Very nicely appointed bedroom - we went for a superior one. Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast selection.
The chair at the dressing table had white stains on the seat pad and back, and the seam between them was full of crumbs.
We had driven from Edinburgh after work, aiming for c.8pm. I had not booked a dinner table as we could not guarantee a specific arrival time. The snowy conditions delayed us so we were nearer 9pm. The hotel phoned us to see where we were. I said that I had earlier left them a voicemail to let them know of the delay but they responded "we've been busy". It was about 8.50pm and I asked if the kitchens might be still open, but we were directed to other places, including the Indian restaurant. That and all the other places we tried in Kirkby Lonsdale all closed at 9pm for food. A shame, as it was my wife's 60th birthday. I though the hotel might have offered at least something easy and quick - even a snack. We made do with some packets of sandwiches from the corner shop to eat in our room.

I have wanted to stay in the Hotel as we come to Kirby Lonsdale a few times a year and have stayed at other venues, but the Royal I imagined would have that luxury feel as the downstairs area is lovely.
We stayed in room 7 the toilet never stops running, the room upstairs you can hear everything the floor is so noisy especially through the night when you can hear people using the toilet, the room was freezing the wall heater did not work and i didn’t feel i wanted to leave a plug in heater on whilst we slept.

Unfortunately there was a reduced menu choice (Covid related ) and therefore we were disappointed to have to go elsewhere for dinner

Lovely breakfast, excellent service at the bar and in the restaurant. We had a lovely meal on Saturday evening, while the room and view (No.3) was outstanding. We would stay again, were we to visit KL.
No car parking. Very awkward to move car around to find parking. I suppose the front of the hotel could do with a refurb, although perhaps retains its 'traditional' nature.

Beautiful high quality room. Easy check-in. Great location. Parking nearby very reasonable for overnight stay. Breakfast was tasty. Staff lovely. Really loved the sitting room area. Decor throughout was very tasteful, upkeep very high standard.

Everything was just right. The only complaint they were old sash windows which were beautiful but wouldn't stay open. Didn't spoil our trip though

Comfy bed and decent breakfast.
Good view from room (room2).
Shower was disgusting - black mould.
Crack in window and massive rip in chair.
TV was too small for being so far away from the bed.
Not good value for money at all due to cleanliness of shower and points mentioned above.
No parking or permit for nearby carparks - other hotels in town offer this.

The hotel was in a central location on the town square. The room was small but functional and clean. The bar had a good selection of cask beers and the breakfast was excellent.
The real kick in the teeth was having booked in April paying £135 for bed and breakfast we found on arrival that the hotel had an offer on for new bookings £123 for dinner bed and breakfast, the value of the dinner was £20 each.
In effect we paid £52 a night more than we should have done.
The staff whilst sounding concerned made no effort to look at how they could improve our position.
This left a very sour taste over 2 nights the extra cost was £104
Will I use booking.com in the future ? First check directly with the hotel to see if any offers are available.

Good location and a luxury bedroom.
Seemed to be a shortage of staff as glasses were not washed; by the end of the evening the bar was completely filled with dirty glasses. At breakfast service, tables were not cleared and every table in the breakfast area was filled with dirty plates.

Was our second time staying at The Royal Hotel. Had an evening meal there which was superb and breakfast on both mornings was served quickly and very tasty. Nice choice of cereals and there were pastry/ fruit options in addition to a choice of cooked breakfast options. Room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was massive - overall a great stay.
