Very user-friendly property!

This is the second time we've stayed here. The location on the lake is spectacular. The grill, fire pit, and boats are all really top notch. Place is pretty close to Acadia and other places to check out as well.

For our third year in a row we enjoyed staying here. We enjoyed the fire pit, the sunrises, trips on the aluminum boat to blueberry island as my kids call it, and swimming off the dock. We had some rain but the huge collection of videos and books kept the kids entertained until we were back on the lake. Went to Acadia one day and it’s a short drive for an easy day trip. Sand beach was gorgeous and perfect for the kids to play.

We had a great time at the Shaw camp! We had a mix of weather but got a few days to enjoy the lake and boats. Watching everyone's personal 4th of july fireworks around the lake was fun. The king size bed upstairs was a pleasant surprise. My inlaws enjoyed having the bunk house with its own bathroom to themselves. We weren't sure how our kids would do with out a beach but they say they liked swimming off the rock better because they didn't get sandy when they got out of the water. All in all a great vacation. Thanks you to the Shaws for allowing us to stay at there camp!

The property was exactly as described. Our son’s had a wonderful time kayaking and taking the boat out to fish. They caught several bass and blue gill off the dock as well. We saw the bald eagle fly by, the night sky was so clear you could see thousands of stars. Listening to all the sounds of the areas wildlife was so fun! The morning sunrises from the deck were breathtaking. Bar Harbor and Acadia were a short 40min drive away with several gift shops and lobster pounds to stop at. Defiantly stop by the little white house down the street(signs outside) to grab some wild Maine blueberries and blueberry pie! We had an amazing time and hope to be back soon.

Possibly the best views of Branch Lake with deep Water for swimming and fishing. We all had the best time.

We enjoyed this camp so much last year that we decided to come back again. The clear water, the views, and the privacy make this a perfect getaway. The house is fully stocked with cooking supplies and recreational gear for lake life. Just bring some groceries and your swim suits and you’ll be ready to go! Our 4 children and 2 dogs lived on the docks most of the week. A 45 minute drive to Acadia with hiking and swimming at Sand Beach gave us several day trips. We also hiked locally; with a favorite of Blue Hill Mountain with views of Mount Desert Island and wild blueberries. Helen’s Restaurant in Ellsworth offered $7 Haddock burgers and yummy blueberry pie. More wonderful memories made in Vacationland!!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The access to the boat, the fire pit, having the kayaks, canoe, the hundreds of movies and the floating dock gave us plenty to do. There are neighbors around but it was a very quiet area. The bonus was the bunk house that has a full bathroom in it. This was great for my adult kids to feel like they had their own space. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We loved our week at the Shaw camp! The lake, of course, is the centerpiece, but the cabin is perfectly set up for enjoying all the lake has to offer. My son fell in love with the motorboat, and my favorite activity was kayaking around nearby Blueberry Island and looking out for loons. The night sky at Branch Lake is a sight to behold... sunrise, sunset, and moonrise are all worth changing your sleep schedule for. We saw turtles, hummingbirds, and ducks with their ducklings -- and one morning a bald eagle perched on a treetop right next to the deck, just hanging out! We ate all our meals on the deck overlooking the lake, except for the couple of rainy evenings, when we enjoyed the very extensive movie collection :) The kitchen is thoughtfully well-stocked. We grilled some dinners on the deck, and also used the firepit for s'mores. While our group didn't end up being big enough to need the beds in the bunk house, I thought the bunk house was very charming and cozy--the pictures don't do it justice! We may just sleep in there next time, as it's much more accessible to its bathroom (you need to take the outside stairs to get to the bathroom in the A-frame house, which wasn't a big deal, but when it rained at night, we got a little damp...!). We spent one day in Acadia, and did the kid-friendly Ship Harbor Trail at low tide so that we could observe the animals in the tidepools on the rocky shore. Branch Lake is a special place, and I'm thankful Jenn and Burr shared their cabin with us so we could experience it for one glorious week. Thank you!!

We spent the week out on the lake with the kayaks, canoes, and aluminum boat. Fishing was great, the water was so clean you can see the bottom at least 10 feet down. My kids swam to the float and around the dock most of the day. We had a great time and are planning on returning next year.

My family and I had a great stay at this property. We loved the location with the lake, view, dock, boats and peacefulness. We spent the week outside on the lake and in Acadia and are hoping to return again.

This was our second time staying with Jenn and Burr and it was even more wonderful than the first. The addition of a third kayak and swimming platform were nice touches, and it doesn’t get much better than relaxing on the back deck overlooking the lake. We will definitely be back hopefully for years to come.

Cabin rustic and very homey. A bit smaller than expected. But we didn't want to be indoors anyway. Cabin was clean well stocked kitchen and pantry. Made cooking simpler and a really nice grill also. Fishing swimming and lots of tranquility. Kayaks and boat made teenagers very happy and busy. Watching fireworks around the lake was very special,everyone was respectful for the peace and quiet of all involved. Really didn't want to leave. Great family time. Not recommended for handicapped or anyone with mobility issue as staircases are very steep. Of course I think we were there for the first heat wave ever! Ac was a bit lacking.

We really enjoyed our stay. The views from the deck looking out to the water was very peaceful. My wife and I took advantage of the kayaks that were provided and there were many interesting sites to discover. The property was conveniently located near Bar Harbor and Acadia. We totally enjoyed this camp and the lake is wonderful. the kitchen is very well supplied and the beds are comfortable. Linens were great in bedrooms. Towels need to be freshened up in bathroom. It would be important to note there is only access to upstairs by the outside steps. We didn't realize this. But it worked out ok. Overall, a wonderful vacation spot!

We absolutely loved our stay in this cozy red cabin in the woods with the great views of the lake! A lot of privacy. We were very lucky with the weather, not a single rainy day. Our family enjoyed swimming and jumping off of the floating dock, kayaking, riding the fishing boat and especially beautiful sunrises☀️ Away from it all! We were hiking in Acadia N.P. every day and visited Bar Harbor as well. I did not mind no wi-fi connection at all😊� I would definitely recommend to all outdoors loving people. Erika H. Chicago, IL

-Great deck and dock space. -kayaks and canoe on site were a bonus. -Would recommend renting the bunkhouse if you want separate sleeping quarters since the 3 beds in the main cabin are only separated by a curtain. -Owners are very responsive and keep the cabin well stocked.

We have spent an amazing week (July 16 - 23, 2016) in Jenn and Burr's little red house. The property location is excellent, the lake is beautiful for swimming, kayaking and fishing (a few not small smallmouth bass were caught right from the dock). Loons were swimming near the same dock every morning and evening on a midweek days. We liked the deck and had all our meals outside. At night we were taking advantage from huge movie collection provided by owners. And, of course, there are many shacks around with lobsters available... Another great plus is a close proximity to Acadia National Park (approximately 40 minutes by car). That was a real dilemma to decide: stay on a beautiful lake or go to beautiful Acadia (we divided our time equally but returned to the lake for evening swim and kayaking). Communication with owners was very reliable. All our requests were timely answered. Thank you, Burr! We will definitely consider this place for our next Maine vacation...

We had a wonderful time at the Shaw's camp, it was the perfect get away for us.. We have a six month old daughter and were able to enjoy the beautiful lake, views from the deck and proximity to Acadia and Bar Harbor while keeping our little one comfortable and happy. This little A-frame was great for my wife, son, his friend, and our border collie to relax for a week. But for one day of rain, the weather was perfect. We ate every meal out on the deck, except during the one day of rain. The location was ideal on Branch lake with access to the small motor boat that allowed us to tour the lake and get some amazing smallmouth bass fishing in. We all caught some nice fish with the best ones coming straight off of the home's docks!! Our border collie had a blast jumping off the dock and swimming around while we relaxed on the deck. The best part was that it was a protected and quiet area of the lake. Friends of ours where on the western side and much more exposed to winds blowing across the lake. We were able to visit them thanks to the small boat and outboard that we got as part of the rental! Access to Acadia was very easy and a short 40 minute drive away. The town of Ellsworth had all the supplies we needed, including Dorr Market for some stunning lobsters and amazing clam chowdah! There were several grocery stores with good selection and a Walmart where we got our fishing licenses. The cabin itself was very well stocked and had everything we could have wanted inside and out - including kayaks and a canoe. My 14 year old son and his friend took the kayaks out nearly every day! The fire pit was also great to make some shmores after dark. Cut wood was supplied in a covered wood pile. We also used the high end BBQ grill and the propane stand/pot to boil the lobsters we bought. We decided four stars vs. five because we would have liked the upstairs bedrooms and downstairs living area to be connected internally (you have to walk outside to the deck from the kitchen/great room area and then go up an external set of stairs to the bedroom - only bathroom is also downstairs). Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the interiors are a bit dated. Regardless, all was clean and comfortable - and as I mentioned above, we stayed outside most of the time, only staying in to watch movies in the evening (incredible collection of movies on the hard drive attached to the TV) and to sleep at night. To end on a high note, the owners, Burr and Jenn Shaw, were great in answering questions and addressing concerns. The only real issue being some confusion by VRBO on returning our security deposit (not the owners' fault at all!). Burr helped tremendously in getting it all straightened out quickly. THANKS!!

Our family of 6 (4 young kids under 9) spent the week of July 4th at this beautiful camp. The property and view of the lake was exceptional! Quiet and relaxing...we felt as though we were the only people on the lake as there was very little boat traffic or noise from others. We used the kayaks and canoe daily... loved exploring the lake and all the wildlife surrounding it (bald eagles, loons, etc). Kids fished right off the dock as well as from optional boat we rented for the week from the owner. Water was warm and inviting for swimming. Kids spent many hours swimming to/from floating dock and jumping from it. Convenient location as it is only a short 45 minute drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor... we spent several days at both and would HIGHLY recommend it! The cabin itself is fully stocked with kitchen/dining essentials,, linens, towels, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck with outdoor dining seating... ate all meals out there enjoying the view! Interior of cabin outdated... but what you get on the outside (view, property, etc) makes up for it ten-fold! We would definitely return and stay at this beautiful camp! Owners are extremely friendly and responsive!
