I couldn't find the ice at the self-service bar...I couldn't be troubled to bother to ask.... so I didn't use the bar

Great location close to restaurants

1. Central St Lucia but one street up from the main road – Quieter with less traffic. 2. Back Up generator on site – We were able to run our room aircon during Load Shedding periods. 3. Big swimming pool with proper deep and shallow ends - Nice to take a freshwater dip after a day in the ocean. 4. Umlilo offers Beach and swimming towels as well as cooler boxes that you may borrow for your daily excursions. 5. Umlilo offers to book reservations for attractions you would like to visit – This is very convenient and at no extra cost but may allow you access to spaces other “walk-in” customers lose out on. Like the sunset cruise on the lake that seems to be permanently fully booked. Best time of the day to go, Hippos are relaxed and easily approachable. We got great views. 6. The property is built in a lush forest environment, shady with lots of trees and an artificial stream passing by your room on its way to the lower Koi-Ponds - a pleasant restful atmosphere. 7. Laundry service that you deliver to the reception in the morning and is returned to your room before 15:00 the same day.

1. We would have liked a microwave in the room – the only microwave available to guests is in the communal breakfast area. 2. The Wi-Fi was very spotty – But this seems to be a St Lucia area-wide issue as we struggled with our cellphone data coverage as well on all 3 major SA Networks. 3. Not relevant to Umlilo lodge - But bear in mind that for a pleasant beach experience with clear water and no strong currents or dirty water, you will have to travel to Cape Vidal - 34km away. This cost ZAR103 per person per day and may sometimes take an hour of travel time or even more depending on the queue to purchase entry permits into the park. The local beaches are difficult to access as the parking area is about 200 meters from the shoreline. This is a tough task with a gazebo, table, cooler box and chairs etc. The water is clouded with sand due to the river mouth 2km South of the beach and on the day that we visited, there was a strong South-North current.

Perfect accommodation when staying in St Lucia. Rooms were very clean and well equipped, staff very friendly and a there is a good breakfast buffet available.

I've stayed in great places before and this place definitely quantifies as a great one. But for me, what stood out is the incredible customer service and the going above and beyond. On our last day, we were booked for a boat cruise (organised by the lodge at no extra cost to us) but my son woke up feeling unwell. The lodge manager quickly moved our booking for us and extended, made sure we can check out much later in the day and allowed us to work around our circumstances. My son rested a bit, felt better - we had a great cruise and a great day out. This is just one example of the service you get in Umlilo lodge. Also - give the dinner at the lodge a go. Seriously - better than any other dinner I had in St Lucia!

I'm sure there's something but based on our stay there - it was perfect. Highly recommend.

Loved how kind, friendly and helpful the husband and wife team were! They made sure we were comfortable and kept our possessions safe while we went out on a game drive (which they organised for us!)

The bathroom fittings are getting a bit old and could do with updating, but it wasn't unclean and didn't affect us in the least

The trees, the garden, the very friendly owner, the service and the type of treehouse like construction is just amazing. You feel like in the djungle just without nasty insects.

Beautiful plants on the property creates a very tranquil atmosphere.
