Had an overnight stay at Westhaven Motel to see Fox Glacier. Room was comfortable, spacious and conveniently located in the centre of town.

Location is good. If you must stay here only do the executive suites.

I had stayed here in 2017 and it has gone downhill. I believe the furnishings to be the same and not kept well. While not overtly stained, nothing seemed very clean (this wasnt helped by the odor issues below). No fan, and the day was quite hot. With the door open we had cigarette smoke from the people next door on one side and curry on the other—-having the smoking area not just outside someone’s room is something the motel could at least control. The standard room was advertised as the only one with the “outdoor patio”—this was a shared patio again with smokers. And in fact the “Executive suites” have an outdoor space in front—I would have upgraded if that had been labeled properly.

The door locked quite well. Also there was a roof and walls, which went a long way towards making us feel secure. All of the obviously inadequate and/or unpleasant facilities were quite clean.

1. Genuinely the least comfortable bed at any place we have stayed in in New Zealand. 2. Tap water was under a boil advisory; not sure if this was temporary or permanent, but either way, definitely no bottled water present for us. 3. Wifi quality best described as "bad comedy." 4. Shower was pathetically weak.

Good location and well appointed unit. We each had a queen bed which is really rare. Second beds generally tend to be singles.

shower was terrible, hardly any water pressure and the bed was very firm. upon arrival the person at reception couldn't speak much English and had to communicate with a phone call to his grandson.
