We had the best Thanksgiving in the quiet & beautiful town! We ended up getting about 9 inches of snow and Dan was so quick to respond and flexible to us stay an extra night for better road conditions.

Comfortable place to stay, just the right amount of space for the three of us. The heat had some issues, but it was easy to contact the owners and get everything resolved. The check out instructions were reasonable, too.

This place is wonderful. You can see and hear the Animus River from the balcony. It was very nice to hang at the house and nice to come home to after a day of sightseeing sometimes up a 14 thousand foot mountain. Recommended!

Wonderful apartment- perfect for our family of four. Awesome bathroom! Comfy beds! Perfect location with a great little deck for hanging out. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed for a month at the Animas River house. It was perfect for us. We were close to the river, close to town, and were steps away from great trails to hike. We had a lovely time. We had a few questions before we arrived and the owners were quick to respond. We look forward to returning to Silverton and staying at the little red house by the river.

You can't beat this location in Silverton to have a house instead of a hotel room. We were a close 3 minute walk to town. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was beautiful! Only downside is the water pressure was SO GOOD, that it ran out of hot water after 2 showers. There were four of us, so we had to shower strategically. Would stay here again!

Went here to go snowboard at Purgatory.. the house had zero issues. When trying to go snowboard, we got trapped in the town due to a road being shut down and didn’t get to go snowboard on the days we paid for. Purgatory will not refund you for this. There is a ski lift in town, but is only open certain days. Also, don’t get caught speeding… there are no warnings.

Super easy check-in. Close to town. Very quiet area. We loved our stay. Silverton is a special place to visit. Try to get there every year. We’ve stayed many places but none compare to this property. Cozy, comfortable, recently remodeled and pet friendly! Just perfect.

No surprises. Fit our need for accommodations very well. We were on the move but when we came in at night it was just what we needed.. Would rent again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Animas River House. It was warm, cozy and functional. We checked out a day earlier as there was snow in the forecast. We did not want to get stuck on our drive back home.

The stay at Animas River house was amazing. The town of Silverton is quiet & remote, perfect for getting away from everyday life. The house location right next to the river couldn't be better - it provided a great soundtrack to a few lovely evenings on the perfect-for-two-sized deck. The house was comfortable, cared for and well-appointed. Would absolutely stay again!

What a fantastic location right on the river with beautiful mountain views out of every window! The home looks just like the pictures, and is in a very convenient location. The stairs were not bad at all to enter the rental. The deck out back is very nice. It was stocked with everything we needed to start our stay. The bathroom was impressive and probably the nicest of any VRBO rents we’ve stayed in. All in all an excellent home, and we look forward to staying here again when we return to the area!

Fantastic little place for a quick mountain getaway! We enjoyed hiking around the area, loved being close to downtown with all of the walkable shops and restaurants, and thought the views of Kendall and the river from the little balcony were spectacular! Check in was easy and contactless. The property was clean and ready and as described. Would definitely recommend Animas River House to anyone looking for a spot in Silverton!

The location is great, enjoyed the morning strolls along the river and listening to the river at night. Close to Blair street fir shopping and restaurants.

This was our first time using VRBO and they made everything easy. The house was great, clean, cute, and convenient. We had some issues with the cable, but the owner got right on it and got it fixed ASAP! Overall, we loved and enjoyed our stay!

Great place to stay . Love the river right behind the place. All those beautiful Rockies, everywhere you look. Silverton, is the perfect mountain town. Highly recommended.

We loved this place. Updated nicely, comfy, clean and the views of the river and mountains is amazing. We did not want to leave and will be back. A nice 5 minute walk to downtown restaurants, shopping and close to Ouray. The only thing that I would recommend is adding a washing machine so we can stay longer. The unit has a dryer but no washer.

Location is perfect for any activities you may have planned in or around Silverton. The house is located on the Animas River and 2 blocks from the main street. House is also on the approved ATV route so you can ride directly to the trails. It is also directly across from Kendall mountain.

The location of the house is perfect. On the outskirts of town with virtually zero traffic and right on the river but still within walking distance of the main drag. The ad could be a little more clear that you're renting the second floor apartment ONLY and that you have to climb 400 stairs a day to use the place. My wife doesn't have the greatest knees and climbing those stairs sucked. I'm old and fat so I didn't enjoy it either. Also, the ad says it includes a clothes dryer. That's accurate, it has a clothes dryer. It didn't work but it was there. No washing machine. Not sure why there is a dryer with no washer but hey, there was a broken dryer. The furniture... holy crap. I ended up sitting in my camping chair in the living room. The two chairs and sofa thing were terrible to sit on. The beds maybe rivaled the beds at a Motel 8. The most comfortable furniture is the patio furniture on the back porch. The majority of the dishes that we attempted to use still had food stuck to them from previous renters. We washed them and carried on. Other than all the things I'm complaining about, we loved it! lol

We loved our stay at the Animas River House! It has a perfect location...close enough to walk to town, but nice and quiet, too (except when the train whistle blows each afternoon!). The house had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, and we loved the deck overlooking the river. We will be back!!

We had a great stay at the Animas House. The highlights for us were the views, location, really comfortable beds, and amazing shower (with great water pressure!). Having stayed in other houses in Silverton, we were concerned about the place being warm enough in December, but we were cozy and warm the whole time.

From the great room you are overlooking the beautiful Animas River and San Juan Mountains. From the skylights in the bathroom (the nicest of any property I’ve ever stayed in) you have the most unbelievable views of snowcapped mountains, with no homes in your line of sight. You have the feeling of total “mountain cabin seclusion”, but are just literal steps away from the shops, restaurants, and recreation thar the town of Silverton has to offer. Now, about the town. Silverton, to me, is the perfect “mountain town”. It sits in the base of a bowl, surrounded by 360 degrees of beautiful, sloping mountains. A lot of mountain towns in the San Juans (i.e. Telluride, Ouray), are wedged into narrow canyons that have a small window of sunshine during the fall and winter months. Silverton’s basin is oriented in such a way that it has probably hours of more direct sun than the other towns in the area. It sits about halfway between Durango and Telluride, on the unreal “Million Dollar Highway”. The scenery along the highway on drives to the points of interest in the area are, to me, even better than the actual “points of interest” lol. The town has a genuine feel that is just right between “tourist trap” and real mountain living.We loved our stay and hope to return during the spring/summer season!
