Stunning hotel, wonderful rooms, kind and attentive staff, delicious local food, and a great pool overlooking the beautiful calm countryside- this place is an absolute GEM!
Please be aware that the gravel Road that leads to the hotel is long and rough! We advise to make sure you have a car that can take a lot of rough gravel and rocks (we will definitely rent an SUV or Jeep next time!)
But there really is nothing about the stay that we did not like!

Beautiful setting, such kind people, delicious food, comfortable room, amazing walks (occasionally accompanied by the very friendly dogs!), total peace and quiet. A very enjoyable visit in an area with so much history. The castle is fabulous.

The property itself is excellent, full of character and peaceful when you are in search of rest and quiet.
The 15 minute beaten track until you reach the property is off putting and if one is not careful it may cause damage to tyres or the car’s underbody.

The breakfast was very good and so was the dinner. It was great being able to use the provided bicycles. Some of those require a bit of maintenance but altogether we had a great time cycling. The location is very remote, quiet, pleasant, relaxing and beautiful. During the day one can enjoy bicycle rides, lovely walks and watch the horses, cows and donkeys as well as swimming in the swimming pool with a magnificent view to the fields. At night time one can enjoy a starry and sky and peaceful atmosphere.
The path from Barrancos to Monte da Coitadinha where the hotel is located (6km) is very bumpy due to many potholes. It was a shame that none of the electrical cars were working, but we enjoyed the bikes.

We loved everything: the location is superb. The facilities are excellent (not being luxury, it has everything you need to feel comfortable). The staff is amazing, kind and helpful, including the dogs Dior and Fiuza (actually Dior even toured us to the castle and around the property).
If I could make a suggestion: TV in the room would be great for a movie watching evening

The location was fantastic and the rental of the golf carts was really fun!
The breakfast was disappointing as they had no glutenfree bread and the fruit was offered as a whole apple ,orange or banana ( not peeled and cut) no eggs were offered at all .
We specifically went for star gazing and the telescope was broken and the bright lights on the exterior of the buildings hampered our viewing. In the brosure it states that guided tours and activities are offered but none were offered to us , and we only knew about the golf cart rental because we saw the carts and asked about them.
