We stayed 4 weeks at the south 40 lodge. It's such a beautiful place in the country side of Kansas. The yard and the view from the porch are amazing and we enjoyed every minute.

All the sights and sounds of country living
We drove to Kansas to experience life in the heart of America. We were a little surprised by the dirt roads but enjoyed seeing sunrise to sunset on the hill at South 40 Lodge. It was super clean, super roomy and Ritchie left plenty of items to ensure we were ready to enjoy our visit upon arrival. While there we visited the Eisenhower Library, Saline and Little Sweden and found great BBQ closer to Kansas City for a day trip. We were happy to bring our truck since the rural roads would have been difficult to maneuver without it and its snow tires. Best of all we hearing the cows, coyotes and birds from afar and seeing the wheat grow in front of our eyes. Really enjoyed our stay and Ritchie’s hospitality. Would have loved to learn more about farming at that scale.

Perfection...
The Sister retreat we had at this beautiful VRB0 was perfect. Well stocked kitchen and the whole home was well planned and meticulously clean. We loved the Flint Hills View and the quietness of the surroundings. Can’t wait to come again.

Outdoor Wedding
This place was absolutely perfect! Everything we wanted plus more. Anything we could have needed was supplied and the hose was absolutely amazing! We definitely plan on renting this home out again. The house was clean everything was very easy to find. Plus I loved the games and cards tucked away😊

I'm hooked!
The closest place to heaven on earth with a night sky you can can only imagine. Not only was the Milky Way amazing but we saw the most perfect shooting star, complete with sparkly tail. My second visit and won't be the last! Ritchie is a super 5 star host!

Quality family time
We were visiting family in salina (from mn) and wanted a gathering space that wasn't confined to hotel rooms (especially since public pools were closed throughout the state). South 40 lodge was beautiful and private. Ritchie was very helpful and hospitable. We had a movie night on the giant TV in the living room, played board games, and even took some family portraits in front of the gorgeous sunset. We will be back.

The South Forty is a wonderful property if you are hoping to get away from it all.
We checked in with no problem. Our dogs loved running in the huge yard. We sat out on the back porch at night and watched the sun go down and later thunderstorms in the distance.

A gift basket awaited us, which was such a nice touch to show appreciation of our visit.Mr. Tarn was happy to meet with us when we checked in to give little tips about the home and the area. Additionally, he was very communicative throughout the entire process. I received detailed directions to the property several days in advance. During our stay, I had a few questions for the owner (some more important than others), and always received a prompt reply.We had planned on visiting the Eisenhower Library (which is why we reserved this home), but sadly, the federal government had closed the Eisenhower Museum and Library. We decided to not cancel our travel plans and are so happy we didn’t. We were still able to have some enjoyment in Abilene, but even if nothing at all was open, staying at the South 40 Lodge was reason enough to make the trip.

Beautiful Views
This house over looks wheat fields and other crops. The sunsets were amazing. There was a full during our stay so that was amazing as well. The house is nicely decorated and well stocked with all you need for your stay. The yard was big enough for us to have a spirited game of kickball with the family. The pictures in the listing do not do this place justice. The only family enjoyed their stay. We had to run my son in law out because he wanted to just live in the house. ;) The host was very helpful. It was so peaceful; we will stay there again.

Wonderful stay
This is the second time staying at the forty. It is so peaceful out on the forty. Would not even think of staying anywhere else when we visit the area. You won't be disappointed if you stay at the forty.

Fantastic rural experience!
We stayed at this property during a multi-day road trip and wish we had stayed longer! We were traveling with a dog so having space for him to run was wonderful after and before long days in the car. The house itself was very clean and the accommodations were quite comfortable. Would absolutely stay here again and would spend several nights the next time!
