A perfect breakfast, with a good choice of things to eat, attractively set out. The room was superb, the position of the chambre-d'hôte an unexpected oasis of beauty in an inner suburb of Laval, the historic house a delight to see, inside and out.

The sheets were clean.
The room had not been cleaned for some time. There was woodworm dust falling onto the pillow every few hours, we had to move the bed. On turning down the bedcover there was a lizard in the bed which had come through the gap between the floor and the skirting board
The shower was obsolete and an electric socket was hanging off the wall. There were substantial cobwebs on all light fittings and in corners of the room, Towels and toilet paper had to be requested. The bathroom was up narrow stairs with low ceiling. Breakfast was basic and served in a room used as the owners office
We were in a room in an out building, maybe rooms in the main house were better as I see there are good reviews but sadly this was not our experience.

Unfortunately the property did not meet the expectation of the website review and we left feeling very disappointed and over charged.
The property could be fabulous but it felt uncared for and lacked investment.
A nice well stocked shop in the grounds quite reasonably priced.
On arrival the two planters at the entrance had been left to die - its not too difficult to keep planters in good order and they give a good first impression. The room was a good size but not a twin bedded room as expected as the two single beds were folding z beds not suitable to charge adults full rate for. The shower lacked water pressure and had no fixing to hold it in position. The dinner consisted of dishes made up from off the shelf supermarket food served cold, nothing freshly prepared, and the wine was cheap and un-drinkable. The cost for dinner and wine was restaurant pricing despite the poor quality. The breakfast was the worst I have experience in many years of holidays in France. The selection was so sparse and poor quality that it cost me 9 Euro for one burnt croissant, a glass or juice and a cup of coffee.

We love Manoir de Rouessé - always a great welcome, good food and comfortable rooms - roses, swifts and private parking add to the charm and this year a fabulous new Epicerie selling delicious French foods and toiletries to take home!

Beautiful location, easily accessible from the main roads and a short walk to the town centre. Very friendly reception and a stunning dog friendly room. Can’t recommend enough.

The bed was comfortable
We were bitterly disappointed! it needed a lot of attention and it was cold despite 2 radiators that didn’t really work! We arrived and there was no notification of how to get into reception. we rang the bell and stood in the rain for a few minutes when eventually someone unlocked the door. There was no sign to say “Entrance”so we just mooched around and found a bell. It needs a lot of attention…..I can’t believe we paid 90 euros to stay there!!

A very unusual and interesting property. Lovely large bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
There was no hot water and the owners seemed not to be able to correct the problem. As a recompense they did not charge us for our dog

The uniqueness of the building
The breakfast.. bread was tasteless and hard. One croissant per person and that was it.. cereals didn't look appealing. Very little social distancing during covid.. only wore a mask sometimes. No signs up referring to social distancing.

The hosts were pleasant and helpful and always ready to speak to us when we needed anything - and they gave us great tips for things to see and do. They were available at more or less all hours and work really hard! They have a large, smart on-site organic and gluten-free epicerie which they also run, and that's clearly a real benefit to townspeople. It that had good wine, and quite a lot of useful things for us to self-cater with in our room (we are vegan) which they allowed us to do without any problem. Breakfast was generous and nicely served in a big room in the chateau (continental style). We didn't eat in the chateau for dinner - we can recommend both Agra and Rajput Indian restaurants in town! The winding stone staircase up to our room was fun and the room itself had the proper ambiance of a chateau - with a modern bathroom with lots of hot water.
The chateau is much more dilapidated than we expected, and the garden was a real disappointment. We were expecting six acres of chateau garden to spend time in - a sort of recompense for the situation of the chateau being so near an uninspiring part of town - but it was a rough lawn, accessed past the bins, with discarded bits and pieces everywhere (a disused chip fryer, broken plastic chairs...). It was overgrown and the woodland was impenetrable. A path through it of the kind only children would attempt, dead birds...not a pleasant walk. The moat is completely overgrown and more or less invisible, so that your view from your 'garden view' window is of scrubland and weeds. There are rose trees that must once have been lovely, but hadn't seen a pair of secateurs in years. We sat out on plastic chairs on the front patio with a view of the car park and watched the bats in the evening. Nice enough as it goes, but it's really strange to us that they seem to be letting the garden go to wrack and ruin when it could have completely transformed the sense of the place - and their guests' experience. The room was clean enough, but was a family room (we'd booked as a couple) with a couple of camp-beds in it so it all seemed a bit makeshift. But it was a proper chateau room, and pleasant, if you don't mind poorly-fitting windows. The front approach to the chateau boasts an abandoned car and two lines of planters which were practically in pieces.

No in room facilities especially as not near anywhere to get a tea or coffee its a drive into town.
Beautiful historic property but obviously had a roof leak as ceiling of our room badly stained.
