the location was amazing.

The sound proofing in the rooms was horrendous you could hear absolutely everything that was going on in the room next door.

Lovely location in the midst of the citadelle over looking the river. The pool was clean, a good size and apparently open all the time. Food was good and well presented although not a great deal of difference in the dishes on offer over the 3 main meals we had in the restaurant, but I imagine that it was because of the need to cut overheads following Covid and the increase in heating costs. The staff were very helpful with one of our party with mobility problems

I thought the window was shut in the evening, but I had unfortunately left if open and the mosquitoes had a field day as a result!

Hotel staff helpful and I was quickly able to get the car in past the pietons, etc. I had a walk along the areas at the back of hotel and realised I was somewhere special, overlooking the estuary. What history must have happened there in all the years since the Citadel was built.

Not much to dislike about it.

No fridge in the room or tea making equipment

Excellent. We had dinner on the evening and that to was excellent. The staff, location and overall vibe of the place exceeded our expectations

A most captivating location. And a very well managed hotel. The sunset over the Gironde is worth the stay. Will certainly return if time and tide allows.

Amazing location set within a castle/citadelle.

you have to get used to opening and closing times of shops and restaurants as they all differ, best to book in advance.

Great location by the river and in the citadelle, spacious room and lovely staff.
