After 20 years of vacationing in the Outer Banks, our family was looking for a different destination, and we definitely hit the jackpot with our stay at Lake Gaston. We were an extended family of 13 (ages ranging from 6 months to 79 years old), and everyone had a great week. We especially loved the cove...it was so serene. We enjoyed many adventures in the 4 kayaks and also brought 2 inflatable stand up paddle boards. We rented a boat for 2 days and enjoyed towing a raft behind that. The lake was definitely not overcrowded. The kitchen is well-stocked, and there is ample seating for everyone. Meredith was great at responding to questions and providing extra information. We were all sad to leave...definitely a sign of a great vacation.

What a fabulous week with our family. Ages 2-67, everyone relaxed and enjoyed the kayaks, other boating, fishing and being together in such a comfortable spot.

We loved our fun family celebration for my mom's 80th birthday! Three generations loved the house, the location, the kayaks, the firepit and we will always have our memories of this weekend! Bedrooms were great, having 4 bathrooms was awesome! The kitchen was well stocked! We would definitely come back! Thanks Meredith!

We had a wonderful stay. There was lots of room and the children loved the downstairs area.

The house was great for our group of 10. It had everything we could hope for including a dock big enough for 2 boats. We had a great time whether on the lake or in the house ( due to T-Storms). Would definitely recommend this home to others.

We enjoyed the property overall with the following exceptions: No firepit, none of the floors had been swept/vacuumed, there was trash in drawers & under beds (i.e. an old retainer), the right kitchen sink & drain rack were filthy, the Sleep Number beds' controls did not work & the mattresses kept sinking under the person's weight, & lastly, both hall bath sinks had really slow drains.

The setting of our family vacation was beautiful. The kayaks (even tho two had pretty bad leaks) were a great hit. We watched Justin Beaver every morning and had beautiful sunsets each evening. Kitchen was well equipped and everyone loved playing air hockey. Only suggestion would be to spray better for spiders - we all came home with lots of bites - from inside the house - not outside. But - overall - well worth the trip and had plenty of space for our crew!!

Great location and amenities. Lovely, safe cove, perfect for kids to swim and kayak. We saw so much wildlife! We’ll be back!

Everyone from 12 to 91 had a great time.. many, many hours on the lake.... excellent family vacation!!

We stayed at this beautiful home on our family/friend vacation. The home was very clean and had all amenities that we needed. The layout was nice being able to give the kids there own floor and the kids enjoyed the air hockey table and games provided. The dock was perfect for fishing, swimming and using the kayaks that were provided. We also had a boat and the covered dock was nice to be able to use. Being on this part of the lake was nice with the reduced boat traffic compared to the main lake which made tubing and sking lots of fun. I had to make contact with the owner a few times for help and she was so helpful and quick to reply back to messages. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone.

Spacious property with great amount of beds spread out so everyone has their privacy. Quiet back in the cove with area to hang out in the water. Use of provided kayaks for adventuring out and fire pit at night for whole family to hang out.

This home was exactly how we expected it. Being at the end of a cove, wooded lot and out in the rural area. The closest place to get groceries is even 25 mins away. Once that was done we were set. Our vacation is spent enjoying the water by watching the kids jump off the dock, kayaking and fishing while we adults float on rafts sunning ourselves. That's exactly what we did having great weather to do so. The owners were great to work with leaving us with good information on the area for restaurants and things to do. The men enjoyed 2 different golf courses and we had great meals at Skipper Forsythe BBQ and Shady Shack.

Our family enjoyed a great first ever lake vacation! Tranquility Cove was a wonderful setting in an almost private cove. Kayaking, fishing, swimming, boating were enjoyable in this secluded area. The house met all our needs as there were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for the entire family! Thanks to the Chisholms for sharing their special place!

The home was exactly like it was described. Everything was clean, the kitchen was well-stocked, and they were generous with soaps, towels, and household necessities. The game room and use of their kayaks made for great fun for all!

Such a wonderful for a men’s weekend away. The house is beautiful and there is so much room! Fantastic property location in a cove. We fished, kayaked, went golfing and sat around the fire pit at night! Just a perfect long weekend- we will be back!!

From arrival to departure we just couldn’t get enough: peace, restoration, relaxation, and time. My spouse and I arrived prior to our family. This was our first real family reunion since Covid. We have all been fully vaccinated. Family could not get enough so we extended a few days. Our host, Meredith, was responsive immediately. Thank you so very much, Meredith. After family departed, my spouse and I realized that we needed more time away from our B&B before the season got hectic for us. So, we contacted our host and once again Meredith replied immediately and we were booked for an additional day. Sometimes you just can’t get enough. There are so many wonderful things to say about this house - it was everything we were looking for and more! My husband and I decided to take our family on a bit of a retreat for a few nights where we could get away and unwind after a long year of remote work and school. Our goal was to find a place on the water with kayaks on the property. This house was absolutely perfect! The location is ideal. We woke up each morning to gorgeous views of Lake Gaston. The house is situated in a lovely and quiet cove. For the first couple of days I continued to work remotely while my husband and our kids played outside or inside (they loved the air hockey table, the Wii, and all the awesome games). We loved the kayaks and being able to sit on the deck and just take in the gorgeous views. The house is spacious - there was plenty of room for the 5 of us. The beds were comfortable and everything was exceptionally clean. Additionally, the hosts were always responsive and helpful. We loved this trip! On the final day we commented on how rested and relaxed we felt. This trip was needed and this property provided the perfect spot with everything we needed. I can't recommend it enough. We hope to return again!

Our family wanted to get away from the big city of Miami and relax, and Tranquility Cove gave us that and more. The property is stunning, and our four teenage boys had a blast exploring the property and enjoying the serene views of Lake Gaston. The property owner was incredibly nice and helpful, and communicated quickly and efficiently. We plan to return during the summer months to enjoy the kayaks and the many marinas nearby. Thank you for giving our family a fabulous, relaxing vacation!

We had a blast staying at Tranquility Cove! The house has a great set up to accommodate our group. There were plenty of amenities from kayaks to a great sun deck over looking the cove. The owners went above and beyond in responding and making sure our booking was handled with care. Thank you!

Nice location, quiet, less traffic on lake in this area, kids and adults like d the kayaks, kids especially liked the game room. Everything was great with the following items. We had to clean the inside of the oven before we could use it and we did have an ant problem in the kitchen. It did rain alot so I am guessing that drove the ants inside.

Earthquakes and rain notwithstanding we had a great week. The kids love tubing and also just floating around. The owner provided 4 kayaks, so we didn't need to haul our own. Beautiful spot.

Great place to spend a week with family. Easy access to lake, fun swimming in cove, plenty of room to spread out in house. Nice quiet, private space. Highly recommend renting a pontoon or boat. This place is in a perfect spot for tubing, etc. Entire family loved this vacation! Upstairs king bedroom was perfect for couple with a 1 year old, quiet and private. Everything was as advertised, everything worked. Thanks for making your bakehouse available to us!

Our family enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. We enjoyed hanging out on the boat dock watching the kids play in the water and fish off the dock. We all enjoyed boating, kayaking and just chillin on the dock. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking meals. The owner was absolutely wonderful and provided good general information about the area.

House is fantastic and plenty of room. The basement game room is a great addition to the house and kept the kids entertained during the evening after a long day on the lake. Unfortunately the water isn't that deep off the dock so swimming from the dock is a little challenging. Overall a great experience and well worth it.

We really enjoyed the time spent on a quiet cove on Lake Gaston. House was very clean although some utensils were dirty. Enjoyed the kayaks and the various wildlife we saw. Had to share the deck with spiders and ants but overall a really good week.

My family and friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We spent most of our days sitting on the dock, using the kayaks, and water skiing. Meredith was an excellent hostess which made our stay even better.

We had a wonderful time! The property was exactly as described and there was plenty of room for all 14 of us! Hope to stay here again in the future!
