The apartment was very nicely appointed and clean. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. We had a few small issues and Charlotte was quick to respond. Be aware the one bathroom is attached to the bedroom. If you have additional guests using the pull out sofa, they must walk through the bedroom to access the bathroom. The apartment is walkable to pretty much everything. However, the walk can be anywhere from 1.5 miles to almost 4 miles (Jefferson Memorial) to your destination NOT including the walk back. You also need to account for all the walking that you do when you get to your destination, including back to the apartment. There were 3 of us and we took an Uber to our destination in the morning ($12-20) spent the day sightseeing, ate dinner, and walked back to the apartment. We walked anywhere from 4-6 miles a day 5 days in a row. Probably not practical with small children or those not capable of walking long distances and being on your feet for most of the day. Trader Joe's is a 0.4 mile walk. If you like ice cream, Jeni's Homemade Ice cream is across the street from Trader Joe's. We parked our car on the street right outside the apartment and never moved it for 6 days!

Had everything we needed and price was comparable to a hotel room. Much more space and very convenient to the metro, coffee shops and restaurants. Would absolutely stay again.

Wonderful property within walking distance to Capitol Hill. Communication with property owners was outstanding. They reserved the parking spot for us right in front of the building. Place was super nice and clean. Would definitely recommend anyone staying there.

The Lovely Shaw Apartment was a perfect fit for our five day stay in Washington DC. Unlike a hotel or inn, we could start our day as we do at home. The apartment was beautifully furnished and comfortable. The Metrorail was a block and a half away and many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Thank you to Charlotte for being available when I had questions!

Clean and updated downstairs apartment in a friendly neighborhood. Very close to metro, restaurants and shopping. We were able to enjoy all of the major sights in DC and return to our quiet retreat.

We enjoyed our DC trip immensely. This apartment is only a three minute walk to the U Street Metro stop on the green line, making it very convenient for getting around the city. The apartment was exactly as advertised and had everything we needed. We had some trouble with adjusting the heat, but received a prompt response and assistance from the host.

The apartment was perfect for our needs. It was clean, spacious and in a great part of the city. We were able to walk or take public transportation to monuments, museums and the zoo.
Charlotte gave us great advise on making those necessary reservations.
Communication about the reservation were timely and professional. Stay here!

This was the best VRBO experience we've had in the past 4 years. Our check-in process was easy and quick. Charlotte was super helpful in getting us a parking pass for on-street parking. Thankfully we had no issue finding a space directly across from the apartment. The apartment was even better than it looked in the photos. It felt like home. We walked to Trader Joe's the first night and bought food to cook at the apartment. Can we just talk about the high-quality cookware? It was better than what I have at home. The had spices on hand and even Sleepy Time tea for the evening on hand. The other nights we walked 2-3 blocks (not far) and had our pick off dozens of wonderful restaurants to choose from. We recommend trying Supra (a Georgia restaurant) not far from the apartment. Delicious food and wine..great service too. The location of the apartment to the Metro station made accessing all the museums and landmarks a breeze. I would recommend this apartment to anyone 10 out of 10.

The property was perfect for me as a single traveller and was as described. Clean, well appointed and quiet. I would rent again.The only issue was the owner's company and its interface with VRBO, which created communication challenges. Both VRBO and the property manager were responsive through their separate emails/phone numbers, but the confusion was never fully resolved and I couldn't communicate through the VRBO site.

The property manager was very communicative and a special shoutout for getting us a parking pass since we booked pretty last minute. It is also a great place And location. We had great interaction with the host before ever getting to the property. It was perfect size for the 2 of us. Nice kitchen so we were able to DoorDash groceries and cook most meals at home. Nice little place. Alarm system added peace of mind since unfamiliar with the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. Such a cute and well apportioned place. It was super close to Metro and we were able to get everywhere we needed to go in DC by accessing the metro near the home. The nearby eateries and grocery store gave us a lot of options to go out to dinner or stay in and cook a meal. Also some great coffee places a couple of blocks in either direction of the home so we were able to have some great coffee options too when we didn’t want to make our own coffee at the apartment.
The property manager Charlotte was also very responsive and helpful from original booking and throughout the stay!
Thank you for a making our DC trip a memorable one!

The unit was everything the description said it was. Clean, very well equipped & in good working order. Location is very close to both Bus/ Metro and lots of shops & bars 7 restaurants.

The place looked like the photos, was very cute. Trader Joe's and other grocery shopping a few blocks away, so are many places to dine. Super cute area. Was a little hard getting Ubers on time, recommend scheduling in advance if going that route. Metro is also close! Was worried it may be far for a couple of my meetings (in Virginia) but the longest commute I had was 25 minutes.

We were totally pleased with this unit. It was well stocked and perfect size for the two of us. Neighborhood was quiet and easy to access all the sites. Communication with manager was easy and quick when needed. We would definitely rent this again.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. However, there were some aspects of the stay that were less than expected. The location is perfect for those who like a vibrant nightlife, but we were looking for a more subdued environment. The backyard was less than inviting due to having to climb a steep set of stairs (making it inaccessible for those with mobility issues) and no exit. The backyard also faces the rear of a building and parking lot.Speaking of parking, a little more information about the street parking arrangements would have been appreciated.Still, the property was adequate for our needs and well stocked. Charlotte was a pleasure.

The property is very nice and clean. It is located in a nice, safe and friendly neighbourhood with plenty of options for restaurants at 14th street. We have enjoyed a lot and would certainly recommend to stay here as a family of up to 4 persons.

This was an ideal spot for our stay. It was clean and well furnished, including high quality cookware, which is unusual in rentals! The manager was very responsive when we had questions. I would definitely stay here again. Renters just need to be aware that there is not a washer and dryer on the premises.

Overall, the place was nice. The noise from the street on the weekend is a bit much and the shattered glass on the street is a bit off putting. Nothing the property can control since is so close to a high traffic U Street. My only suggestion that needs immediate attention is the swarm of mosquitoes at the front door. If that can be handled with some sort of repellent, the listing is 5/5.

The apartment is very comfortable, charming, and commodious. My adult son and I stayed here - I gave him the bedroom and I slept on the couch which was very comfortable. I was especially impressed with the well-stocked kitchen- all the basics are there in addition to top-notch cooking ware. I would use this venue again in a heartbeat!

Spent a long weekend with the family. The unit is fairly nice and we appreciated the well stacked kitchen and comfortable bed. Location is walking distance to restaurants and shops but still relatively quiet. Street parking was always available. You will need visitor a parking permit which was provided. We reached out to customer service a couple of times and had a difficult time getting a response. We had a 12 pm check-out but cleaning service showed up at 10:30 am, although they left to return later. Overall nice apartment, management could improve their communication.

We enjoyed our stay but we had frustrating issues getting into property. We received welcome emails but it did not contain the door code. It took around 2 hours to get hold of anyone.
The representative was very apologetic and seem to think the email was caught in spam filters - but we checked comprehensively.
May be worth future guests checking details well before. Maybe the welcome email could also specify how to reach the office.
Apartment has a great kitchen and Cody living space.

We had an amazing stay here and would absolutely stay here again. I love how the small details, like having coffee at the apartment, didn’t go unnoticed. The apartment was very cozy and just perfect for us. Very clean as well. Highly recommend!

There was a small mishap with checking in, but when I contacted the host she responded right away and fixed the issue.
I would like to mention the few steps (I think 4 steps) to get to the front door are on the steep side. Did not bother myself or my husband but I could understand if it’s difficult for someone with mobility issues. Overall we loved the location and the cleanliness!

My stay was wonderful! The unit was clean, well stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies, and in a very convenient location. The area seemed great...keep in mind this is still DC and I would 100% recommend relying on public transportation based on the number of busted out car windows I saw on sidewalks around the city.
My only issue was during check-in. I was not aware that check-in details would be coming from a sender other than VRBO and I had to reach out to customer service to contact the host because I hadn't received a reply from the host after about 30 minutes of sitting outside the front door. VRBO called the host and that is when I learned that the check-in details were from another sender. I have since checked my emails (spam and trash) several times and I never received an email for check-in. Ultimately, I was able to get in but it was not a smooth process.
My suggestion for the host would be to let guests know ahead of time that the check-in details are coming from another sender.
Overall it was still a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend.

I am giving 5 stars because the only bad part or my stay is not anything the owner can do about. Everything was great with the communication and the apartment. I had a couple questions that were immediately answered. The place is cute clean comfortable and well stocked The Metro restaurants and Trader joes is right around the corner. The only downside is the street noise at night. Weekends were the worst. Sirens all night and racing cars. I was woken about 330 am Saturday to the sound of a racing car and 6 gunshots. Of course, immediately i heard the police sirens chasing the shooter. I think this is probably the case everywhere in DC now My advice is enjoy the place and cute neighborhood during the day but stay inside at night!

this rental was everything it stated and more. The bed was amazing. 1st time in a while my back didn't hurt after waking up. Location was good. It was very quiet which was very high on my list of needs. I had the lower level apartment and it was quite spacious. Definitely could work for a small family. I walked ALOT while there and felt safe. I also Uber'd which was fairly expensive but worth it not knowing the area.

While this well-appointed, spacious apartment was in a good location (near Metro, restaurants, and cultural sites), we found it had some unexpected drawbacks that photos just didn’t capture. The stairs down to the basement apartment were uneven and difficult to negotiate. Inside, the floor leading into and out of the kitchen had raised transition strips that presented a trip hazard. The internet was slow which made making from the apartment challenging. There was lots of noise from the occupants in the upper unit (perhaps carpeting could help with this?). And most annoying of all, we found ourselves battling mosquitoes during most of our waking hours. (I think there was pooling water underneath the loose grate at the front door.) Unfortunately, we’re not likely to return to this rental.

This location is literally right around the corner from a metro station which made it very convenient to get around DC to see the sights. The unit was clean, exactly as pictured, and I’ll details about check in & check out or communicated effectively. The full kitchen was so nice to have to make our own breakfast before heading out for the day. Top-end appliances and pots pans, etc. The bed was very comfortable too!!!
