Owners were very, very helpful and hospitable. Apartment was large, airy and clean. Location was not too close, not too far from everything. Truth be told, if you rent a Jeep or a Kia, nothing on the island is far from anything. Unit doesn’t have a tv or a/c but it does have a couple of good fans, a large kitchen, a large porch on the ocean side of the building and a large roof deck. Parking out front, a small but well appointed grocery store two stone throws away. Ocean, beach, restaurants and bars too close to bother with a car. Wild horses come and go as they please, and there are enough roosters to make you throw away your alarm clock. Toto, you’re not in Kansas anymore.

The roosters took some getting used to! Bring a speaker for a noise machine app; the roosters start at 3:30am!!!! It was also really warm when we stayed (to be expected in July). Location was great. Eileen's restaurant reccomendations were spot on! Decent snorkeling around the island. The fans could use a serious cleaning and the light bulbs should be awitched to led, since the incandescents provide unnecessary heat. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend! We had an amazing stay at Casa Almendro!! The first few days had excessive heat warnings, so we were extra grateful for the fans because the property doesn't have air conditioning. When there are no heat warnings, the ocean breeze is more than enough to stay comfortable!! We stayed in June. We loved the views from the terrace and from the rooftop deck. You can watch the ocean or overlook the town and mountains. We could even see a softball game at the park from the roof! This property is within walking distance to the malecon, the beach and restaurants. You are also half a block from a local grocery store which was nice! We rented a golf cart during our stay. We explored all over the island during the day and couldn't wait to relax on the terrace in the evenings. Plenty of local sounds from music, roosters and horses running up the street. Don't forget to close the gate or you'll have horses visiting!! Eileen was super helpful with any questions or needs we had during our stay!! We loved the personal touches around the house, it felt like home!! We can't wait to visit again ❤️

We loved our stay at Casa Almendro! It’s super close to beaches and restaurants, and the views from the rooftop are incredible. We also appreciated having beach chairs and towels to use. When we first arrived, it was extremely hot and humid and there is no a/c. I admittedly started to panic, thinking there was no way we were going to be comfortable. But TRUST US, the fans and open windows *are* enough! Yes, you will hear roosters in the morning but that’s just Vieques. And you might as well get up and start enjoying the island. Also recommend buying some coffee at one of the grocery stores as it’s surprisingly difficult to find an open coffee shop.

Casa Almendro had everything we needed to have a relaxing week in Vieques. The views from the porch and rooftop were incredible! The colors, the colors, the colors- so amazing! The kitchen was set up nicely with all the dishes and cookware we required. The beach towels, chairs and cooler were perfect. We even had access to some snorkeling gear that worked for us. The location made this stay so easy. Just a short walk to the Malecon - where there are restaurants aplenty, and a friendly market just a block away from the house. So close to nearby beaches- either by walking or short drives. We would definitely recommend Casa Almendro. We will be back!

We had an amazing stay at Casa Almendro :) Breathtaking views, walking distance to shops, restaurants and beach:) Other attractions, to include kayaking the Bio Illuminescent Bay and Black Sand Beach a very short distance. We were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Eileen was an amazing host, quick to respond to our questions. We plan to return in the future:)

The large covered porch was our favorite place to relax and take in the incredible view of the ocean. We also enjoyed the views of the sunset from the roof top terrace! The location was close to a small convenience store and an easy walk to the boardwalk and village area. Our host was quick to respond and offer assistance and was a great help in planning our trip on and off the island. Thanks again for all your help making our vacation a memorable one!

Eileen helped us navigate little things like the water supply being cut off to the island and gave us a wonderful place to rest our heads at night. The location is a little noisy (partying nearby on Saturday night and roosters very loud every early morning), but within easy walking distance to the malecon, restaurants, convenience store and tour pick ups. We loved it!

The apartment is more like a cross between a studio and a 1 bedroom. Plenty of space and a full kitchen! The gardens around the house are very pretty and add to the privacy.

The apartment was very comfortable and has large outdoor terraces with great views of the ocean. Hosts are extremely helpful and accommodating. Short walk to the bay and to excellent restaurants. Grocery 1 block from house. Highly recommended.

Welcoming home with lush landscaping. Comfortable outside furniture. Full-size kitchen stocked with cooking and eating utensils. The roof was a big hit. I enjoyed going up to watch the stars, sunrises, and sunsets. The list of recommendations of where to sightsee, eat, and shop were very valuable.

Was very disappointed with representative from VRBO, wasn’t contacted until day I landed at airport with info on how to enter the property, wasn’t made aware of the fact that there was no ferry to the island the house was located on because of the holiday . I was a single woman alone in another country , I had to come out of pocket another 300 for a room . I now being charged 250 for a set of keys that was left on the patio table because the lock box was broken. I’ve tried to communicate with the representative abt the issue only to be called a liar I wouldn’t recommend that anyone stay at this location

We loved this apartment! Wonderful covered patio plus a rooftop patio. Lots of inside space for the two of us. Walking distance to restaurants, beach and minimart store.

We loved everything. Access was easy. It was clean upon arrival. Had everything we needed for a three day beach vacation. Walkable to a local market and restaurants. Beaches were gorgeous.

Had an amazing time! The host Eileen answered all questions in a very timely manner, and had great suggestions for snorkeling, and car rentals. The property was clean, spacious, super cute, and close to everything. The clear bottom bio-bay tours is a MUST and Crystal Clear Snorkeling private tour was well worth the price, we saw turtles, stingrays, and trumpet fish and received great pics to remember the experience. Can't wait to return with my kids and would stay here again. It's easy to fall in love with Vieques!

This is a great place to stay while in Esperanza. It's an easy walk to Sun Bay for a magnificent beach! The Malecon is nearby and there are restaurants and a few shops to visit on this Main Street (Calle Flamboyen). Eileen and Anthony are wonderful hosts and very quick to communicate . The best feature of this apartment is the wrap around veranda for a beautiful view of Esperanza Bay!

We were fortunate to find an opening for this incredible property. We especially enjoyed the outdoor spaces including the magical rooftop views in all directions. Getting to Vieques can be a bit tricky, since the ferry schedule varies and tough to nail down. I highly suggest reaching out to Eileen for advice and recommendations in advance. She was a fabulous resource and very willing to help throughout our entire stay. Not sure you could find anywhere better to stay on the island.

Eileen and Anthony were great hosts. The unit is well equipped and comfortable. No AC wasn't an issue as the breezes (and fans) were blowing. The cacophony of crowing became a source of entertainment. Highly recommend.

Apartment is in a great location just a few minutes walk from the Malecon and has everything you need to enjoy the island!

Steps away from the restaurants, sea front, and activities of Vieques. Access to the roof for sunset was a bonus. Eileen was an excellent communicator- helped us arrange a last minute car rental! Overall quite the gem

Amazing time in Vieques. Our stay and hosts were wonderful. We cannot say enough about their hospitality. We even arrived several hours ahead and were given the ability to drop bags and enter early. Outdoor space is amazing. We had plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy our time. So thankful we had the hosts we did and will be back. It was truly that special.

Amazing stay with a slightly rocky start. The roof top, full 360 view, was absolutely beautiful. This was my first time using VRBO and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get a nice and quiet getaway. Although our host only reached out to us once, which caused confusion and a little frustration, she helped us work things out and we had an amazing stay. Easy walking access to beaches and restaurants. Plan ahead for ferry and transportation and leave enough room for "island time"!

We really enjoyed our stay at Eileen & Andy’s. They were so friendly and welcoming. The apartment is well-kept and clean within walking distance to the Malecon and a neighborhood market. I though no A/C might be an issue, but with the fans on it was perfect at night. We loved everything - other than the nocturnal roosters…. 😂 which have nothing to do with the property, they are just part of life on the island.
