Went down for a friends weekend. House was beautiful, and everyone having their own suite was appreciated. Having breakfast made every morning was great. Would absolutely book again.

The rental was gorgeous. Beautiful patio surrounded by nature. The sound of the river and birds was beautiful to wake up to. However, if you don't like mosquitos, Iguanas, and lizards this might not be the place for you. This house is ideal for adults or families with older children. All bedrooms are separate so I cannot imagine this set up working if you have small children and want to place them in their own room. We had our 9 month old and she was able to sleep in our bedroom since we had a king size bed. I subtracted one star only because house said there was a high chair for baby, however there was none at the home. I even confirmed with Delia. I would like to highlight that Josefina and Delia were the sweetest humans around. They prepared delicious guacamole, and amazing breakfast.

This property was absolutely beautiful! It’s authenticity made it a wonderful experience! The ladies made us the most amazing meals and helped with anything we needed. I would definitely rent this home again! If I could say anything I would say that I wish the pool was heated. The pool is in an area that wash shaded most of the day, so it did not get very warm. The beauty of this rental far outweighed that!

We came to PV for a girls trip and had a lovely stay at this home. Each room is unique and feels very separate. The doors to each room open to the courtyard or outdoors which was fun. That being said, be sure to close doors and curtains at night to keep to rooms cool and bugs out. The location was very central to everything we wanted to do in town. We had a great time overall. I would definitely stay here again

We stayed at Villa Leonardo in late July 2022. Overall I would say the experience was positive. The best part of the property is Josefina and Delia. They made delicious breakfasts daily and kept the place tidy and clean. Another positive part of the property is the location. It's close and within walking distance to everything. The property itself is beautiful and very historic. The AC in the bedrooms is great, but be aware for the rest of the house you really need to embrace the concept of outdoor living as is standard in many older Mexican homes. There is some critical feedback I will offer. It's quite pricey so for what we were paying I would expect that doors close all the way and stay closed (upstairs bedroom, not in the main house). During the rainy season, the doors would open easily with the weather soaking the floor. The ceilings also leaked in both upstairs bedrooms when it rained. The pool is also in dire need of a resurface. It would be nice as well for all the rooms to have a TV that worked with Netflix. Some TV's did work and had Netflix, but not all. Easy, but important fixes to help make future guests stay more enjoyable. Should we return to Puerto Vallarta we would stay again,

Josefina and Delia are amazing! They are truly the kindest women and took very good care of us. If you are looking for a modern home this would not be for you; however, if you appreciate art, Mexican architecture, open spaces, and fabulous foliage this is absolutely the place for you! It is unique and comfortable as all the rooms have air conditioning and there is plenty of spaces for privacy.

My wife and I love visiting Puerto Vallarta and this was our first time staying in Gringo Gulch. What a fabulous location! So close and walkable to everything, yet quiet in the evenings. Delia and Josefina took wonderful care of us. We loved overlooking Rio Cuale, and that pool is absolutely perfect!

Wow, this villa is beautiful and has a lot of history! It does however need some work. There was a sewage smell coming from the drains and some of the tiles were missing and the floors uneven, But overall we had a great stay. The location is absolutely perfect, close to the beach, Malecon, lots of restaurants. I initially chose this place because I had been to Puerto Vallarta in the past and wanted to be near the river however we found out after arriving that a hurricane came and the river had been dried up for the last several months. This may have contributed to the smell and heat. Luckily the air conditioning units did work in the rooms. The pool was wonderful and dalya and Josefina did an amazing job cooking us breakfast and providing us with information! Because of all the open air in the home I would say that this is more like “Glamping ”. If you are not okay with bugs I would use caution. I still would come back, but hope that the owner can do some renovations to make things a little more up-to-date. All in all, had a great time! Loved having fresh margaritas, chips, and salsa homemade when we arrived. Again, perfect location!

Our stay at Leonarda was amazing! An eclectic collection of spaces provided an idyllic backdrop to our relaxing vacation with unique accommodations for everyone. The pool was warm, the courtyard delightful, and shady nooks provided a respite from the sun. Delia and Justinia were as nice as can be and Delia's guacamole is truly outstanding! The easy going villa was just what we had hoped for our vacation. Due to it's open air design, there's a bit of a lack of privacy with most of the rooms, which wasn't an issue for us, but if you needed completely enclosed rooms, it could be an issue. We reveled in the experience of having Ernesto (the giant green iguana), Manny (the friendly cat), the nightly army of leafcutter ants (Hormigas), a tree-full of chirping birds, and other urban animals share the space with us, but I can see how these cohabitants may not be so welcome for everyone. They were some of the highlights of our stay! There were some mosquitos, but bug spray was on hand and we all found the mosquito nets around the bed to be charming and effective. Though not the villa's fault, construction along the river is ongoing - so be prepared for construction noise and associated odors until it is complete. The villa is within easy walking distance to great restaurants and the Love Bridge, while remaining convenient to shops and the beach. Access will only improve when the construction of the nearby bridges are complete. Overall, we loved it and hope to come back to stay!

This Villa is by far the most charming, enchanting place I have ever stayed. It is a piece of history and a work of art. The architecture is so fanciful that photographs cannot do it justice. There were ten of us, all adults, who love spending time together but also value space and privacy. Each couple had an exquisite bedroom and bath, all spacious, elegant, and whimsical, and all situated for privacy. The house is really two or three buildings with a series of stairways, decks, verandas, and covered open air areas. It is situated around a stunning courtyard which overlooks the river and has a pool and areas for sunning, napping, reading, dining, dancing, birdwatching, or iguana sighting, The kitchen is open air with a very comfortable seating area. The living and dining area are very elegant but it was too beautiful outside so we just admired it. We were welcomed by Delia and Josefina, two kind ladies who took excellent care of us. They had a round of margaritas and guacamole ready when we got there. It could not have been more perfect. Delia made us wonderful breakfasts, Josefina served us gracefully. One night we had a birthday party and they did such a wonderful job! I kept on discovering works of art. I did not keep count, but there are lions all over the house. Staying here was an honor. I do love movies. I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, John Huston, and that whole era of Hollywood history. This place is authentic. It is the real deal.

I don’t even know where to begin with this… From the moment we arrived, it was as if we walked into old Mexico! Stunning architecture, private, and a perfect layout for my family. Delia and Josefina are the women who took care of us all week and couldn’t have been more lovely. They cooked breakfast for us every morning to our specifications, kept our house and rooms fresh and tidy, and helped us with our Spanish! If these walls could talk…The history of this Villa is such a great story… you can really imagine all the artists and celebrities that enjoyed this space. The beautiful views on the top decks were where we’d watch the sunset. All the bedrooms had air-conditioning and ceiling fans. My family is a tough group to please! The kid's ages range from 12 to 32 and they all have different ideas and expectations… this place did not disappoint one of us!!! One thing you do have to realize, is that it is a very lush tropical like jungle surrounding the house. If you have problems with iguanas crossing your path, or little harmless bugs from time to time, this may not be your place. But, if you truly want to immerse yourself in a villa that feels like Mexico and enjoy seeing lush grounds and nature in Mexico, definitely stay here!! We were a quick three or four block walk to the Malecon… We loved that, there were no steep hills to climb, and we could go to the beach every day if we’d like without any effort. But mostly, just being inside the Villa was enough for everyone! So much space and decks to spread out if you wanted to. We also hired a private chef, Edwardo. He made works of art for meals and so delicious! Incredible 5 star meals every night, and completely affordable for our group of 10! I truly hope my family can go back and visit, and stay in this outstanding Villa again, it will be one of our most memorable family vacations. Thank you again Delia, Josefina and Chef Edwardo!!!

Our group of 10 adults had an incredible time. The property is actually quite large, especially by downtown standards, and the bedrooms are well spaced and private across the two buildings. Whether we were enjoying the sunset from the 3rd level terrace, hitting the pool or just enjoying a cocktail while listening to the river rush by, it was actually difficult to leave the house at times. The lovely staff will take care of any need you may have but are never in the way. We especially enjoyed the breakfasts (made to order) that they prepared. Really a top notch experience. The location must be one of, if not THE, best for a property of this size in El Centro. For the times you want to stay close to the house: within a block is a great little spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, chocolates AND cigars (Vallarta Factory), one of the best dinner spots (Trio) and, of course, an Oxxo convenience store sits around most corners in PV. There's also an internationally known bank (with atm) for safely pulling out pesos if you need them. If venturing out further towards the Romantic Zone or Malecon, it's a very easy walk from this address. We were extremely happy to have found Villa Leonarda and I'd be willing to bet that you will feel the same.

Place was great for a large group. The house ladies we’re exceptional. Had a hot water problem, fixed within hours of notifying owner. Definitely recommend.

If you are looking for an authentic travel experience Villa Leonarda is it! The property is huge with multiple living spaces connected by a cool pool. There are no truly closed in spaces—-all open tote outdoors and awesome. The jungle is at your fingertips and the culture right outside your door. We loved our time here with our kids ages 9-13 and recommend to anyone looking for an adventure outside your routine resort vacay. This villa is safe, the people are wonderful and the overall experience was exactly what we were looking for! Thank you!!!

Beautiful, quiet, and tranquil property, just a short walk from the ocean and Malecon boardwalk. Josephina and Deliah were nothing short of amazing, they cooked a wonderful breakfast, cleaned and did our laundry daily. The courtyard and pool were a perfect place to gather and enjoy drinks together as a group. I highly recommend booking this villa for your stay in Puerto Vallarta!

Upon walking into Villa Leonarda, we were quite surprised with the property. It is more extravagant than the pics show. The pool is a great relaxation point. Delia and Josephina were terrific and able to whip of a fantastic breakfast whenever needed. The location is convenient. Walking to most of the places in Old Town were easy and took no longer than 20 min. The Villa is very open air. If you are not used to that, the Villa may be uncomfortable for you. My only complaint for the Villa is the walls are not sound proofed. If you are a light sleeper or have loud housemates that like to stay up late, you will be able to hear them. I was able to sleep through the background noise but I am a rather sound sleeper. Our housemates that stayed in rooms outside of the main house did not have issues with sound from what I was told. All in all, you will appreciate the space. We would book again on our next PVR trip.

First I will say that the house was gorgeous and a beautiful unique venue to host my family! We all love the detail of the space and especially the backdrop of the plants, art, and overall feel of the space. Dalia and Josephina (spelling?) we’re so accommodating and responsive to our needs and requests;) we had delicious found prepared by the staff and felt well cared for. And the pool was our haven! So perfect with the backdrop of all of the foliage! When the air units did not work in all spaces they promptly got fans for us...the refrigerator did not work well but they had someone out right away to take a look at it. Some items that could be attended to: —the room I stayed in (top level of the east units) did not have cold water available in the shower...the handle was stripped so it just came off when I tried to turn it) I didn’t want to put one more task on the ladies for fixing since we had already made a couple of other requests....but it should be fixed. —You may want to advertise that the main house does not have any air-conditioning in the living room as it is very hot during the off-season and the fan did not work in the living room —You also may want to specify that there are actually several stairs as we had elderly individuals staying in the space and could only stay on bottom level rooms —There is a room that shares a wall that has openings in the ceiling of the wall to the apartment next-door… This was an issue on our last night as the individuals that were staying in the apartment were very loud and not very respectful of our request for them to be quieter during the later hours of the evening. The single door between the 2 spaces felt a bit “too close” and not as private when noise was an issue Overall my family had such a wonderful time and felt very cared for by the staff! What a wonderful location and such a truly unique and historical feeling space!

We could not be more happy with our stay at Villa Leonarda. From the minute you walk in the door, the tranquil jungle feel takes your breath away. We felt like movie stars, living in the lap of luxury. The house is very open, in any given room, you never feel like you are exactly inside. Lots of fresh air and breezes. The welcome guacamole and ceviche and margs were heavenly, a great way to start our vacation in paradise. Dalia and Josephina, the housekeepers are so sweet and there to tend to your every need. The beauty of this place is that it is in the heart of the action in Old Town, easy to walk to everything, but it also feels like a secluded Oasis in the middle of the jungle. Very private. You will hear a lot of normal city sounds... But they are off in the distance. Be aware you will be surrounded by wildlife. Some bugs, lots of stray cats, iguanas... But for us that just added to the charm. The art and history of the villa is so amazing... You can feel the stories of many years and many incredible people in the walls. They have updated the place beautifully, without taking any of it's historic energy. Definitely get at least one dinner made by the chef!! The paella was incredible, as well as all the sides. It was a great deal, and enough for two meals. We paid for one breakfast, which was delicious, and about the same price of the dinner, but we also ate that for two or three different mornings. We loved this place so much that I am considering having my wedding there, in the courtyard next year!! 😊😊💓

This 5 br, 5 bath work of art, historically famous Villa was perfect for our group of 6 women. The service of our two ladies Dehlia and Josefina was exceptional, best food we had in PV. Location is a few blocks from the Malecon and old town. Each suite is large and very comfortable. Pool area is where we spent most of our time. Can’t say enough good things about this beautiful venue. Upon arrival around 7 pm We were greeted by the manager Alma and our two ladies, serving margueritas, guacamole, salsa and chips, enough for our dinner after a long day of flying. Every morning we were served a different, authentic Mexican breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, included in the service. We hired the chef for one night of wonderful paella that fed us for three more meals. Got to meet the owner Sergio and learned the fascinating history of the place and his contribution to the beautiful artwork throughout every room. We all felt extremely fortunate to find this home away from home and hope to return soon. Thank you Sergio, Alma, Dehlia and Josefina for a perfect holiday.

Charming villa, fill with vegetation, art and comfort. Open spaces, beautiful river view, bohemian decoration with all the amenities to get your needs covered. You don't need to get out the villa but if you do, cannot ask for better location, two blocks from the Malecón, two from Market of Cuale's river. We just loved it!

The place is full of charm and bohemian atmosphere. Personal details all over and non traditional rooms. Close to the river and full of vegetation the estate is located just a couple of steps from the "malecon" where you can find all type of entertainment. This is a place to come and relax. No need to get out. The staff is very friendly and willing to accommodate special demands regarding food cravings. This is Mexico at its Best. We ll definitivt come back. We miss it so much.

Leslie and her entire team were excellent from the start! They answered questions in a timely manner, were very friendly and the staff were excellent in handling all requests(even last minute). The property is perfect.Quiet yet fun and close to town. Only complaint - I wish I had more time! Thank you again for a perfect stay!

When we booked Villa Leonarda for our three-generation family beach vacation, we hoped it would be a comfortable base of relaxation during our exploration of Puerto Vallarta. It was so much more! From the first step inside the unpretentious door we were overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the place with its lush plantings and tasteful décor. It is a beautiful combination of modern amenities, lovely art, and attention to history. The location is exactly what we required. An easy walk to the beach for the time you prefer the ocean to the villa's heated pool, and walking distance to anyplace in town including fabulous restaurants featuring any type of food you have a yen for. Sergio and Leslie were the perfect hosts, and staff members Delia and Josefina took great care of the villa (and of us) making us feel right at home. Deliia's cooking is absolutely delicious. It was a special contribution to the family birthdays which we celebrated with a party while at Villa Leonarda. Leslie's assistance was also invaluable in planning for the party. We would all definitely recommend the villa as the perfect location for any type of celebration. Everyone returned home relaxed and rejuvenated. We were able to enjoy each others' company in ways that would not have been possible at a resort or hotel. Villa Leonarda afforded each of us plenty of private space both personally and as a family group. This vacation left us with many happy, warm memories that we cherish always. Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit hier in der Villa Leonarda. Es war total entspannend, ruhig und extrem sauber. Jedes Zimmer war liebevoll eingerichtet und bot alles was wir uns wuenschten. Das Haus liegt in der Innenstadt, aber auch zum Strand ist es nicht weit. Die Vermieten sind immer hilfsbereit und lesen einem jeden Wunsch von den Augen. Perfekt fuer Familien oder kleineren Gruppen (5 grosse Zimmer). Eine wunderschoene, freie Kueche laed zum gemeinsamen Kochen ein. Wir koennen dieses Haus auf jeden Fall jedem empfehlen, wir haben es hier sehr genossen.

I have always liked Vallarta, but staying at a chain hotel, even if good and fun, does not compare to staying at a house, especially one where a family history is alive (the owner’s godparents were Richard Burton and Liz Taylor, who had neighboring homes!). Villa Leonarda offers a totally unique beach-destination experience in more than one way. I enjoyed very much the home-like atmosphere, enhanced by the help, especially Cecilia, the housekeeper and cook, who pampered us as if we were royalty, prepared lovely meals and kept the house in tip-top conditions. In Villa Leonarda there is nothing to remind you of impersonal, sterile hotels. There is true contact with nature with the Cuale River flowing a few yards from the terrace. Iguanas, egrets, parrots are a joy to watch. On the other hand, being right in the heart of the city, you can walk to the restaurants and the boardwalk as well as some of the beaches without having to drive. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable but what really grabs my imagination is the décor in each one… especially the bathrooms. Art and antiques complement the luxurious feel of this gorgeous home, I now call, mine (if just for a few days!). We will go back.

We stayed in Villa Leonarda with 3 couples and each had a gorgeous bedroom in a very authentic and beautiful Vallarta home. For those who have no taste for the loud all inclusive resorts, this is the perfect escape. Villa Leonarda's hosts Sergio and Leslie could not be more accommodating and the villa includes a wonderful support staff to meet all needs. Greeted with Margaritas and guacamole, then left to the privacy of our own explorations - this is a great way to enjoy a Vallarta on a romantic getaway or with friends or family. If you want the beach/oceanside pool experience without the mess or expense of staying at a resort, take a 75c bus ride or 10 cab to garza blanca and buy a day pass or go further up the coast for public access to sand... Anyhow, highly highly highly recommend. You will have a blast!

The villa is exquisite. The accommodations at Villa Leonarda are luxurious and romantic, the pool is serene, the courtyard is expansive and the hosts are just about the friendliest, most accommodating people I've ever encountered. You'll feel like royalty (or celebrity, if that's your preference) while you stay here. There is enough space that even with a large group, you'll never feel crowded. The rooftop views are exquisite. Trust me on this—you're going to want to see this place, and you'll never want to leave.

I had my wedding at Villa Leonarda in November 2010 and couldn't have asked for it to be any other place. If you are looking for a welcoming home away from home and to experience the exquisite culture of old town Puerto Vallarta, then Villa Leonarda is the perfect place for you. My husband and I spent a week at the Villa living comfortably with our 8 guests. Each had their own private quarters and were helped daily by the sweet and caring staff. It was a very special time for me and just writing this review makes me sentimental. I can honestly say that I miss the staff and would love to see them again. The Villa is very beautiful and offers an exquisite experience with all of its art, the rooftop mountain views and the sounds of the rushing water of the river. Additionally, the owners were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help us in anyway needed. They did an excellent job in making sure we were comfortable and happy. They are very knowledgeable about the local area and are experienced in hosting parties. They and their staff really added that extra something, the personal touch, that made our stay so special.

My wife and I travel as much as we can and when my health allows. We have been to Europe twice, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Antigua,Hawaii several times, Canada and all over the continental United States and our trip to Villa Leonarda in Puerta Vallarta was the best vacation we ever had. Upon arriving as soon as we walked in the Villa it was breathtaking. We unpacked and put on our suits and went swimming first thing. The pool was so beautiful and relaxing. The staff had drinks and a snack ready when we got there and after having that we went out to check out the town. It was wonderful. Some of the nicest restaurants we have ever eaten at. Our whole time there the staff was attentive without being intrusive. Loved them. The owners Sergio and Leslie were so kind we felt like family. They even took us out a night on the town. We have become good friends since the trip. We email each other and we are friends on Facebook. We have already decided that whenever we go on vacation that is where we are going to stay. The only reason we haven't been back a couple of times already is my health has been bad but we are planning on going again as soon as I can travel and in good enough health to enjoy all Puerta Vallarta and Villa Leonarda has to offer.We have recommended Villa Leonarda to all our friends and Facebook friends. I've had the pleasure of staying at Villa Leonarda multiple times and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta. The location is beautiful - overlooking the river on a quiet street that's close enough to walk anywhere you'd want to go. The owners are very friendly as is the staff, along with being very accommodating and keeping an open-air villa extremely clean. The villa itself is gorgeous and the bedrooms and spacious and very comfortable. We always choose this villa when we visit Mexico because it's like a home away from home and I must admit, I look forward to staying at Villa Leonarda almost as much as I look forward to our vacation!
