We had such a relaxing, enjoyable stay on Highland Lake. The house is SO nice and the pictures don’t do it justice. Peter and Jennifer have provided everything you would need for an extended stay. We loved it so much we didn’t need to do anything but enjoy the deck! Take a ride to Mackworth Island State Park in Falmouth for a 1.5 mile perimeter walk in the woods. Peaceful, picturesque and mostly in the shade. Thank you, Peter and Jennifer!

We spent a very pleasant couple of days at this property. The host was gracious and helpful, the house was well appointed and the view was spectacular.

Great place to getaway for a long weekend. Right on a beautiful lake but close enough to the necessities. Property is extremely well kept. Hosts were helpful and responsive from the time of reservation until we drove away.

The photos of this property on the listing don’t do it justice. It’s really lovely. You are literally 10 steps from the lake. The kitchen is amazingly well-stocked, there’s a nice deck on the water, the views from any room on the back side of the house are of the lake (which was very quiet), and the owner was kind enough to share a bottle of wine. This property is less than 30 minutes from downtown Portland. While staying there we went to the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath (highly recommend) where we took a boat ride and saw 10 lighthouses and some lovely territory, and we did a catamaran sail out of Saco which was fun and relaxing. We also visited Kennebunkport and some beaches in that area. This place is great if you need a break from city life or want a terrific home base to explore the area.

What a gem! This home (even nicer than the photos!) is beautifully decorated and well appointed and close to Portland. The owners, Pete and Jen, took great care stocking the home with everything you'd need, including excellent drinking water (new water filtration system). If I couldn't find something (lobster crackers for instance), Pete happily supplied it (lobster crackers and bibs, for instance). It was like having my best neighbor transported to Maine. Large windows/glass doors in every room ensure great lake views throughout. Comfortable beds/sofa/plenty of linens and soap/hand sanitizer/ and even garage space for the car! What more could I ask for? Sitting on the patio every morning and watching the sunset from the same spot every evening was a highlight. This ain't your grandparents "camp", and that's a very good thing.

My husband and I enjoyed our peaceful quiet getaway. Close enough to Portland but far enough away for no loud city sounds. A comfortable and beautiful place to spend a anniversary celebration!

It was a beautiful spot with a spectacular view. It was off the beaten trail so conducive for walking and biking. My husband and I got up every morning and sat not he deck over-looking the water and had our coffee. At night we listened to the loons. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked. The owner and his wife were lovely, incredible helpful and full of good information. We will be returning..

What a find!! This was the perfect spot to stay while touring the local colleges. It was immaculate and a comfortable size for our family of four. We really enjoyed the large deck overlooking the lake and saw some spectacular sunsets. Pete was a fantastic host and even went out of his way to mail us some laundry we left behind.

Great location with super friendly lake front neighborhood yet very private.

We needed a long weekend getaway, to celebrate our 25th, spend time with aging parents, get some r&r and decompress from the daily grind. The weekend was perfect all around. Our hosts Peter and Jennifer were super-friendly and helpful, and were there when we needed. They even went above and beyond to make our experience absolutely fabulous. The accommodations were well-appointed. The location was spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset. Enjoyed some wildlife. Soaked in peace and tranquility, and re-charged the batteries. Definitely on my list of future repeat stays. Highly recommended!

The lake was wonderful to be next to peaceful and gorgeous . We enjoyed being near Portland and all the ocean activity as well . the apt is immaculate and much thought has been given to the comfort of the guests . This home is beautiful and Peter and Jennifer are amazing hosts. The pictures of the place do not do it justice, it is so picturesque, clean, and bright, with an amazing view of the lake. The location was perfect for us- very close to Portland but still far away enough to get a real country feel.

Pete and Jennifer were very accommodating and welcoming. The lake and house location are beautiful and we would love to go back.

We had a wonderful, although short, visit. We were greeted warmly and shown around thoroughly. The information and instructions for the cottage were very helpful. The. lake is just gorgeous and the property is very nicely done. Peter was a great host, helping us with every need. I can't say enough nice things about this property and highly encourage anyone to consider it.

What an awesome retreat!! You can just sit on the lakefront deck and watch the fish jump, play a game or read a book. Or if you want to explore, you can head off to Portland or Naples. We did both on our stay. The owners Peter and Jennifer were friendly and social. Loved our stay.

The home had everything you could ask for in a wonderful vacation. It was so relaxing to come back from a busy day touring and sit by the lake and just relax. The owners were very obliging and did everything to guarantee that we had a good week. We would love to return.

Top notch property. You won’t believe your lake view. Pete is a great host and his house has everything you will want and need. Our only issue was the WiFi was a little bit dodgy.

Pete is a great host with a beautiful house. The lake setting is wonderful and is an easy drive to Portland. House is very clean and the beds are comfortable. The WiFi was reliable and quick. There are TVs but we never put them on. The deck has seating and small tables - good area to relax in. Highly recommend staying here and taking in the view.

This property exceeded our expectations. The online photos really do not seem to capture the essence of the accommodations.

Property was better than advertised. All was well. Spent 4th of July on the lake with a 24' Ski Boat. Dock was great, hosts were great. Plenty of room for an extra air mattress. Quiet area. Thanks!

The 2 bedroom lower part of the house that we stayed in was great. Very private, super clean, everything you could need, including WiFi, TV. Plus you can walk out into the deck and down to the water easily. Really, the photos do not do this place justice, it’s clean, well-lit, spacious, has a nice large dining area great for hosting. We would rent again in a heartbeat.
