Loved having access to the trails just outside the door. Everything was as described.

Back patio is great with big shady tree. Great location to many trails.

This was such a nice place to stay for my husband and I. The location was perfect. We are not young or in the best shape but we were able to walk to town. And Idyllwild Regional Park is right outside the door. They had a big tv and comfy recliners and it was set up so you can actually watch tv. Lol. So many places have the furniture placement so strange but not this place! I know, who watches tv when your surrounded by nature right? Well for us having a usable tv space is a must and this was perfect. But just lounging on the back deck was the best part. It was just perfect!

Owners are very organized with easy to follow directions for all your needs. Very peaceful setting & close to town. We will be back!!

Long story short, this location is perfect. The cabin is clean, well kept, cute and has everything you need. Unfortunately we had back and forth issues with the "camera" outside of the cabin in "green" recording/active mode when we were entering, exiting and hanging out in front of the house. My partner & I, we know first hand what it is like to own a nest camera. They work great, keep an eye on the home and offer security when you are away. Give you real time notifications and keep you in the loop of what's going on. The issue is, no where on the profile did it state the host would have (2) cameras; (1) on the front and (1) on the side/back patio area right outside kitchen. Upon contacting VRBO customer service, they also did not see this information posted for this cabin therefore they noted it as a "break in the security policy". Second issue, when the cabin is unoccupied, meaning it is fully vacant, by all means, these cameras must come in handy and give the host a peace of mind. However, when guests are paying to rent out your space and enjoy a trip - the cameras should be turned off or at least modified so they are not always in "green" recording mode every time someone is outside, lounging, walking in and out, etc. Upon asking the host to turn off the camera for us, she stated she would, only for it to not be turned off, therefore my fiancé spun the camera around so it would not film us, which led to the host claiming we "disconnected" her device. I loved the accusation! The point is - there would not have been any issues if you would of stated upfront on the ad;within the profile NICE AND CLEARLY your camera's, their usage and that they will remain on. That would have deterred us and we would not have been in that debacle in the 1st place. I wanted so badly to recommend this location to my 400K+ followers, however, I will have to give this a thumbs down. Being in the hospitality field and having multiple degrees in business and patient care, rule #1 - if someone is paying to have your services/space, please do your part in ensuring they are satisfied with their visit/stay and also follow basic guidelines that a hosting website asks you to follow. While I am sure the host has now added this information to the profile; 2 weeks ago it was simply missing; lovely VRBO customer service can also attest to the fact that it was not visible/nor stated. Thanks Kathy for the stay but we will not be back nor recommend this place, whatta shame.

We enjoyed our first stay so much we had to visit a second time, for four nights this time around. The location is perfect. We wanted a small cabin so we could cozy up with our teens and spend some time as a family. Reading by the fireplace and playing games on the deck together was truly the stuff magic is made of.

Our family of 6 had a fantastic time. The cabin was everything we wanted. Quaint and beautiful. Our dogs enjoyed the fenced in back yard. The host was very responsive for any questions we had. Cell service wasn’t great so just make sure you have all the check in information ready before you head up the mountain just in case your cell service isn’t working great.

Happy Trails Cabin is a very cute place. The main room is a nice size and very cozy, with attractive woodwork all around, a high ceiling, western motif, and a great fireplace. The kitchen is nicely laid out, well equipped, and has plenty of counter space. The grounds are quite pretty, with numerous conifers, and a nice deck with gas grill in back. We’d definitely stay here again.

This was our first time in Idyllwild and Kathy was the perfect host. The cabin was clean and in the most perfect location. We will definitely be back! Thank you for everything Kathy!!!

The cabin was great, everything we needed, a great warm home base for our stay. Easy walk to town, and there are plenty of hikes right out the front door. Would stay again for sure!

This cabin is exactly what we were looking for in Idyllwild. It’s RIGHT next to a state park, with hiking trails super accessible. But then, in the other direction, a mile away, is the main town to shop, eat, etc. Best of both worlds. Loved the fenced in backyard for our dog. The kitchen was well-equipped for making nice meals, the fireplace was cozy, and the bed was comfortable. Would stay again!

This cabin is very well equipped and maintained. The location is perfect, close to trails and only a half of a mile to town. We will plan on staying here again.

Great place next to the park

Plenty of room in the kitchen to prep and cook. Main bedroom was nice and comfortable, other bedroom had two sets of bunk beds, maybe not the best for older teens, but okay. Owner was helpful from the moment we checked in, good to know we had answers to any questions we might have. Lots of sticky notes from owner around cabin as reminders. We have been renting cabins for years and respect others belongings and property, it is easy to see that the place is well taken care of. We would stay again.

My husband and I traveled to Idyllwild for my birthday and the Happy Trails Cabin was PERFECT for us! We’re big hikers and it was so convenient to have the trails we wanted to do literally right outside the front door. In the evenings, we would walk into town, which only took about 15 minutes. We brought our small dog too, and the area is VERY pet-friendly. We plan to come back soon with more of my family!

The cabin is rustic, but fully equipped with everything you need. Great for a small family, and they accept pets. The kitchen is up to date. The front and back deck are great for relaxing. The location can't be beat; hiking trails just outside your door and the park next door. The rental and check-in process was easy. The contact with the Prop Mgr was easy and very helpful when we left something behind. .

Having the park next door was amazing for dogs as well as secure backyard and porches. Quiet area at end of street was great and proximity to town. Internet that extended to back porch was appreciated as we were (unfortunately) working all week. Multi plug in kitchen bar was fully utilized. Back Deck could use a good power wash. Instructions on TV remotes' use were not correct but Apple TV embedded was very useful. Knives were woefully dull and borderline useless. Would have appreciated more cutlery & coffee mugs. No plastic ware containers for leftovers. Ran dishwasher per instructions (short wash, heat dry) and it only washed for 10 minutes, didn't dry at all. Questionable condiments in fridge, expired spices ('14 & '15 for salt & pepper) in cabinet. We left new olive oil as we did not trust using the vegetable oil. A/C did not (& I suspect could not) cool entire house. We left early because it was not possible to get a good night's sleep because of the hot primary bedroom & uncomfortable mattress. House was clean when we arrived. Needs ant treatment.

The Happy Trails Cabin was in a good location and comfortable to stay in. The backyard was great to have for my dog to explore off leash. The AC was also nice to have to escape the warm weather of that week. The neighborhood was quiet and not too far from town. The owner was very helpful and contacted me to answer questions that I had.

First of all Idyllwild is such a beautiful place to stay, the cabin was so nice and clean. Getting there was easy plus you are 15min walking distance from the main town with all the restaurants. The cabin was perfect with my girls and I, the backyard was fenced in so my little one and I were able to kick the ball back and forth. The cabin came with all the basic necessities, you can totally bring your own groceries and cook there. It was a very lovely needed getaway from Los Angeles. Thank you Kathy!

Took my spouse and pup up for about a week. Enjoyed the neighborhood—very quiet. Nice location to town. Would visit again.

Kathy is super responsive to any questions, home is quite comfortable, all the amenities of home. Great heat & A/C. Love the deck, the smell of pine, the sunshine.

This property is 100% accurately described. The check-in process was very smooth, the location can't be beat, and the place was immaculate. I would highly recommend this cabin for a small group with pets as you are walking distance to town in addition to be walking distance from a couple of great trails for hiking. The neighborhood is really quiet and we felt completely safe. We are 2 adults and we have 2 dogs; we were completely comfortable. We looked inside even the second bedroom, but we didn't need it, however, there were 2 bunk beds. We ate out for lunch, but cooked every dinner in the cabin and hung out on the back deck with wine. Having the fully fenced backyard made our late night "walk" super convenient. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

We really enjoyed a few days at Happy Trails cabin. The house is equipped with everything we needed, even few items we didn't think about like a humidifier and blow dryer. Our kids loved the bunk beds and we all loved the lovely trail right outside the cabin. We're newcomers to Idyllwild, but this experience showed us what a great area it is for a quick getaway. We'll be returning for sure!

We had a great weekend stay at the Happy Trails Cabin. It was sparkling clean when we arrived, and check-in instructions were clear and easy. It is obvious that the cabin is well taken care of and regularly updated. (The A/C unit was brand new and everything else was well-maintained.) It had everything we needed and the cabin is so close to great hiking and nature trails. We saw so many wildflowers. Our young kids and dog loved playing in the fully-fenced yard. We will look forward to staying here again and would recommend it to anyone!

My hub and I had a wonderful 2-day stay with our two pooches here from 5/19-21. A very well-maintained property with all the amenities you need and just a few steps away from Idyllwild County Park, where we enjoyed fresh, cool mountain air and long walks with the fur babies. Communication with the owner, Kathy, was seamless. Will definitely stay here again!

Our stay was smooth and painless. Everything was as described. Would definitely stay there again.
