This was a wonderful experience for us. The place was clean, the town was within walking distance, and everyone involved in the check in and check out process was amazing. Will be booking again for another weekend getaway for sure!

Fire hazard outlets, boards with nails sticking out, a **** heater that didn't get above 63 degrees in temperatures in the teens. You could get MERSA in that place. Absolutely should be closed down. This was absolutely, by far and away the most disgusting and terrible place I have ever stayed in my life. My husband and I wanted to get out of Los Angeles for a cozy, romantic ten year anniversary getaway. Check in isn't until 4pm and check out is at 10am. This place is around 100sqft and absolutely filthy! Why did we pay a cleaning fee?? Cob webs everywhere, spiders crawling on the walls, the fan blades are covered in thick dust, the "white" window curtains are stained and filthy and a dingy yellow color, the shower doesn't drain while you're using it and in fact, crap comes up from the drain. Other peoples, hair, fur etc... This place advertises soap and a TV. We had no soap in the bathroom and the TV is internet only. That was fine until it just shut off 10 minutes after we got there. We called and they sent someone named Amber over to fix it. After she she couldn't fix it she suggested we watch a "disk" for the night. My husband and I don't travel with DVDs nor should we have to when paying for this amenity. There was one DVD that someone had left which was "The Deer Hunter". I guess we were expected to have that on repeat until the following day. Amber said they'd send someone over the next day to fix it. No one came and no one called us. A heater that doesn't get over 63 degrees in overnight temps in the 20s and boards with nails sticking out. Plus fire hazard outlets! Close this place down!!

Usually when we go to Idyllwild we go tent camping, but we wanted a bit of warmth and comfort this time around - this cottage was perfect. It was cozy, clean, warm and the hot tub was fabulous. -told at check in jacuzzi is full of chemicals so wait to use it.
Really ????

- Entering the cottage found flies all over the skylight screen and had to take the time to clear them all out.

- Floor was dirty and had to sweep up.

- found extra blankets with dog hair and dog bed dirty with dog hair and dirt from outside.

- a day after check out me and my wife find a BALD spot on our heads. Found out it is ringworm !!!

- our check in was later due to "covid" cleaning and we get ringworm for the first time ever.


- i emailed new spirit and never got a reply at all.

- this is really un professional "new spirit". I understand later check in times due to some obvious reasons but you had NO guest checked in prior. This was one of our worst experiences at a rental prop.

The cabin was just as described! The yard was perfect for my chihuahua, and even as an escape artist, he couldn't get out :) had a wonderful stay and definitely would love to come back!

I'd recommend if you have a dog, and it doesn't trustworthy in terms of staying within the yard...there are some places he/she might slip out(husky!!)
I think one needs to check if they've put more secure fencing on the one side.
I really,really liked the cottage! There is no oven, just a two-burner stovetop. This was not a problem. Perfect for two people!

We came up from LA for the 4th of July week to escape from the fireworks mayhem in the city, and I'm happy to say the loudest noise we heard the whole time was the tree frogs. This is a sweet little cottage, with all the amenities that were promised: total privacy, comfy bed, TV (once I figured out how to use it), good wifi, nice kitchen and bathroom, enough space to spread out a bit, a fine hot tub, and best of all, a private fenced yard for the dog to run around in. We hiked a little, went to town for coffee and groceries, and I had a wonderful massage down the road. I'm so happy to have found this little haven of peace and quiet.

The cottage is small but homey and comfortable. We did find the bed a bit too soft for us, but that's personal taste. We were very impressed with the fact that New Spirit is a non-profit giving opportunities to those who don't get lots of those; we'd never come across a property management operating that way and thought it a great idea.
It was helpful that a notebook explaining New Spirit was left out in the cottage as there ad been a small element of missed communication, but nothing that mattered. And when we learned we were working with people who may be new or not completely trained, it all made sense.

The private backyard isn't much, but the spa is spectacular, especially at night. The property is in a shared area with another house, so parking might be tricky if the other house has more than a couple vehicles. Just a few minutes walk from the main town area and great for star gazing or just generally relaxing.
