Everything was as described and was a smooth process.

Spectacular home surrounded by preserved land with phenomenal views of mountains and desert. Home is beautifully appointed and reflects the touch and care of the owner. The house, patio, pool and spa were immaculately clean. The colorful flower beds, bird feeders, and nightly howls of coyotes gave the house a magical feel. Carefree and the neighboring town of Cave Creek still possess the character of the old west. There are several wonderful restaurants in town; many within walking distance. Nearby attractions include Spur Cross for hiking, biking and horseback riding, the Musical Instrument Museum, Native American Indian ruins dating back centuries and much more. This house is perfect for a couple, friends or family vacation. We will definitely be back.

Great location and property! Teri and Susan were very accommodating. If you are looking for a property that feels remote yet close to everything - this is it. Well equipped, wonderful views and beautiful patio/pool area, it doesn't get any better.

What a great stay! Property was as described, comfortable, fully equipped, and ready to enjoy! Teri was the most helpful host and always available for questions. Our stay at Painted Carefree exceeded our expectations. If you want peace and serinity this is the place. Its quiet, private, and extremely clean. We will be back for another vacation. The owner and owners helper were amazing to work with and just wonderful people.

This is a quiet, private and unique property situated close to entertainment and dining options. Located about 15 minutes from the Scottsdale Quarter shopping. The property is well appropriated, check in was seamless and Terri was available and attentive. The backyard and pool were nice and private with several seating options and a pool to cool off in. We enjoyed relaxing and watching wildlife in the morning and evenings. The home stayed wonderfully cool (that being an important feature in 115 degree weather). I would recommend listening for coyotes in the early morning hours. Basha’s grocery will deliver to your door and You really must visit Earl’s Greasy Eats nearby. Best breakfast burrito ever.

We so much loved our time spent at this beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, private space. so close to town… yet… so far away. We felt so comfortable! Not just the Beds or Furniture… that’s just a Bonus!
It feels loved and planned out for a perfect Retreat.
We didn’t need anything else! Everything you could want is There. From the booking ease and great communication with Susan… and… Teri greeting us with the coffee we drink and breakfast treats! It was a pleasure chatting with her as she showed us around the house and pointed out paintings, pictures artwork. Everywhere you look has a beautiful view! This place is Very Special.

We loved our stay at the Painted House. The home is a treasure and the location is idyllic. The town of Carefree is walking distance and oh so charming. We loved all of the unique hand-selected decor at the house - Susan has great taste. We enjoyed the fireplace outside and the hot tub so much! The home has everything needed for a wonderful stay and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout - games, a toddler booster seat we were so thankful for and welcome coffee/creamer and pastries upon arrival. It was a great place for our two pups as well. After all, its not a family trip without them! Teri and Susan were so warm and lovely. It was chilly while we were there so the pool was freezing and unfortunately it would have been too expensive to heat it but we still had the best family vacation. A perfect oasis to disconnect and reconnect with the ones you love. We hope to come back next year!

This home is lovely. Carefree and Cave Creek are so close to Phoenix but feel so far away. The hot tub is amazing. Bedding, mattress, pillows all were very comfortable. Kitchen is nicely stocked with herbs and spices, condiments and plastic bags if needed. Internet connection and cellular service are fast. We will return.

We had such a wonderful time at Painted Carefree! We fell in love with the house immediately, and felt so at peace during our week there. Watching for animals behind the terrace was a special treat each morning with our coffee, and the pool cooled us off after lazing in the sun and shade. I especially loved the outdoor fireplace at night to sit by while looking at the stars, reading and just enjoying the surroundings and incredible sunsets. Communication with Susan and Teri was warm and perfect, and the goodies Teri left us in the refrigerator were much appreciated. Thank you Susan for sharing your beautiful home, we hope to be back next year!

Peaceful, zen-like retreat for a long getaway. The outdoor garden/patio space was ideal for relaxing and entertaining. No detail was overlooked - from the fully stocked kitchen to a host breakfast first morning to a Smart TV to the scenic wash behind TV. Carefree is a short walk away and features restaurants, galleries and boutiques. We will definitely return. Loved Susan, John and Teri - so friendly and helpful!

Great location and wonderful outdoor space with pool, hot tub and wood burning fireplace. Home sits on over 2 acres with easy access to walking in Galloway Wash right out the back gate! Comfortable home with two bedrooms and two baths located within walking distance to Carefree. Very private with wonderful sunsets and attentive property management.

Perfect new year's stay 2021/22
Greatly enjoyed the inside and outside of the property at Carefree. Walked the wash, identified some cacti and birds. Also went for two long hikes nearby in Cave Creek. Excellent markets, restaurants, and shopping less than 1 mile away. The highlights of the property for us were the hot tub and pool, outdoor fire place, and lounging in the comfortable living room playing games and cards with our 10 year old son.

Such a lovely property and location. Close to all Carefree has to offer. Beautiful grounds as well as home. Kitchen well stocked with everything we needed, comfortable bed, TV room for watching the game, wonderful pool & Hot tub, and woo hoo very pet friendly. Communication with Manager and Owner was easy peasy. We plan to return!

Holy greatness
This house was everything promised & more. Our group of 4 made the most out of our relaxing stay here at the Painted Carefree. Susan was EASY to work with and Terri, property manager, went above and beyond in every single way. We will for sure be returning. Thank you all. The lime tree called for tequila for sure!!!!

Perfect place for a desert getaway
Our stay at Painted Carefree was perfect.
The house was incredibly comfortable with every amenity you could possibly hope for. There were plenty of shaded areas outside where we could enjoy the lpool area and landscaping without being in the sun all of the time. With the house backing up to the wash and preserve, we had all of the privacy we could possibly want. The close proximity to Carefree and Cave Creek made it easy to go out to eat at several of the great local restaurants. Both Teri, the property manager, and Susan, our host, were very accommodating and helpful. We cannot wait to return again.

Truly Wonderful
My husband, two teenage daughters and I loved our stay in the Painted House. The house was charming and we easily felt at home. The outdoor space was so inviting, from the mountain views, the pool and comfortable outdoor seating! The location was ideal. It was easily accessible to all local attractions and great restaurants. Teri was wonderful! Upon meeting her we immediately felt like she was an old friend. She left us many suggestions on eateries, shops, markets and activities, such as horsebackriding. We appreciated her check ins with us to make sure our stay was going well. This was a fun vacation for all!

Beautiful desert home
This is a comfortable home with breathtaking views in a terrific location. The house is very well equipped from plenty of towels to any kitchen utensil you can need. The patio is wonderful, comfortably furnished making enjoying spectacular sunrises and sunsets a pleasure. The pool and barbecue areas are spacious and also add to outdoor enjoyment. The location is perfect, close to shops, restaurants and great outdoor hikes and activities. It is cooler than Phoenix, both because of its elevation and desert surroundings. This home really is a lovely desert experience.

Perfect location amazing views
We are locals and had to move out of our house while the floors were being redone. Carefree/Cave Creek is a great area with old west charm. The location is great right down the street from Carefree Town Center and you can actually walk places. Saw plenty of wildlife in the area. House has great southwest vibes. We had tonstay extra days as the project took longer than expected and they were super flexible. Thanks for making our remodel project a little less stressful

The Best of AZ
We loved everything that this property had to offer and felt very immersed in the culture and geography of AZ. The inside accommodations were very comfortable and the layout of the house was fun and unique. I didn't want to leave the outside patio and pool area day or night! The smell of the flowers, the beautiful scenery and the refreshing pool were wonderful during the day. The open starry sky and relaxing spa at night was equally wonderful. We didn't make a fire outside but that is a great option as well. Would love to come back!

Truly "Carefree"
The home has an open and airy feel. The ceilings are high and we enjoyed the home's layout. The outside space is beautiful with lots of mature plantings. If you want to sit in the sun, there is always a place to find it. When it gets cold in the evening, they have ponchos outside for you to wear and a really nice outdoor fireplace. We used the outdoor grill and they had everything you needed to pull of a good BBQ meal. Overall - would recommend and would stay again.

Painted Carefree exceeded our expectations. It is not your typical rental, it's so much more. Susan and caretaker Teri will take care of every detail to make sure you are comfortable. You are close to Carefree and it's walkable yet you feel like you're in this oasis of natural beauty. The home itself is super comfortable and spacious for four. We especially loved the outdoor fireplace, barbecue and gas stovetop. We hope to be back.

The Best Ever
I have reserved many a VRBO over the years. This stands out as number 1 of all. It is a beautiful home, situated in the rugged but beautiful desert of rural Arizona.
Firstly, the home itself: Classically Southwestern furnished and beautiful. The perfect size for us two couples. All amenities present.
The backyard: A beautiful spa and pool. But more, there is no hidden corner of the property that doesn't have some delightful bit of garden, or inviting refuge for reading or meditating.
Beyond the walls: The first morning we were greeted by a "herd?" of javalinas just a few feet from our property! Then the entire week was all kinds of birds. We even saw a bobcat nearby. So having a wall there is a good idea.
Our hosts, Susan and Teri, were great and easy to connect with.
So what else is there? Just great all around.

Beautiful Painted Carefree
What a wonderful house and location. Great communication with Susan, the owner and Terri, the property caretaker. Everything was setup perfectly for our stay. Lots of extra details.
We loved the wildlife, the pool and hot tub and the sunsets especially. Carefree and Cave Creek are both fun with great restaurants. Dark nights where you can see hundreds of stars, No neighbors around. Just peacefulness. Highly recommend.

Had a great stay at painted in carefree. If you’re looking for quiet and secluded this place is perfect. The town of carefree seemed really cool also but we were content to relax in the amazing backyard and order takeout for 5 days. Highly recommend!

The house was amazing and had what few listings offer on vrbo - soul. I the pool was a hit and the sunsets the best I've ever seen right from the backyard. Genuinely a great experience.
