Enjoyed our stay. When we weren’t in the national park, we were playing in the river in front of the cabin.

We frequently visit Townsend and really enjoyed this cabin!

Nice place to stay, very close to gsmnp, owner was great to communicate with

We had a wonderful time. We felt the property exceeded our expectations. And the 9 o’clock check out time was surprisingly early. Most places we visit have different times i.e. check in at three and check out at 10.

Thanks. Gregg

We loved staying at the Fishin' Hole Cabin! The cabin was spacious, on a river where we could do some fishing (which was not only beautiful but also convenient), clean, and equipped with all we needed for a relaxing and fun stay. Richard is a great host, was responsive, and knowledgeable about the area. As far as location, right outside the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain Natl. Park. There are also walking trails around town and some great restaurants close by. Can't be beat for a vacation home!

The cabin was nice. Fishing Hole Cabin is a misnomer. There is no hole in front of the cabin just flat rock ankle deep. The purpose for renting was for me mt son and grandsons was to catch trout. The stocking was suppose to take place the first day of rental. It was never stocked during our stay. It rained for 3 days but that was mother nature. We packed up and left a day early. We paid extra and were disappointed. Can't recommend if you hope to find fish.

It has been almost 30 years since I last visited Townsend. Staying at the "Fishin Hole" Cabin was like returning home. The cabin, the setting and all the amenities were spot on. Thank you for the wonderful stay and we will be returning hopefully each year! Absolutely the best vacation spot in The Smokies!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The Rustic Cabin was very nice. It actually snowed while we were there and it was so Awesome for my Grandkids. Loved the fact it was so close to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the National Park yet far enough away from the crowds and chaos. We would definetly stay again.

Easy experience with the rental process.

Owner was quick to respond to booking and all questions. Outdoor area was fantastic with an amazing fire pit and porch swing with a view of the river. Fireplace took the chill out of the room in the morning and was just amazing week for our family.

The cabin was very clean. We had our 5 children with us and they absolutely loved tubing in the river all week. The owners answered all of our questions promptly. The location is great, still within 30 minutes of Pigeon Forge. This was a wonderful vacation full of great memories for us. I would definitely recommend this cabin.

Nice location. Away from craziness of Pigeon Forge but close if you’re into that.

The "Fishin Hole" cabin is a three bedroom, two bath cabin located on the Little River about one mile from the stoplight in Townsend. It is an ideal rental for an extended family with a spacious living/dining area. All the bedrooms had ample storage space. The kitchen was functional, but a major deficiency was the lack of a dishwasher. The owner stated that he plans to build an island in the kitchen with a dishwasher in the future. Significant items of flatware were missing, there were only two dinner knives. We reported this to the owner.
The environment around the cabin was quite nice. The cabin backs up on a pasture or open field and a low ridge. At night, it was dark enough to observe and photograph the stars. The little river runs in front of the cabin and the owner has built a concrete sidewalk or dock along the river. From the walkway, we were able to observe small fish and crayfish at night with a flashlight. Access involves crossing a little used one lane road. The road itself is a pleasant place to walk.
We contacted the owner several time and he was very responsive. At first, he was hard to contact since he was on vacation in the Caribbean. The hot tub was not functioning properly upon our first use and we called the owner and he fixed it the next day. VRBO was horrible at providing information on the location and environment and we didn't receive anything from them until two days before out trip. I suggest you rent direct from the owner. The cabin does need some maintenance as many screens were lying on the ground outside the cabin. It got very hot on the second floor and we really would have appreciated screens.

truly relaxing
We had a few little bumps in the road day 1 of vacation how ever the owner of the property took care of it right away. We really enjoyed the cabin and would rent again in the future .

Host was wonderful and made himself available if needed. Loved sitting on the deck listening to the flow of the river and really loved sitting down by the river on the landing. It was very entertaining watching the tubers float by. Overall, a great stay and just what we were looking for.

Deceptive Advertising
“Your only neighbors are our horses” is not correct. The street is lined with houses and your houses/ cabins and your neighbors are within 50 feet . Didn’t see any horses BTW..

Pictures aren’t always worth a thousand words
Our expectation prior to arrival was that this property was secluded however as we pulled into the narrow road to get to the property we quickly realized that was not the case. Homes in all states of upkeep to falling down are surrounding this property. The access road runs directly in front of the property, between the house and the water (not evident from the picture due to the angle in which it is taken). The traffic was minimal but I wasn’t as comfortable sending my kids back/forth to fish as I had hoped. Also, the property and rooms are not as large as the pictures make them appear. There is no dishwasher and I saw a few ants in the kitchen. We just bought paper plates and made sure we didn’t leave any crumbs around. The bathrooms, bedrooms, and other areas I felt were clean. We really enjoyed using the hot tub and the owner was quick to respond to any questions I had.
Distance to Gatlinburg and cades cove was perfect. We enjoyed hiking Abram’s falls before the construction began.

Had a wonderful spring break. Unfortunately, the rain made the river too high so no fish were caught.

Wonderful long weekend getaway
We were looking for a quiet long weekend getaway while our daughter was on Spring break and stumbled upon this gem. My husband was looking to do some trout fishing and the cabin was right on the river. The owner, Richard, even gave my husband pointers on fishing locations that panned out. My husband would recommend this place for trout fishing. The hot tub is where my daughter and I spent a lot of time. It was so relaxing! The cabin was fully equipped and we lacked for nothing. The location to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is absolutely perfect. The local caverns were amazing! Thank you so much for your hospitality! We look forward to coming back! God bless you and your family!

Lots of fun!
We had a very nice time. The house was cozy and clean, not rural like the pictures made it look, but still lots of fun. Kiddos loved the hot tub!

Peaceful and Restful Stay
Our family wanted a winter get away with warmer temps and chose this location because it was somewhat remote but not to inaccessible to food shopping, gas, etc. Due to COVID we did not want to be too close to others.
The cabin is updated and true to the pictures. We cooked all meals in the cabin and found the kitchen was well stocked. Showers had great water pressure. We loved the fire pit and enjoyed being able to sit outside during the nights. We did not use the hot tub.
Richard the property owner was easy to work with. Did not have any issues at the cabin during our stay that required fixing. Overall it was a beautiful cabin and very comfortable stay.

The cabin was very nice! Richard made sure we had his number and also checked in on us a couple times to make sure we didn’t need anything! Just asked my kids what I should put for our review and the said “IT WAS AWESOME!” Would definitely recommend! Plenty to do within driving distance!!
