Old beach shack overlooking beach.. Perfect!

Lovely hosts. Very comfortable abode with superb views. Spacious, with everything we needed This is our 2nd stay and it did not disappoint. John and Kerry made us feel right at home.

My Hubby and I loved our stay at the Beach Shack. The view and location are an absolute stand out. It is a bit tricky to find though.

An incredible property. I had to force myself to leave the house and visit the amazing national parks a stones throw away, just so l could return to this magical beach house. The view is over whelming

This is an original beach house with an extension that includes a master bedroom, ensuite, laundry and extra kitchen length (only the extension has flyscreens). It is located in bush on a cliff with lovely views of the main Tathra beach - the sound of the waves breaking on the shore was magic. Beach access was only a few mins walk down a path and steps, and it was walking distance to the Tathra pub and historic wharf. We used the kitchen and fireplace and found the beds comfortable. There is wifi, a large flatscreen TV, and lots of books and games. Even though the listing says it sleeps 6, only up to 4 adults and 2 kids are allowed and if 6 adults want to stay, the additional 2 adults are charged extra, which we declined. The decor is eclectic and our dogs were allowed everywhere in the house. When taking your own linen, make sure you include doona covers as they're not provided. We appreciated the late check out. Recommended!

Staying at The Tathra beach shack is a rare experience . It’s owner Kerry ( warm and helpful) gave us a little of it’s history on our arrival . Largely unchanged but with all necessary amenities it was a place to rest and recharge . It’s position on the headland with wonderful views and a short stroll down the steps to the beachfront meant not having to use the car unless leaving Tathra . It is rustic but that is part of it’s considerable appeal.

The views, ambience & position were terrific, let down by lack of maintenance. The carpets hadn't been vacuumed, outside was weedy & dirty. No timber or matches were provided for the fires & the barbeque & toaster were both out of action. The dog yard doesn't exist any more but a front garden bed with gates was usable. Tathra beach is lovely & largely off leash for dogs

This property is exactly as advertised- rustic and quaint with a beautiful deck overlooking the ocean. The shack is filled with charm and is a great spot for your four legged friend. We had a thoroughly delightful stay and will definitely be back!

The renting process was easy. John responded quickly by email and we were met by the charming Kerry on arrival. I loved the cottage from the moment I walked in. If a comfortable, rustic experience is what you are after then this is your place. The sheltered balcony was my favourite space with its relaxing views. Highly recommended.

An amazing old beach shack with some awesome original features and character-filled decor (no bland ikea furnishings here), not to mention front row seats looking out across Tathra Beach through the trees! Hosts were excellent and responsive, the house is pet friendly and it's 5 minutes walk to the beach, shops, pub, bowling club, and another 5 to the headland walk and wharf. Couldn't ask for more! Note for dog owners - the section of fenced yard has very low fences so big/jumpy dogs may need to be tied up if left unattended.

This is such a beautiful property. Kerry was absolutely lovely and very helpful. It rained most of the time we were there but we wouldn’t change a thing. The view was amazing and the shack is in such a great location. We cannot wait to come back.

Everything that a 50's seaside cottage was.

This is a wonderful location, though very difficult to find and directions not really sufficient, and finally we found it by accident. The beach shack is charming, in original condition, reasonably clean with beautiful views over the beach and ocean. We were able to bring our pup which was great. We enjoyed meeting Kerry ( one of the owners ) who came to welcome us and gave us recommendations and information on the area - we really appreciated this, thank you Kerry. The location is wonderful, so quiet and secluded but close to the beach which was great. We enjoyed Tathra and the area, and we would definitely love to stay there again.

A great ‘no frills’ property. The shack is an authentic old beach house. We loved it! The location is wonderful, the host friendly and helpful and the house had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We are so glad we stayed here at this beach shack. It is the cosiest and most comfortable little home - interesting trinkets around the house, very comfortable beds, gorgeous verandah overlooking Tathra beach and surrounded by gorgeous old gums and fig trees. We could slow down here and relax, with the sounds of the waves and the wind in the trees. It reminded me of my grandparents place when I was a kid - lovely homely feel. Location was amazing, 1 minute drive to the pub or down to the surf club. 5 minute walk to Tathra beach down the stairs (the kids counted 74 steps). Lovely host who left us milk, jam and eggs on our arrival. So glad we found this place.

Great location and nice relaxed feel. It is an old property but you know that from the accurate description. Very dog friendly and we would stay again. However not all dog owners are respectful and I fear the kids bedroom carpets had a few too many doggy accidents and really in our opinion could do with replacing with maybe vinyl?Again the views are magic. Shame it's not direct access to the beach, it might have been once, now you kind of have to go near the road down through reserve, still short walk though. Host is lovely, thanks for a great stay.

Just perfect. Despite torrential rain, we were cosy with the most blissful views and environment at the beach shack. Can't wait to return, it was super special for us and our fur babies. With breaks in the rain we could duck down the path to walk on the beach or pop up to the shops. The location is sensational.

The quintessential Australia coastal shack. Sitting on the cliff overlooking Tathra beach sits this little gem. Our stay was met with some pretty crazy weather, though the position on the cliff, provided a lot of shelter a from the elements and offered a refreshing breeze. Close the windows and the place stayed cozy and warm. Close to some of Tathra's gems, bring your mountain bike get down the stairs at the bottom of the block and flat ride 1km to the skills park.

beautiful spot away from hustle and bustle ... a perfect spot for a quiet trip away...
