We spent three nights in this apartment and it was perfect! The owners thought of everything we could possibly need. The apartment was clean, quiet and comfortable. We walked to many of our destinations. They gave us some great recommendations on restaurants andsites to visit. Highly recommend!

We were in Newport for the US Men's Sr. Open at Newport CC. We loved the location of the cottage--in a quiet neighborhood close to the Cliff Walk and beach. Lou gave us excellent restaurant suggestions and was quite attentive. We would definitely stay here again!

The location was absolutely perfect. It's a small but very accommodating renovated garage behind the owner's property, which makes communication very good if ever you need anything. It is a short walk from the beach and a short drive from the busy streets on the wharf and near Thames. Lou, the owner, is very hospitable and does everything he can to make sure you enjoy your stay. On day one, he called and sent tips for around the area, like food and attractions. We were able to meet him and talk to get to know each other, and he is a very kind and welcoming man. I definitely recommend!

My first vrbo experience and we couldn’t have chosen a better spot! Perfect size and amenities. The cottage was so charming and clean. We were in Newport to celebrate our wedding anniversary and this great cottage was just what the doctor prescribed! Lou welcomed us with a bottle of wine in the cozy kitchen. The property was perfect for two and had everything to make a getaway memorable. It’s tastefully decorated and equipped with with new amenities. The property is on a quiet street and a short walking distance from a beach, the cliff walks, mansions, and all the other attractions of the city. If there’s one little snag for this very satisfied guest, it’s the skylight in the bedroom. At night, it’s great to see the sky from the bed; but in the morning, if you don’t have a sleep mask on, you may have to rise with the sun. 😃 We certainly plan to return!

Cute place near the southern part of the Cliff Walk. It is a mile or so from the wharf and restaurants & we did lots of walking, but if you aren't up for lots of walking, then you need a car, or can do lyft. The kitchen has everything you need for coffee, or to cook/reheat food. The bedroom and bath are up stairs, which was fine with us. Everything was clean and comfortable with everything wet needed for a few days. The host Lou was good at communicating, and checking in. We enjoyed our stay very much! Thanks Lou!

This was our first visit to Newport, R.I. and only about the second time we decided to stay in a vacation rental property using VRBO. So, understandably we were a little apprehension. We could not have been happier or more pleased with every aspect of our stay at Almy Cottage! The property was clean, well-maintained and in an OUTSTANDING location, just a few minutes walking distance to the Cliff Walk and all of the must-see sights in Newport. The owner, Lou, was extremely cordial, accommodating and obviously very interested in making sure all of our questions were answered and that we were comfortable. The property itself was exactly as described and worked out great for my wife and me. The kitchen area was compact and very functional and suited our needs for four nights very well. The upstairs living area was very comfortable and met our every need, as well. I believe one of the best recommendations that anyone can provide is simply that if they had something to do all over again they’d do the exact same thing. Well, thanks to Lou and his impeccably clean and comfortable property, we’d be staying at Almy Cottage again for our next trip to Newport!

This cottage was simply perfect for the two of us. We have everything we needed, the cottage was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts were a delightful and accessible. In a tumultuous world, this place felt like home. Thank you for an excellent stay and we will definitely be back.

What an excellent property- it was the perfect spot to have as home base while in Newport. The accommodations were comfortable, the location was ideal for getting out and about and Lou's beach and food recommendations served us well. If we head back to Newport this would be our preferred spot. Thank you, Lou!

We had an amazing 4 days stay in this great spot. It is right by the Marble House, beach, free summer shuttle and the cliff walk. It was also easy to bike to the festival. There is a full kitchen for coffee in the morning or to make a meal or warm up chowder in the evening. We highly recommend a stay here if you can get it.

We stayed in a wonderful place, the host was very helpful and accommodating. The cottage had everything you could need and more . There was a patio area which was cozy and peaceful. We truly are happy with the whole experience.

We booked a last minute trip and the hosts were more than accommodating. Very nice people with plenty of local knowledge to offer. The place itself was very clean, easy to get to, and walking distance to the beach, cliff walk, and restaurants ( a little further but the walk is nice.) We will definitely be staying here again!

Hosts were excellent gave suggestions of what to see, places to eat and were available for little requests to make the stay comfortable. Queen and futon bed worked for us for two night stay.

Loved the stay! I was able to experience Newport as a local instead of as a tourist. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, but very close to the mansions on Bellevue Ave. and an easy several blocks to the start of the Cliff Walk, namely the more natural, rugged part of the walk. Harbor area and Washington Square not far. Lou was a friendly, generous, responsive, informative, and wonderful host. Kitchen was great, as were outdoor grill and picnic table. Sleeping and sitting area isn’t huge, but quite comfortable and enough. Newport is a very special place. I would happily stay here again. Thanks, Lou!

Lou was a great host and the check in process was super easy. The apartment was cozy and had everything you could need. The location is also fantastic. It wasn’t clear to me that this was an apartment above the garage (and not the pictured home) but it was still a great stay. There is also not a table or a desk so if you need to work remotely, I would just plan ahead and bring your own table. I would absolutely stay here again—it was perfect.

We booked this property on a last minute planned trip to Newport, RI. The cottage is absolutely perfect, clean, and the perfect location in Newport for all the attractions. We were within walking distance to the Cliff Walk, beaches, the mansions, near Ocean Drive to loop around the coastal viewing area. It is also so close to the wharf area and restaurants, Newport Winery, and Sachuest beach and wildlife area. The cottage is quaint and the owners were very kind and helpful on things to do. We hope to visit again soon!
