This property could not be better located as it is near all the best parts of Colonial Beach. It is even walking distance to the beach itself; though, we did use our gold cart because we bring so much stuff! We walked to get ice cream, and dinner and the kids LOVED backing up to the playground. The home itself is adorable and exactly as described. It had every thing our family (and dog) needed for a fun long weekend. We definitely recommend and would return for another visit.

We stayed for a long weekend, meeting my son his friend and his puppy. There were six of us total. There was plenty of room to be comfortable. The house is in a great location just a short walk to the beach and around the corner from ice cream! House was old but clean with plenty of honey touches. Would stay here again.

It was a very short but nice stay. We all humans and pet enjoyed the charming house and the beach a block away. No crowds from Mon-Wed, very quiet and relaxing. Communication with owner was excellent.

We had a wonderful visit! The house is clean, well equipped, and very comfortable! We could walk to everything. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, and the grill was handy, too. A short walk to the beach, and an even shorter walk to the ice cream shops!

We had a wonderful time at Beachcomber II! The owners were wonderful and communication was excellent. The home, along with amenities of beach gear and bikes, made this home a perfect vacation for our family.

Overall my family had a wonderful trip, and the house worked out well for us. The location was great, and they allowed a toddler and a dog to stay on the property. The backyard and playground next door worked out very well. The showers worked well and the house was cozy. However, there were a few downsides, the beds were very uncomfortable and the house is falling apart a bit. The house seemed to have a bit of a slope, the top hinge on one door was separated from the frame, one toilet seemed loose, you could see where paint was buckling on the walls, the handle on the kitchen sink kept coming off, etc. We did contact the owners about the door and they were VERY responsive and got it fixed, they also did a nice job stocking the house with things we'd need (dog water bowl i'd forgotten, baking sheet/dishes/kitchen essentials, etc.). So again, some good things and some bad things with this place.

This home is in a perfect location. Close to lots in Colonial Beach area! We were extremely happy with the timely responses to any questions and would love to use the home again in the future!!

It was a nice little get-away close to home. The weather ended up being great for what we expected and the house was just a walk to the beach. the beach is very nice and was quiet - good time to relax while the kids played in water and sand.

We have been staying with Cathy and George for many years and love the location and charm of this house. This year, when we arrived we noticed a new livingroom set, upgrades to the kitchen, and new windows. Thanks for keeping our get-away up-to-date.

The house is in a great location, can walk to the beach, restaurants, etc. Also, very comfortable and the perfect size and layout for our family of seven! The playground right behind the house was great for the kids! Cathy was great and we hope to stay here again!

We have stayed at the Beachcomber II for several years. We love the location and relaxing in the front yard. We actually don't spend much time in the house, except this year...it rained alot. We loved the new furniture in the livingroom and the new windows throughout, nice touches! We love Colonial Beach and have been staying with Cathy at the Beachcomber Cottages since they opened Beachcomber I, 8 years ago. We actually took a peak at the new one, Beachcomber IV on the River, WOW. That said, Beachcomber II is still our favorite due to the great in-town location and the convenience to the beach.

My family rented the home for a 4 day quick trip to settle my uncle in to the local nursing home. I decided on a whim to try and get some R&R since we all were using unplanned vacation time. It was hard to find much out order with the home. My mother of course can always find something to crumbling about: cob webs in the corners of the rooms and the weeds that needed cutting back along the driveway and back gate. So, that's the reason i couldn't give the house 5 stars. Mom's say it just the small details that make all of the difference. I hadn't the time to notice. We all agreed we'd rent it again if even the chance.

When we arrived after spending 8 hours in the car, we had still not received the door code. I called and texted, and received a text back that the owner was busy, and couldn’t talk at that time...while we sat there in the car. I sent a message thru homeaway, and a text stating that if we didn’t hear from the owner in the next 30 minutes that we would be making other arrangements. The owner called to give us the code which didn’t open the door, then she drove over to try another code which finally got us inside...and stated that her husband hadn’t changed the code as she’d asked him to. If you’re looking for a place to stay where you can prepare meals...this is not the place for you. The dishes and glassware were not clean, and the “non-stick” cookware was in unbelievably bad condition. Much of the non-stick surface on the pots had been almost entirely scraped off while the remainder flaked off into our food. When I pulled the sheets and pillow cases off the bed prior to our departure, I was nauseated by the sight of the pillows which were covered with yellow stains. The price must be based on a sleeping capacity of 7. For a couple, we just paid an excessive price for a bad experience.

Plenty of room for all of us and fully equipped. Beds were very comfy and the whole cottage was clean with plenty of linen, towels etc. Everything worked well. Had the pleasure of meeting Cathy who was most charming and gave us great insight into living at Colonial Beach as we have been considering this area for retirement. Two small quibbles, no where to put things in the en suite bathroom, needs a shelf or unit and the garden furniture all needed cleaning. Overall a wonderful stay and would certainly stay at one of Cathy's Beachcomber Cottages again. Jan Atwood

The house was quiet and within walking distance to everything. A block or two from the beach. Cathy stopped by to introduce herself and was very hospitable. We rented a golf cart and zipped around the whole area. Everyone was very friendly. We would stay here again.

House was clean, well appointed, and convenient. We were on just a two night stay, so it had everything we needed. If we were staying for a week, it would be nice if there were a TV in the bedroom and an outdoor seating area raised off the ground. The rain preceding our visit and intermittent during our stay, rendered the yard unuseable. Minor inconvenience , just a suggestion for a future upgrade.
