No milk in room until requested

It’s close to Larmer Tree Gardens. The room was nicely decorated, it felt in keeping with the building and whilst it felt nicely cosy, we had plenty of space. Having a flask of cold milk left outside our door was a nice thoughtful touch. Breakfast was lovely and some of the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had! The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable with a good quality en-suite. Both breakfasts and dinner were very tasty.

The inn is off the beaten track and was chosen by us as a base for walking the downs of South Wiltshire; with excellent walks from the doorstep and dozens more a short drive from our base. The staff were particularly friendly; the cooked breakfast, using local produce, a well prepared treat. Although very much a “pub with rooms” rather than a hotel, this was little hardship as the dining/bar area was a charming place to relax (serving Butcombe’s great range of ales) and was by no means noisy when it came to bed.
