Truly excellent stay. Julie and Gary go above and beyond to make their guests welcome even providing cakes and fruit upon arrival. The (mostly) private backyard area is a dream& gives the illusion of seclusion though the cottage is within walking distance to the centre of town. The evaporative aircon is amazingly effective & everything we needed had been thoughtfully provided. The beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in & made me sad to return to my own - though I usually miss mine when im away. Having two bathrooms was a bonus, as well as a second loungeroom with Netflix, thankfully separating the night owls from the early birds. This is our second stay at Rowan cottage and we noticed minor repairs and improvements making for a truly excellent stay. Rowan cottage is a total delight. You wont be disappointed.

From the moment we walked in the front door, we felt at home. Our group included my husband and myself (from Brisbane), and his cousin and her husband from England. Julie's communication with us was excellent - and we felt so welcome with all the little thoughtful extras, like the bowl of strawberries and grapes in the frig. No sooner had we arrived than we were enjoying a cuppa and Julie's poppyseed cake in the delightful back garden. The car stayed in the carport while we walked everywhere - and we were able to catch up on our washing of clothes. We wished we had longer than two days.

We came back to Rowan Cottage as it has a great central location in a quiet street, you can easily walk to town avoiding the hills, and it has a relaxed feel to it. Thanks Dave & Shirl - Melbourne

This is the third time we have stayed at Rowan Cottage, which shows how much she like it. Julie and Gary, the owners, are great to deal with and we really appreciate the little extras they spoiled us with - delicious fresh-baked muffins, a beautiful bowl of strawberries ... The cottage is quaint and comfortable, everything we could want. We look forward to returning next year !

This is an older property with all the charm that you would expect. As someone that lives in a modern property, not only was the vacation away from my home a step away from city life, but staying at this location was a step back into yesteryear. Clean, and comfortable, all the modern conveniences you would ever need are provided for in the home. But so is a comfortable side deck, a beautifully landscaped backyard and cool things like lights that turn on with hanging switches! The hosts are responsive and accommodating. Even helping us locate and relocate a missing pair of shoes. Give this property consideration for your trip to Bendigo.

House was great, had everything we needed to enjoy our 2 nights stay. Close to the Cathedral (well worth a visit) and close to the Rifle Brigade pub where we ate dinner one evening. Very good communication with the owner.

A fabulously decked out property with everything you need and more. Centrally located and quiet. Walking distance to the Arts Precinct and great restaurants and cafes. Owners a delight to deal with and present their home beautifully.

Do yourselves a big favour and recharge at this amazing, quirky and charming cottage! My friend and I spent two nights here and can honestly say everything was perfect! Julie was a dream hostess-incredibly thoughtful in her preparations and communication ensuring everything was set up so we didn’t need to think of anything. So many unexpected and blissfully enjoyed treats and extras that we found ourselves saying “Julie’s done it again!” and feeling like we had met another soulmate in the sisterhood. The garden is a little piece of paradise too. This will be our annual getaway location-except next time we need a minimum of 3 nights!

The property was everything we expected from Stayz. Cosy house close to all the amenities, a short walk to the City of Bendigo itself. At night time, it was just a matter of turning on the heating and settling down in the den at the back of the house to watch TV, in comfy chairs complete with footstools. Because the weather was inclement, we didn’t venture out into the garden, which would be good for entertainment, or just sitting there and enjoying a good book. We had no problems at all with the property and wish to convey our sincere thanks to Gary and Julie for sharing their beautiful home with us. You could not ask for better hosts.Their hospitality and generosity was outstanding and made our stay a joy. The sense of history with the high level of comfort means that we can't recommend this place highly enough.

My daughter had an athletics competition in Bendigo and it was really great to stay in a property that felt like home. The house was lovely and gardens were immaculate. The little touches inside were thoughtful and appreciated. We enjoyed sitting outside under the covered entertaining area. I would highly recommend this property to others.

So lovely to return to this warm, cosy little cottage, just a stone's throw away from the arts precinct and centre of Bendigo. Beautiful gardens, comfortable, all the conveniences you could want, and the hosts Julie and Gary are really welcoming and accessible. Highly recommend !

A lovely stay in a lovely little cottage with all the amenities you could need. A generous continental breakfast was provided and the beautiful home was very close to the town centre and art district.

Quirky cottage in walking distance to major Bendigo attractions and good restaurants.

The house was exactly as portrayed on the website but larger inside than it looks. The ducted air conditioning worked well and was greatly appreciated. The hosts were very helpful, responsive and little touches all over the property indicated their care and attention to it. For an older house it is well maintained. This was the best of the accommodations we booked over a two week period. We were only sorry that we could not sit out on the lovely side verandah as the cold prevented it We are sydneyites and not used to it obviously. We can thoroughly recommend staying here but you may not want to leave at the end.

This cottage exceeded our expectations. Julie makes it very welcoming with delicious treats, and extra special touches. The gardens are so beautiful and it is walkable to restaurants and Bendigo attractions. Although we only ate breakfast in the kitchen it is well stocked and conducive for cooking. The bed was very comfortable with luxurious bedding. If our travels take us back to Bendigo we would definitely stay here again.

A great property with so many spaces to relax in. A warm welcome with scented candles and ambient music. Just charming. Such a well equipped house with generous hosts offering everything you could possibly need.

Great property, great communication, absolutely everything and more provided. Awesome location, one of best Stayz properties we have experienced and have stayed at more than 30ish so far.

Very good and easy to deal with

The house was gorgeous old world, but with every mod con you could need. Everything was thoughtfully provided for, and we felt the love from the first step. Mood lighting, music, cake….and there was no shortage of beautiful gestures including fresh flowers. The hosts were easily contactable, and couldn’t get a better location. Can’t wait to go back again!!

Rowan Cottage was a delightful heritage cottage in which we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. Our kind hosts provided everything we needed and we look forward to staying in Rowan Cottage when we visit Bendigo again.

The cottage was perfect for a friend and I to stay for the weekend. Very cosy. The hosts were great and even treated us to a delicious carrot cake on arrival. Great location too! Would definitely stay again.

The cottage was everything it promised to be - very comfortable, well equipped, and in a great location being able to walk to the centre of town. The kitchen was well stocked with all the bits and pieces one would want to self cater, and the bed was extremely comfortable. This was just a short stay for the Opera, but we will be back for a longer stay so as to really re-familiarise ourselves with Bendigo,

Great house and location. The little things make the difference, from the supplies provided and the welcome carrot cake, to the information provided about how to use things and whats around the area. The garden was beautifully maintained and was like icing on the cake! Thankyou Gary and Julie.

We rented this cottage with family in the Winter It was perfect …Cosy, beautifully presented, relaxing and we were spoilt with a basket of breakfast goodies and Chocolates When we arrived the under floor heating was on …. calming music and candles..

My friend and I were very happy with this property. Better than the photos and so warm, spacious and welcoming. Walking distance to all the main attractions. Great continental breakfast and extras which we weren't expecting.

The cottage has 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has an ensuite. There is a second bathroom that can be used by the occupants of the second bedroom. The kitchen has lots of extras in the pantry. A nice continental breakfast is provided. Especially welcome was the cake waiting for us. There are lots of spaces to sit and relax. The garden is a lovely space to sit in and there is a BBQ there. We will definitely stay in the cottage again.

Just spent 4 nights in this delightful little cottage. It's in a great location, easily walkable to the central Bendigo precinct and ideal for us and our friends as we were attending a music festival for which most off the concerts were at the Capital Theatre, an easy stroll. The cottage is small and quaint but had everything we needed and the owners, Julie and Gary, were very welcoming and pleasant to deal with.

Property was warm and inviting. Generous goodies. Great location. Easy to access. Friendly owners.
