Most staff were helpful and it was great that there was hot food options at a Holiday Express. Added bonus was that the food was good too.

I requested a double and was not notified that this was not available and arrived to a twin. An awareness would have saved the disappointment. I normally stay at the Hilton Racecourse but chose not to as they only had a twin. Had I know a double was not available I would have stuck with the Hilton Racecourse and had the use of a gym

We liked the overall quality and comfort of rooms.

The bed itself was very comfortable. Pleased that there was an accessible room available and it had a wet room.

There were ants in the room - two, at first, on my bed, then I woke up with one on me (and insects are not my favourite things, especially when crawling on me at night), finally they were in the mugs- unfortunately I made the tea in semi-darkness and didn't check the inside of the mugs first. Luckily for me, I saw an ant floating in my tea before I drank it but my 93 year old mother finished her tea and I then saw that there were 3 dead ants left at the bottom of her cup. Goodness knows whether she had also accidentally swallowed some. I was disappointed that when I reported these ants to the person on reception - and took the ants on a piece of paper to show the staff member - they apologised briefly and said they'd get maintenance to do a check. That was it - no empathy as to how we must have felt discovering ants on the bed and in our drinks. I was appalled that there was no offer of some sort of compensation - why should I pay £115 for a below-standard experience when others will have paid that much for a far better experience?

Greeted on reception by friendly staff who offered lots of recommendations based on our stay Rooms great with everything you need, clean and the sofa beds all made up on arrival for children Pub just across the car park and within a 10 minute drive to Yorkshire wildlife park which was the reason for our stay Breakfast good, the usually cooked breakfast as well as pastries, cereal fruit etc

Pillows weren't great but maybe just personal preference?
