Owner Pete and his property mgr are friendly and easy to work with. The home is fully equipped for anything you might need, and there is a lot of space! It is conveniently located about 20 min from Portland or the Sebago region, and 40 mon from Freeport. We loved our week, and hope to be back again! Kathy Jesson

We rented both the upstairs and downstairs of this property; we were visiting Maine for our son's graduation from UNECOM. It was the perfect place. My husband and I stayed in the master downstairs and the "kids" (all adults) stayed in the two bedrooms upstairs. The home is very sound proof - my husband was up first and watched TV downstairs in the living room right next to the master bedroom - I could not even hear the TV! We could stay downstairs while the kids slept so we did not disturb them. In the evening, the upstairs had plenty of seating for the six of us. I loved all the windows and being on the water. It was very peaceful. We did not do much cooking, but the upstairs kitchen was well stocked. I did miss my Keurig and had to remember how to make coffee in a regular coffee pot (first-world problems!). The owner and property manager were very easy to work with. I am not sure we will be back to the Portland area, but if we are, I would not hesitate to stay at this property.

Spacious and comfortable - this VRBO was a great fit for our family traveling to be at our daughter's college graduation weekend. We loved being on the lake and having everything we needed. Thanks so much!

Beautiful, comfortable home with deck looking out over lake. We were there in early October, so it was very quiet and peaceful. The home was clean and had all the comforts of home. If you rent the entire property, you get two full kitchens (one up, one down) two and 1/2 baths and four bedrooms, with wood burning fireplaces and washer/dryer on both floors. This was a perfect place for us and one other couple, and it would also be nice for two families that are vacationing together -- you can each have your own space, but still be on the same property. All in all, an excellent experience and we'd stay there again!

This property has amazing views in a quiet, serene setting. The home is very clean with a seamless check in process. The property booklet is very thorough with all instructions. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to feed a large group, as well as any gadget necessary for the preparation. The property is comfortable and welcoming,, and I would highly recommend it!

My family and I stay in vrbo's at least three times a year on vacation (some years even more) so I have to say we know a thing or two when it comes to having a nice stay. This property was by far the best place we have stayed in! It had everything you could ever need. It had a well-stocked kitchen and good wifi. The pics don't do it justice. The views were perfect and so was the location. We both work in the Boston area and this was the vacation that allowed for relaxation and rejuvenation- just what we both needed. You are close to casco bay and the city of Portland so you can go and have the best adventure whether its kayaking, SUP, or exploring city life. The host was so gracious and accommodating. I cant wait to schedule our next trip to the lake!

This was our second time staying at the Simonson Lakeside property. The house is equipped with everything you need to cook a meal and to stay comfortably. The house is very clean and we love the fireplace. There is a trampoline park and bowling/arcade close by that the kids enjoy. The view of the lake can't be beat. We will be back again!

This is the second time we have rented from the property and there is two main reason why: 1. Great house, plenty of room for a large family or friends. In addition, it has many amenities, 2 big kitchens and right in front of the lake. 2. The communication from the owner and property management is prompt, respectful, and willing to be flexible. They are the reason we continue to book with them.

This home is even better than the pictures convey. We had a family retreat for Thanksgiving and had everything we needed and then some. Full dish sets, plenty of silverware, even place mats and cloth napkins and napkin rings!! Plenty of towels in the bathrooms, extra throw blankets and pillows for the bedrooms. We even used the chess set! We loved building a fire and relaxing in the great room. Having a garage was a bonus so we didn’t have to scrape the car off every morning. We loved the lake and woods setting, so Maine! We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

This was one of the best rentals I have had. All top end, nothing missing and AWESOME location between Portland and Freeport. I was there for business and stayed for a short vacation. Even the weather was great. I had a small need upon check out which Neil came and took care of. It had nothing to do with the rental and he could have easily said no and I would have understood.

This was my second time staying here, and looking forward to the next! This property is so well-maintained, SO clean, and just a great, relaxing place to stay.

We returned to Simonson Lakeside again this year, from the west coast, because last year's stay was so wonderful! Once again, we were SO blessed to spend our week in Maine at this property! We are VERY thankful to have found such a beautiful, clean home in such a beautiful setting!!! Hope to keep this tradition going!!! ;)

Our family gathered here for four nights during our niece’s college graduation events. It looks good in the photos but is exceptional in person! Comfy, clean, and right on Highland Lake. Simonson Lakeside was the perfect house for our group getaway! Upon entering the home, it was immediately apparent how clean the property was. It was really clean, not just made to appear clean. The home was thoughtfully designed, we especially loved the large kitchen and great room. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a meal. They even had a crockpot! The bedrooms were spacious and had room for a pack-n-play or air mattress. The fireplace was used daily. The lake was beautiful, the kids had fun skating and playing on it! We plan to return and to spend more time so we can explore the area a bit more A summer getaway would be great as well. Thank you for sharing your home!

The house was much more breathtaking than we expected. It is located in very nice area with other houses near by, but you hardly notice them. We enjoyed cooking in the amazing kitchen on the first floor but fell in love with the views out of every window on the first floor. The house feels like it is in the middle of no where but it is extremely easy to get into the city of Portland and enjoy the cities amazing breweries and restaurants. It's an all around great place and would recommend it to anyone. If we ever come back to the Portland area on a family vacation, Simonson Lakeside will be the first place we will look to book.

Although the pictures look great, they don’t do this home justice. It seems that the owners thought of every single detail in the design and preparation of the experience here. After the first couple of hours, we all said we want to make this an annual trip. Outstanding in every way. Can’t wait to come back.

We traveled from Kansas City, 2 adult couples - I can’t say enough about how nice this lake home is, the leaves in October in Maine make it a perfect destination! Portland is nearby and the light houses are so cool; the coastline absolutely stunning. Would definitely stay here again!!

This home is well equipped and was very clean. We really enjoyed the outside patio right on the lake, watching the boats go by, a fisherman etc. The upstairs kitchen is a cooks dream. Lots of counter space, excellent appliances etc. If we stayed longer I would have inquired about kayaks for rent and boat too. We were there second week of October and had 2 days at 80 degrees. While it seems out in the boondocks, it isn't far to go sightseeing. Plus only 21 minutes to the Portland Airport, very convenient. Looking to go back again this time for a month.

Pete was amazing! Upon arrival he was able to show us around the house and give us background information on the home. The house had more than what we needed; it was extremely accommodating. It was organized beyond belief. The upstairs kitchen is gorgeous and innovative. My family had the best time and we look forward to staying here again next year. Not to mention the fishing was great for anyone that is interested. Pete has the best hospitality and makes himself available at all time. I can’t thank him enough! We Booked here to be a close ride to Portland for a Girls weekend- and just wow. We intended on going out more, but wanted to hang out on the porch and take in the views, the house was just gorgeous. We didn’t plan on cooking, as many houses have limited supplies and aren’t adequate, but we regret not planning to cook as the kitchen was huge and had anything we would have needed. Owners took so much pride in their home and were able to give some in our group a tour which helped explain some of the decor and gave us all a better respect and appreciation for the home. Would recommend to those who are looking for a quiet retreat as you are in the middle of the woods but also looking for city day trips as Portland was not far away. FYI There is no AC, but if you leave the windows open the house cools down
