This is our second time staying here. It is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. Far enough out of town for privacy and close enough for fun.

We traveled with our daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren, aged 2 to eight to Durango looking to escape the Texas heat. Colorado did not disappoint! And Trout House.. . well, we felt like we had rented a little slice of paradise! This property is absolutely beautiful — very private, plenty of shade from massive trees, beautiful green lawns, flowers in abundance and the river just steps from the door — we fell asleep to the sound of it every night! The house had something for everyone — lots of space for all our activities and fun, cozy places to relax, and comfortable beds/bedding to rest and recharge for the next day. The “library” had puzzles, games, books and crafts for the kids. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed The master bedroom suite was absolutely incredible — spacious, luxurious, but still homey! This was by far the best VRBO stay we have ever had — we have rented in lots of places and this was just the best. We hope to rebook for next summer! Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating — Nick communicated quickly by email and texts, even made a phone call to make arrangements for a last minute schedule change for us. Honestly, I could not have asked for more. from him. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone! Just go and experience it. You will not be disappointed!

We absolutely love staying in this home, this is our second time and would definitely stay here again. The kitchen has everything you need to cook family meals. The location is spectacular, waking up to the sound of the river is everything. The owner is responsive and friendly. The pictures dont do this property justice. Thank you Nick and Caryn!

The property is beautiful. Being riverfront is truly unique. Couple of notes, no AC but as long as you open windows at night, and close windows/blinds during day it stays reasonably cool. There was only one free standing fan, could have used a couple more. One ceiling fan would not stay on unless the ceiling light was on, I’m guessing there is supposed to be a remote with it but we couldn’t find it. The listing accurately conveys there is a grill for use, however, there was no mention of the fact that it’s charcoal or to bring your own charcoal. When we got there we had to make a trip back into town to get charcoal. Overall it was a good experience. The owners were super helpful, when we reached out they were quick to respond.

This was an amazing property! The property is secluded while being close enough to town! Nick was helpful in sharing things to do for the week. Our kids spent most of the time outside playing games, fishing, or exploring the property. We saw a bear in the open field next to the property! We will definitely be returning and hopefully, getting the adjoining house for additional family! You won’t regret booking this property!

The property is amazing! My grandchildren played outside until dark. Everyone did some fishing. But mostly, we enjoyed being together in this beautiful house and wonderful property. Joyful experience!!

Clean, well appointed, excellent communication with host, very private. Beautiful location. We are three seniors who frequently travel together, so we tend to be “gentle” visitors. Couple of minor issues, easily rectified. Water was high from snowmelt runoff and was dirty, but was clearing up as we left. Should be good fishing opportunities later but not now. Some interesting wildlife viewing opportunities. The visit wasn’t perfect in every way but I will communicate my thoughts privately to the owner. Again, can be easily rectified. Please don’t think this is a planted review. It’s legit and I will be happy to speak with anyone offline for a personal reference. I stay at VRBOs all the time and this was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I’d give it a solid “A”, in large measure because of the ease of communications I had with the host.

Beautiful well furnished home on the Florida River 10 minutes east of Durango. Being from Texas, we came for the snow and weren’t disappointed. Home is very secluded and private and on the river. Exactly what we were looking for. Communication with homeowners excellent.

My partner and I traveled from Phoenix to Durango for Christmas and stayed at the Trout House. This cabin was perfect! We loved that it felt secluded but that it truly was only a 10 min drive to town. The hosts took the time to decorate for Christmas and this made it feel special for the holiday. The cabin was very clean and fully stocked! I would recommend 10 of 10 to stay here.

Great experience

Absolutely perfect. 10 minute drive to downtown Durango along the banks of the Florida River (with excellent access to a short stretch of river for fishing), the Trout House was a true gem. The house itself is cozy yet modern with a fully outfitted kitchen, 3 large bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms (the master bath is quite spectacular). Everyone in our family felt at home from toddler to grandfather. We understand we just missed a couple of bear sightings, but were delighted to see mule deer and an entire rafter of turkeys! Part of our contigent were avid flyfishers and spent time on the water each morning and evening catching rainbow trout 8-18"! We would gladly return--this ranked among the very best of the places we have stayed!

As I was departing the airplane, I checked my emails and the owner of my rented vacation home told me that there was a water leak on the property and we couldn’t stay that night or the next. In fact, he didn’t know if we could stay for our entire vacation of six days. He felt badly,.We were four hours away from our destination ; he gave us a few suggestions on other rentals, but we were on our own when making a new reservation.. He cancelled our reservation, with regret, and fortunately we found another.

Great location. Only about 15 minutes from Durango. Peaceful and quiet location. If you love to fish, this is the place or just enjoy the tranquility of the stream. The house had all the amenities of home. We felt very comfortable there and would definitely stay there again. Plenty of room and much more enjoyable than staying in a hotel. Southwest CO is gorgeous.

We enjoyed meeting the guests next door and then enjoyed our own space. The owners have thought of everything for a relaxing getaway.

Host were amazing the home and property was amazing. They even had a high chair for our 15month old. I would highly recommend this place that has the Florida river running in the front yard. My fam and I were amazed that we’re definitely going to stay her again! Don’t miss out on this place you won’t regret it!

This was our 11th spring break ski trip to Durango and the first time that we stay on the east side of Durango. This place was magnificent for my family of 6 adults and 2 infants! The amenities were excellent and the location was beautiful! The owners were so welcoming and communicated wonderfully with us!
