Amazing location and amazing view. Would highly recommend to friends and stay here again when in the area. The staff had amazing customer service and assisted with all of our needs. The location was within walking distance of everything which made the stay extremely comfortable.

Walking distance to town centre
The shower over the bath. Anyone over 6 feet tall would not be able to stand upright

Only the location
Was put in a room on the 6th floor right next to bar/restaurant and conference area. There was a function first night. Walls paper thin, all the noise from people, kitchen, hallways, people stumbling and yelling on way to bathroom which was also by my room. As a standard, loud music playing from speaker in ceiling right near my room from early morning (8am) till late evening). Terrible setup, these rooms should be put out of commission
4.5
Fantastic location with great views across the Lake; really comfortable room and great facilities; Room Service delivered the nicest burger I’ve had for ages
No problems

I had a separate balcony which was nice (had a shared one last year during my stay). The view was lovely as was the young concierge guy Matteus (sp?) who was a delight to chat to. First impressions count when you’re working at a front desk and I was very impressed with his customer service skills.
Water pressure in the shower and it did fluctuate one day from extremely hot to freezing cold. The kitchen area/desk needs some updating.
2.5
location was great, amazing selection at breakfast and allergy friendly options, friendly staff, comfy bed
outdated small room, stains in sink and on bathroom vanity, bathroom shower over bath had a very low ceiling, really bad condensation and hardly any room to put 1 open suitcase let alone 2.
4.0
Helpful and polite staff
Great location
Comfy bed
Nice big balcony
Building is a bit run down
Some of the facilities were below benchmark like bathroom taps, bath tub etc needs a repair
2.5
Good location
Tried calling the property several times no answer at all.

I am super happy with room. We got an upgrade as the first room was in basement and couldn't see the lake. My husband asked and they took into consideration my birthday and view.
I now tell everyone how good Rydges are and have booked another room with them as service given was the deciding factor.
3.5
Good location with lake view
facilities needed upgrade , too old at the moment bathroom fan not working
2.5
It was close to the lake and town
It was dated, rooms were very stuffy with no air conditioning.

The location of the property is good
The staff was arrogant and didn’t provide great service

Breakfast was fine though at$38pp, The plunge pool right outside our room was very nice
Staff were pleasant and responsive to enquiries
The room was quite small, no table, plates etc to be able to eat in our room, and surprisingly no air con, just a heater that was remotely controlled coming on at odd times, so sometimes we were too hot or cold!
We expected a full dining room from the advitersment - but this was closed each night for private functions, the only option available was a very limited few options to eat at coffee tables in the bar area. I ordered the calamari for $18 - I got 3 tiny scraps , on a tiny plate. Hence we chose to eat elsewhere ,even though quite a walk away in cold windy weather at night.
3.5
Super location! Very friendly and helpful staff. The bar was very welcoming and a perfect spot. We only stayed one night but very comfy bed!
Nothing I didn’t particularly dislike, it was definitely a bit more on the pricey side especially for what sort of room we got. The sauna showers were quite dirty.
3.5
Room outdated and bathroom needs refreshing
4.0
Great location, great views from the room, lovely public areas recently renovated. The bar, dining room and lobby were all really nicely done out and all the staff were really friendly. It has an upmarket but funky feel and feels like it was a recent renovation. A very short walk from the main town which was great. Everything including the public area toilets were impeccably clean throughout.
The bedrooms are comfortable enough but pretty dated and need a refurb. The bathrooms were functional but very very basic, the walls are made from plastic sheeting which gives them a very cheap backpacker hostel feel. Just nowhere near good enough for the price per night charged.
2.5
It was ok... only thing was that it had good location close to town
The staff never told us about the breakfast and bar upstairs and didn’t explain we had to pay a bond in which I’m still waiting for it to go through 3 days later. I also thought we would get a balcony since we booked a lake view room but we didn’t like the others. I found the hotel rooms a little run down and expected better since this was the higher price hotel at 227$ a night. It was an ok hotel but wouldn’t stay there again

Location was fabulous and easy to walk to town,
View from front room was delightful
Staff were helpful and friendly
Evening menu wasn't to our taste, but that is being very picky.
4.0
Comfy beds, great location and views
Shower functionality poor. Water pressure and temperature did not work together - strong pressure was far too hot.

Always enjoy my stays here at the Rydges.
However, on one of the days there was maintenance or renovations in the room next door with constant drilling and hammering for a good few hours.
5.0
Super friendly staff, close to town. Bed was amazingly comfortable.
Only fault was our room only had 2x coffee sachets and 4x decaf sachets. Perhaps the other way round wouldce worked better?
4.0
The size of the room was fantastic. Extremely spacious and very comfortable.
The location of the hotel is exceptional. One of the best views in the City, and within walking distance to all the best places.
The fridge really needed replacing. It froze everything, and we had to throw a lot of food out.
Some more basics for the room would be good including plates and cutlery.
3.0
great location overlooking the lake. The bar was a lovely place to take in the sunset over the lake.
the room was small. lack of PowerPoints and the toilet seat was on a lean.
1.0
Nice view, big room
It STANK of sewage. They clearly know this is an issue, as they prop open the hallway door, but we still had to stay in a room that smelt like a septic tank. Yuk.
3.5
The room on the 3rd floor had an amazing lake view in Autumn time - the trees were golden, there was no snow yet, but it was simply delightful to watch how the weather changed the view from the balcony. The seating on the balcony unfortunately wasn't used as much as I'd hoped as it was just too chilly out. There was a comfortable single chair inside the room though.
The hotel location was fantastic ... close enough to the city centre to walk and also had a bus stop right outside in both directions (using the Bee Bus - $1-2 rides! How green & cost effective for getting to Arrowtown, the airport and from town at night time or when raining).
Unfortunately the night time dining experience was not as expected of other previous Rydges' stays in other locations. The Bar was the only available menu - mainly burgers & fries. They did use local beef - from Royalburn station, but unfortunately scorched the burger into dead crispness. I found the loudness of the bar unfavorable - speakers all the way around the room, there was no quiet corner to have a lovely drink and simply sit and look at the fabulous view on offer.
House keeping - don't expect your bed to be made!
Only basic - small fridge & coffee/tea making.
More information on tours would be helpful in reception & more information given by the check in person about what is on offer during my stay at the hotel.
The fire detectors are directly over the bed and flash all night.
3.5
The initial room was awful because of loud music from the bar, but the staff were very helpful and upgraded at no extra cost.
Also helped out and lent me a computer mouse, and when I locked my key in the room! Great attitude and assistance 👍
Facilities were reasonable as to be expected for hotel of this size and location
Amazing views of the lake and mountains
Rooms on 6th floor close to the bar are a problem from level of noise

2.5
Superb location. Stunning views from higher floors especially the bar area on Level 6.
Friendly staff.
Exterior looks grand but.....
Accommodation on Level 2 did not meet expectations. Has that tired feeling in some areas.
Small room. Shower over bath does not have a safety rail and therefore a hazard for older people.
Toilet difficult to flush.
Patio door difficult to open and does not lock.
Paying NZD1,400 for 4 nights we expected more.
3.0
Great location, easy to walk into town. Good on-site food options (when they are open). Friendly staff.
Hotel feels quite dated, there is no air conditioning in the rooms and during summer it was really hot overnight.
